Although Xu Jinzhi was not clear on the details, she was not blindly confident; after all, if it were really that simple, she believed Xie Yanchuan would have already done so.

As they talked, the two had already made their way to the canteen. It was almost past mealtime, so there weren’t many people left.

Xie Yanchuan and Xu Jinzhi found a corner spot to sit down together.

After finishing their meal, Xu Jinzhi followed Xie Yanchuan back to the office.

“The bruise is becoming more noticeable now, should we apply some medicine?” Xu Jinzhi leaned in front of Xie Yanchuan, her slender fingers pinching his chin as she examined him carefully.

Their proximity was very close, and Xie Yanchuan didn’t dare move, letting Xu Jinzhi check on him, though his heartbeat involuntarily quickened.

And he certainly couldn’t call Xu Jinzhi for help in the middle of a fight!

“What will you do when I go to class later?” Yanchuan quickly changed the subject.

Jinzhi pondered, “Wait for you in the office?”

She had not planned to return to the company for work that afternoon.

Yanchuan looked at his spartan office and felt somewhat that it was unfair to make Jinzhi wait for him here.

After a moment of silence, Yanchuan asked her, “Would you like to go to my place instead?”

Jinzhi’s eyes brightened, and she turned to look at Yanchuan with interest.

Yanchuan, somewhat embarrassed, explained, “It will be a long wait, and there’s no place to rest here. Plus, I’m supposed to cook for you tonight, right? You might as well rest there in the meantime.”

“There’s nothing off-limits at my apartment. If you’re tired and want to rest, the guest room is all new; you can take a nap there.”

Despite the plainness of his words, Yanchuan couldn’t help feeling shy and thought his entire face was burning hot.

“Why are you so adorable?” Jinzhi looked at Yanchuan, her heart melting. She couldn’t help but lean in and plant another kiss on the corner of Yanchuan’s lips.

But it was just a peck, and she let go of Yanchuan very quickly, speaking in a coaxing tone, “Then I’ll go home to wait for you.”

Yanchuan instinctively wanted to dodge to the side, but he was also worried that Jinzhi would notice his awkwardness and didn’t dare to make any significant movements, managing only to feign composure and then softly responded, “Mhm.”
