After the death of Commander Chestnut, the noise of the battlefield slowly died down.
The whirlpools slowly returned to normal, and the vicious war cries died down and were replaced by the sound of pirates’ cheers.
Captain Bonnflammé, who had just killed the commander, was currently sat on the deck. It seemed his body was undergoing some sort of change as he absorbed the man’s soul.
That left Captain Lionheart in charge of what went down afterwards.
The Templars left no prisoners. They had no need for those who did not believe in the God of Knowledge. So, they only captured those who were willing to change their religion, whilst the rest were killed.
The spoils of the war were distributed well. Each crew was given a specific amount of bodies to loot, as well as a share of the provisions.
Blodwen was left in charge of handling the spoils that belonged to the Redflowers. With the help of the others, they brought them back to their ship. It was a large amount of spoils and provisions due to the part they played in boarding the ship. However, from Lionheart’s perspective, the role they had played wasn’t as large as it actually was.
This was due to the fact that they were unaware that the lightning strikes came from Roseus. The ones that had taken down a commander and even fended off a sea god.
Whilst Bonnflammé was still undergoing his changes, Captain Lionheart personally came and met with the present Redflower pirates, mainly addressing the First-Mate, Dawn.
He thanked them deeply for giving aid and expressed that such help would not go unrewarded.
Two gifts were personally bestowed upon them.
The first was a rare treasure named Guide of the Second. This was a map of the Second Ocean. Wherever the map travelled, it would mark down the locations of islands and different seas. This only worked within the Second Ocean.
Its negative effect was that all who owned this treasure type could constantly see each other’s locations, and they could also see yours. This would be extremely dangerous under normal circumstances; however, with the Templars having predominant control over the Second Ocean, their alliance would keep them away from most dangers.
The second gift was a personal offensive Epic Treasure named Crescente Spear. This was a spear with a luminous crescent-shaped point that resembled a glowing moon. Its silver-white blade glowed with a soft light, casting a faint glow across the ship.
It had the ability to be condensed into a small moon-shaped ring so that the full-length weapon would not need to be carried at all times.
As for its positive effects, it had one.
[Positive Effect I ~ When the moon is in a position that can be seen by the wielder, their body can traverse the Unseen Realm for as long as their body can handle it. This is determined by the wielder’s rank.]
At first, this Positive Effect meant nothing to Dawn. Only when Lionheart explained it to her did she realise its uses. The Unseen Realm was a realm that couldn’t be witnessed by the human eye. If one entered this realm, they could traverse to another location and reappear, giving off the effect that they had teleported.
Alongside this, the Unseen Realm was filled with secrets that, if one dared to explore them, could potentially reap great benefits.
However, the Crescente Spear was not without its negative effects.
It had two.
[Negative Effect I ~ When the moon cannot be seen, the wielder suffers the inability to tell friend from foe.]
[Negative Effect II ~ When wielded, the user will slowly become a worshipper of Lunarti, the Reflected Moon God of the Sea.]
Dawn had wondered why Captain Lionheart had no use for the weapon and felt comfortable giving it away. This was because its negative effects were not only dangerous, but also went against the Templars’ will.
Lionheart gave her no knowledge of who this sea god was, but the Templars had already made it clear that they were against other religions. The man suspected that the Redflowers might be able to sell it, or perhaps find a method to fight against the Reflected Moon God’s influence.
Not to mention, the Spear could hardly be used in the daytime, otherwise friends might fall victim to its crescent-shaped spear point.
Still, Dawn donned the ring and would not summon the spear until she had done some further research. As for the map, it was handed to Silius, who would examine it carefully in order to find their next destination.
"Any of the seas in the southern and western regions of the Second Ocean will be safe for you to travel. Your flag has been sent through our channels, and all will recognise you as allies of the Templars," Lionheart explained with a warm smile on his face.
With that, the Redflowers returned to their ship.
As they boarded the vessel, they found Zaliah and Lavender waiting for them, wearing distressed looks on their faces.
This was when they were filled in on the fact that Captain Roseus had yet to return from his rendezvous in the battlefield.
With worried hearts, they sailed towards the rubble of Captain Onoes’ ship, where the last lightning strike had landed.
They examined the location carefully. Roseus could not be seen anywhere.
All they noticed was that, surrounding the rubble, the water had become completely golden in a one-hundred-metre radius and seemed to keep spreading. This had surely given the location the name Golden Sea.
As Dawn worriedly looked out into the water, she came to a sudden realisation.
With this much golden water, could it be that Nammon had been slain? If so, surely it had been done by their captain.
But Roseus was already on the brink of death. If he had somehow managed to take down that Sea God of Avarice, he would surely have had to push himself past his limits.
That night, long after the Templars had left the Golden Sea, the Redflowers remained, searching for their captain amidst the waters.
Yet by the time the sun arrived, there was still no sign of him.
