[Ship Modifications Awakened!]
Roseus and Dawn were heading back from the church when he suddenly received a notice in his mind, telling him that he had finally awakened Ship Management.
He stopped in his footsteps. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Does this mean Lavender has already awakened? Just what did Zaliah do for her?
Putting that aside, he swiftly navigated the information in his mind, trying to gather an understanding of what exactly Ship Management was.
Ship: Unnamed
Ship Type: Sloop
Ship Tier: I
This was the first piece of information that he received about his ship, which he realised was actually unnamed.
The ship type represented its design, size, etc., whilst the tier represented its power.
Ship Buffs: Hardened Hull (Lv. 2)
Following this were the currently applied Ship Buffs. These were the skills owned by the crew that currently affected the ship’s strength, etc.
Afterwards, Roseus saw the most interesting part of the Ship Management system, which was Inherit Ship Modifications.
What this allowed him to do was directly upgrade specific parts of the ship, as long as the ship currently had those parts. For example, he could not add new guns to this ship using this method, but rather could change the way that an already installed gun might behave. Otherwise, this allowed him to add general buffs to the ship as well.
[Available Modifications (2/5)]
[Select Modifications]
- Delightful Lady (Tier 2 Mod) → When a crew’s ship consists of 50% or more women, its sails become moderately strengthened against all attacks orchestrated by men.
- Freedom Of Religion (Tier 2 Mod) → When a crew contains believers in three different gods, all divine strikes against the hull of the ship are moderately weakened.
- Treasure Hoarder (Tier 2 Mod) → When the number of treasures matches or exceeds the number of crew members, the ship takes moderately less flame damage caused by opposing treasures.
[Applied Modifications]
- Captain Aboard (Tier 1 Mod) → If there is a pirate captain aboard this ship, ship speed gains a slight increase.
- First and Second (Tier 1 Mod) → If there is a First Mate and Second Mate aboard this ship, ship speed gains a slight increase.
...
Interesting.
There was still a lot to learn about this new system; however, Roseus was slowly starting to understand the way things worked.
New ship modifications would appear once the requirements were met. However, you could only be shown a number of ship modifications equal to the amount of spaces you had left.
For example, since Roseus already had 2 automatically equipped ship modifications, he was only shown three available ship modifications. If he had to guess, the ones being shown to him were those that the system deemed most useful to him. Of course, there was a possibility that this was wrong, and that he was instead being shown random options.
He would confirm this with Zaliah when he saw her.
If he wished, Roseus could refuse or accept a ship modification, or even discard ones that were currently equipped. This would open up space for new available modifications to appear.
However, he also assumed that a ship modification he discarded would not appear to him again, at least not in the same manner as before.
Because of this, ship modifications acted in a unique manner, primarily relying on luck and wise decision-making. If one wasn’t content with what they received and wished to try their luck for something else, they had to accept the consequences of such a decision.
When Roseus explained all of this to Dawn, they both decided that they should find Zaliah before making any further decisions.
...
Roseus found Zaliah sitting on the deck of her ship with Lavender, who wore a smile on her face that he hadn’t seen since her sister was kidnapped by the navy.
As she saw him approach, Lavender jumped to her feet and cheered.
"Captain, I’ve finally awakened!" she said, although Roseus had already guessed this.
He flashed her a smile. "I know. Ship Modifications were just opened up to us because of it. What did you do to awaken?"
Zaliah smiled while Lavender blushed. She shook her head and said, "Just spending time in the water, with some help from Zaliah..."
"Yes, she did well," Zaliah chimed in. "Now then, let’s discuss these modifications. I am very excited to see what we’ve been offered."
Noting that the woman said "we" rather than "you," Roseus realised that Zaliah already considered herself a part of their crew.
No, this makes sense. Don’t I see her as a member too? After all, I was offered the Delightful Lady modification, which said that at least half of our crew were women.
Me, Blodwen, Kruger, Petyr, Jackson, Silius.
Dawn, Zaliah, Lavender, Pip, Adriana... That’s only five.
Does the system still recognise Lyna as a member of our crew, even though she is currently captured by the navy? That means she isn’t dead!
Roseus decided that when the time came, he would explain this theory to Lavender. For now, he shared the information regarding his ship modifications with Zaliah.
After examining the information carefully, a smile spread across Zaliah’s face. Afterwards, she explained the details of the ship modifications, confirming all of Roseus’s guesses. She seemed proud that the captain had been able to come to a few conclusions on his own.
She then expressed that they would be wise not to select any of the options and instead wait until they physically upgraded their ship. She planned to install some sort of turrets and guns, have Roseus discard the current options, and hope that the next options would be directed towards strengthening the cannons, as this was an important part of the ship.
She also added a bit more information. For example, she explained that once a modification was discarded or rejected, it would not return in the same manner for seven days. This further added to the importance of making decisions wisely.
Taking in all of this information hurt Roseus’s head, so he decided that most of the decisions would be left up to Zaliah.
However, there was still one decision that they needed to decide as a group, which was the name of the ship.
Perhaps we should wait until the necessary upgrades are made to its design.
