A moment later, the man strode toward them with long, steady steps. Huo Jingyuan rarely got sick. He only ever came to the hospital when he was seriously injured.

The nurses who had never seen Huo Jingyuan before were immediately smitten.

A hint of coldness flashed in her eyes, a blatant warning for Huo Jingyuan to watch his words.

Huo Jingyuan ignored her. He said nothing, his eyelids slightly lowered. The look he gave Wen Ci was filled with such lingering affection that his intentions were obvious to anyone watching.

Wen Ci’s composure shattered.

’He clearly agreed to the ground rules this morning, and now...’

Wen Ci sighed softly. As the clock chimed on the hour, she walked over to Huo Jingyuan’s side. Both speechless and resigned, she asked, "Why are you here?"

The man answered with a clear laugh, "To take you home."

Wen Ci turned to leave, but stopped after only half a step. She shot Huo Jingyuan a reproachful look. "You can sleep in the barracks tonight."

Huo Jingyuan silently followed ten meters behind Wen Ci. As they neared her home, he closed the distance in a few quick strides and called out, "Ah Ci, I was wrong."

Wen Ci stepped through the courtyard gate and blocked the entrance with her body. Looking at the man’s somewhat aggrieved expression, she spoke slowly.

"What were you wrong about?"

The man’s voice was deep and magnetic. In the depths of his eyes, tiny flames seemed ready to ignite.

The moment he finished speaking, Huo Jingyuan lowered his head and captured her lips.

’He would show his apology through action.’

The man’s kissing skills had clearly improved. He caressed the long hair at the nape of Wen Ci’s neck, unwilling to settle for a simple peck—not when he thought of other men laying eyes on her.

His kiss deepened, and the air grew hot.

By now, Wen Ci’s anger had mostly dissipated.

’Hearing the word "possessive" from Huo Jingyuan’s lips was deeply satisfying. He’d broken their rules because he wanted to stake his claim.’

Wen Ci’s lips curved into a slight smile. "I’ll forgive your recklessness for today, but don’t let it happen again. You can pick me up from the hospital, but you need my permission first."

"So, can I come again tomorrow?"

Wen Ci’s eyes went wide. "No!"

Wen Ci chose to ignore his question. She walked into the living room, poured herself a glass of water, and asked curiously, "How did you get the nickname Living Yama?"

"A nickname forged on the battlefield."

Wen Ci frowned slightly.

’Shouldn’t a nickname forged on the battlefield be something like War God?’

’After all, Wen Ci herself had once killed countless zombies during the apocalypse, earning her the nickname: the Female War God!’
