Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

"CLUCK CLUCK CLUCK."

Inside her space, the air was ethereal and the scenery was delightful.

Stella Sterling stood in the newly formed world within her space. She watched the chickens and ducks she had just released soar toward the mountains like fish returned to water, and she could occasionally hear the lively crowing of a rooster.

A smile touched her lips. ’So my space can still be used to raise chickens and ducks after all.’

Her space had once been a static world, but this newly formed region had mountains and water, appearing no different from the outside world.

’It’s a shame, though,’ she thought. ’Even though the space can support life, I have no way of getting other animals like pigs, cows, or sheep. Otherwise, I would have raised a whole herd of them in here.’

For now, she could only raise chickens and ducks. If she got the chance later, she would bring those other animals into her space as well.

’I’ll breed a batch in the space first, and then I can bring them out. If I can’t eat them all, I can trade them with others.’

Meeting Mr. Cheney today had given her a completely new idea.

Leaving this area, Stella Sterling walked over to the cultivation zone. With a mere thought and a wave of her hand, the mature crops harvested themselves and were automatically stored where she usually kept her grain.

Previously, Stella couldn’t do this; she would have had to harvest the mature crops by hand.

But now, it saved her a lot of trouble.

After studying the Space Manipulation Technique recently, she had come to understand how to utilize her space. She now felt a faint connection to it and no longer had to do everything manually as before. All it took was a single thought to make things happen as she wished.

With her suspicions eagerly confirmed, Stella Sterling exited her space. She drove her speedboat across the water’s surface, her mood excellent the entire way.

"You old bastard, how dare you lie to us! I’ll beat you to death!"

As she passed a certain shoreline, she heard a woman’s furious shout.

Stella Sterling paid it no mind. In the apocalypse, situations like this were commonplace; she couldn’t even muster the slightest bit of sympathy.

She was about to move on, but the voice she heard next made her pause.

"Lie to you? I, Marcus Sterling, have navigated the world of business for many years. What treasures have I not possessed? Why would I need to lie to you? It’s just... the items aren’t on my person right now. I can’t produce them at this moment."

"Not on you? Then what the hell are you talking about? That’s just a lie!"

"Listen to that tone. Sounds like he used to be a rich man. Haha! So what if you were rich before? Now you’re living like dogs. You’re worse off than me! Haha!"

"Mr. Quinn!!! Stop hitting him! He’ll die if you keep this up!"

"We already ate it! Even if you beat us to death, we can’t give it to you!"

The moment she heard the name "Marcus Sterling," Stella had already turned to look.

She stopped her speedboat near a small hill where a few people were resting.

She immediately spotted Marcus Sterling, surrounded by a group of young men and women.

But he no longer possessed the dignified, portly bearing he’d had two years prior. His tall frame had shriveled, and he was dressed in rags. His hair had grown long, a tangled, matted mess.

His clothes were soaking wet, and his exposed skin on his face and hands was covered in cuts.

His leg appeared to be injured. He sat on the ground, drenched, cold, and in a wretched state, yet his eyes still held a defiant glimmer of his former authority.

A disheveled woman was draped over him, shielding him with her body and looking at the young men and women with a pleading expression.

And it was from her mouth that those helpless, selfish words had just been spoken.

She had lost all trace of her former grace and elegance, and none of the arrogance she used to show Stella remained.

Seeing the state the two of them were in, Stella Sterling zoned out for a moment.

’In my past life,’ she mused, ’when I ran into them, I still cared about having parents, so I always protected them.’

’I braved the dangers for them, found food for them... and what was the result? They tried to kill me for Yara Sterling’s sake.’

’With my protection in our past life, they certainly didn’t live so wretchedly.’

’It was a world of difference compared to how they look now.’

As she thought about it, Stella Sterling began to laugh out loud. She felt a profound sense of satisfaction; she had never felt so exhilarated.

’Last time, after I killed Yara Sterling, this couple was devastated. They had even screamed about killing me to make me pay with my life for Yara’s.’

’But how could they possibly have been a match for me? They had barely suffered in the apocalypse, thanks to my protection.’

In the end, she ignored them. For the sake of their laughable blood ties, she didn’t kill them with her own hands, but she also stopped paying them any mind.

’After that, she had no idea whether they lived or died.’

Now, in this life, knowing some of the truth, she hated them far more than she had before and had long since lost any feelings for them.

Seeing them in such a miserable state now, she only felt a deep sense of satisfaction.

’Look at that. Without my protection, they live such miserable lives.’

They were merely confused and even angry, wondering what that person was laughing at. ’Is our misery so amusing to them?’

The pair glared viciously at her!

But Stella Sterling’s laughter only grew louder. It took a long while for her to stop. She muttered to herself, ’Mm, I got a little too excited. I can’t help it. Seeing them so miserable... it feels pretty damn good. Sigh, I’m really not a filial daughter.’

’Oh, wait, that’s not right. I was never really their daughter to begin with. Yara Sterling was their daughter.’

After that thought, she took a bottle of water from her backpack and had a drink.

’Can’t be helped,’ she thought. ’I was so happy I laughed a little too loudly, and now my throat is hoarse!’

When the young people surrounding Marcus Sterling and his wife saw that the strange woman had no intention of intervening, they breathed a sigh of relief.
