A Hitman's Guide To Becoming A Hero

After ripping his way through the Bebilith’s webs, Nicholas and Julie continued on their path.

They’d come across several beasts, but compared to the Kamacura and the Bebilith, none of them stood a chance.

In fact, it was as though Nicholas grew stronger after every fight. The truth wasn’t far from it. Streams of Charm Points flooded in with every beast he killed, far more than he’d expected.

[+10 Charm points]

[+3 charm points]

Even without doing anything in particular, his charm points kept increasing.

Nicholas didn’t overthink his stat distribution anymore. After his last experience with the stamina-agility imbalance, he poured most of his Charm Points into stamina without hesitation.

He also left some points for using his copied abilities. In no time, he’d balanced out his entire stats and immediately he was done doing that....

An unfortunate group of lizardmen crossed paths with them.

They brandished their spears as they noticed the two, "Ssss!" The first lizard hissed as it drove the spear full speed ahead at Nicholas.

If this had been a few days ago, perhaps that would’ve seemed fast to Nicholas, but looking at the spear move was like watching a tortoise move.

Nicholas blurred, in a second the Lizardman’s head exploded as Nicholas fist burst straight through. The other Lizardmen tried to react, but before they could, their vision was swallowed by blood and darkness.

Not even knowing what had brought them to their demise.

Nicholas let out a breath as he threw his gaze in the distance, ’Their numbers have been increasing and I’m seeing more beasts. If I’m not wrong, the more beast I encounter the closer I am to the impure’ Nicholas thought his gaze drifting ahead as he continued his walk.

Julie sprinted behind Nicholas, breathing heavily.

"You’ve been fighting so long and you’re not even tired! I’m only tagging along and it feels like I’m the one doing the fighting" Julie complained.

"If you actually worked out a bit then carrying a camera shouldn’t feel like a chore"

"Hey! Don’t mock me, you think it’s easy to get you in all those angles then you’d be mistaken! It requires mastery of the art!"

"That’s basically the work of your ability"

Julie smiled wryly, "Hehe... I guess?"

Nicholas didn’t bother with her, as they continued their walk.

"Raarrgghh"

A low guttural growl came from the side and slowly walking out into the street was a zombie, its eyes glowing with a sickly yellow colour.

More emerged behind it, as though they had followed the pair’s scent.

Thick slimy saliva dripped down their mouth as they looked at the two.

"Ahhh! Zombies!" Julie jolted in fright as she instantly scurried to a hide behind Nicholas.

Nicholas instantly shoved her to the side casually as he took a step forward, looking at the zombies.

He took a deep breath as he blasted forward, expanding the baton.

The zombies looked around in confusion, wondering where he’d disappeared to, but they didn’t have to search for long.

The baton came slamming down on the first zombie, the sheer force ripping straight down from its skull to its torso, almost as though his baton was a blade instead of a rod.

With a rapid twist, he swirled the staff in a circle around him, the powerful current pushing the zombies that were closest to him, already moving to attack him.

He fired the tip of the rod to the head of the nearest Zombie.

BOOM!

The rod shot forward like a bullet, ripping through the head, blood splashing into the air.

"Rraaarggh" Another zombie lunged from behind.

Nicholas rapidly reacted, throwing a spinning back kick.

The powerful force from the kick sent the zombie straight into the air slamming into the wall with a sickening thud before falling lifelessly to the ground.

The baton moved like an extension of his hands as he moved through the zombies, smashing right through their ribs and skulls without resistance.

Julie didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as she sW the comments.

"Keep beating those beast Phantom! You’re becoming famous!" Julie yelled from the side.

In moments, the zombies were gone. Blood stained the street and mangled corpses littered the ground around him.

"You’re a noise maker" Nicholas said as looked at his bloodied baton, ’I’ll have to get a new weapon and a new coat after this’ he thought, before glancing towards Julie, he suddenly noticed the shadow approaching Julie from behind. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Without thinking, he used his abilities. Julie vanished from where she stood and reappeared beside him, allowing the figure to come into full view.

"Ahhh! That thing was behind me" Julie screamed in horror as she hurried off to the side.

The figure looked different from all the other zombies, its body wasn’t a mangled mess and if anything, looked closer to a sane human than the rest.

Its eyes were pitch black and black matter lined the rows of its teeth as it snarled at Nicholas seeing that he’d killed all the other zombies.

’That’s not a normal zombie’ Nicholas thought as he appraised the zombie with caution.

The zombie looked at Nicholas for a long moment, but its gaze didn’t linger on him, it shifted to Julie.

Nicholas walked to the front of its gaze blocking it, "Sorry, you won’t be touching her, not while I’m here" Nicholas said with a stern face.

"Yes! What he said!" Julie said with a burst of confidence.

The zombie seemed to understand his words as it snarled at him, but without thinking twice it dashed straight ahead.

Nicholas blasted forward as well, and the two met in the middle, their fists colliding in a horrendous clash.
