The cool, crisp air was immediately replaced by the sharp smell of antiseptic. as they stepped into the hospital.

The three walked up to the counter and met a woman in light blue scrubs with a gentle smile on her face.

"Good afternoon. How can I help you today?" the lady asked with a gentle smile on her lips.

Selena raised her ID, "I’m from the Hero association, a supervisor here to investigate the corpse that was brought in earlier today"

"Oh! Please, follow me. It’s right this way" the lady jolted up from her seat, quickly coming out to lead them to the morgue where they moved the bodies.

As they got to the room, the frosty air came at them. They could feel the temperature drop by several degrees as they stepped in.

The lady quickly walked up to one of the cooling pods labeled ’Hero Teddy’ and pulled it out revealing the large teddy-like body.

She turned to Selena, "We’ve tried examining the body, but it didn’t work, it seems it has something to do with his ability"

As the lady spoke her eyes traveled to Nicholas who was standing casually behind Selena. She slowly lost her words as she looked at the dashing, handsome face.

Although it was only half his face, she she found herself momentarily lost in a trance.

"Please, you can leave? We’ll handle things from here" Selena’s sharp voice snapped her back to reality.

"Yes, sorry about that," the nurses face flushed as she rapidly left the room in embarrassment.

"As you can see, he doesn’t seem to be alive. If he was then staying in a fridge that long should’ve been enough to kill him" Selena was talking, but it seemed as though Nicholas didn’t have the slightest interest in what she was saying as he walked up to the corpse.

"The teddy form is his ability right?" Nicholas asked throwing a glance at Selena.

"Yes it is,"

Nicholas casually placed a hand on the teddy bear.

Just as he activated the ability, the teddy form vanished, revealing no body hidden beneath.

"What the heck!" Julie jumped startled as she held onto her camera "The hospital is haunted! We’ve carried the curse, his spirit will haunt us till we die"

Selena let out a sigh pulling Julie’s powerful grip away from her, "You’re worried about getting a curse but you’re still recording?"

"C’mon?! At least if we die here they’ll have proof"

Selena rubbed her forehead, "No one’s dying." She shifted her gaze to Nicholas, "So you cancelled out his abilities? That means he faked his own death?" Selena asked.

"What?!! You can cancel abilities too? Just how many abilities do you have? I think we should change your hero name from Phantom to Miracle man, cause what the heck?!" Julie stared in bewilderment.

"Yes, it was most probably because he didn’t want his attackers to know he survived" Nicholas calmly replied to Selena.

Selena let out a long sigh, "That means we have to get his info, I’ll call Dana and have her send me more details on the hero"

"Just get details on any family member he has, that would be the first place he would’ve gone to." Nicholas said.

"Alright I’ll do that" Selena put Dana on call, asking for the information about the Teddy.

Dana quickly checked the monitor and gave her all the information she had access to.

"He only has a sister, and she lives downtown Hensenberg city, it’ll take us a few minutes to get there"

"Then let’s get going" Nicholas said bluntly.

The three left the hospital with haste, not even stopping by the counter, "Hey wait—" her words hung in her mouth as they dashed away in haste.

"They should’ve at least told me they were done" She muttered under her breath as she went back to the morgue room to check on the body.

She stood stunned as she met the tray pod outside, "Where’s the body?" She said staring at the now empty tray, she rapidly hurried out to check for Nicholas and Selena, ’Are they cannibals or necrophiles? Who carries a dead body! What do I tell the manager?’ the lady thought, panicking as she saw Selena’s car zoom away.

Her questions left unanswered and the story behind the now missing corpse, a mystery.

Selena didn’t take any break as she drove to the house Dana had told her of. Neither she nor Nicholas exchanged a word as she drove, instead the silence was filled by Julie as she was constantly muttering her thoughts as she replied to the chats in her group.

After streaming Phantom, she’d gotten a lot more popular, with thousands of people following her page and several loyal fans!

Seeing the comments from her ridiculously tempting viewers, Julie could only bite her lips as she caught Selena’s cold gaze staring at her through the cars rearview mirror.

’Guys I really want to!! But I’ll lose my streaming privileges if I did that’ Julie thought sulking as she ignored the influx of messages.

In no time, the car came to a halt, as Selena pulled up in front of a cleanly mowed porch, the plants freshly watered and the scent of bleach lingered beneath the smell of wet grass.

After a few seconds a young lady stepped out with a gentle smile, "Good day, how may I help you?"

Selena kept a stern face as she replied, "We’re from the hero association, we just wanted to ask you a few—"

"We want to speak to James, we need to ask him a few questions about his attack" Nicholas cut Selena off right before she could finish, going straight to the point.

Selena wanted to smack him, but she held her hands in restraint, a forced smile cutting across her face.

The young lady shifted uncomfortably, her gaze turning to Nicholas who stared back at her blankly, "What do you mean, isn’t he dead?"

"Your only brother died and the first thing you do in the morning is to mow your front porch and you haven’t visited the hospital either. You should work on lying—"

Selena’s hands quickly wrapped around his mouth, "I’m sorry about that, he isn’t the best when it comes to talking. Don’t mind him, we’re currently going through an investigation to find out the people who have been killing heroes. After checking we found out there might be a chance Noah is still alive and we thought maybe we could find him with you here, it would really be great if we had an audience with him. It will help us find clues and deal with the culprits before they cause more harm" Selena explained, her voice calm and measured almost pleadful as she looked the young lady in the eye.

The young lady smiled wryly, "I’ve not seen Noah for a while now, he’s not here"

Selena felt her grip loosen as Nicholas casually pulled out her arm, "Mowing your front porch and watering it during the rainy season, you could only do that to clear the traces of blood I’m sure he came to you injured" Nicholas said sharply.

The lady eyes shook as she looked at Nicholas, her fingers wrapping around the door knob tightly, Selena quickly noticed the unease in her action and turned to Nicholas, "We didn’t come here to interrogate anyone, enough with all the assessments already. You’re making her uncomfortable" Selena turned back to the lady, "I’m sorry—"

"Let them in Sis" a voice came from the inside of the house.

A small smile spread across Nicholas’s face.

"I was starting to think you’d leave your sister to do all the talking."
