### Chapter 83: Here Specifically to Piss Off Raina Lowell 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"I came to find you, naturally, to chat about the interesting things that happened to me in Freyburg. I just couldn’t find anyone to share them with. Then I remembered, didn’t you once tell Aiden Xavier that you and I got along really well? So, I came straight here to chat with you. And as it happens, I also think we get along quite well."
"I’m not interested in your affairs. This is my home, and you are not welcome here. Get out. Right now." Raina Lowell pointed at the front door.
But Hazel Hawthorne didn’t move a muscle, watching Raina Lowell with an amused look. "I think you’re very interested in my affairs. Didn’t you even send people to Freyburg to kidnap me? I’m just very curious, what was your goal in doing that? Were you trying to test if Aiden Xavier would come to Freyburg specially for me?"
"What did you say!?" Raina Lowell’s heart skipped a beat. ’How could Hazel know? Could it be...’
Hazel Hawthorne caught the fleeting expression on Raina Lowell’s face. She crossed her arms, looking perfectly at ease with no intention of leaving. "Raina Lowell, Aiden came to Freyburg. You must be furious, right? I heard you even begged Aiden Xavier not to leave last night."
"That’s impossible!" Raina Lowell denied it without a second thought.
Hazel Hawthorne didn’t believe her for a second. She naturally trusted what Aiden Xavier had told her. "Oh, you didn’t? Then why would Aiden say you were begging him not to go? But in the end, he was still worried about me and rushed to Freyburg anyway."
Every word was a deep jab at Raina Lowell. Her clenched fists and gritted teeth expressed her dissatisfaction and disgust for Hazel Hawthorne. "What are you trying to do by saying all this? Drive a wedge between us? Let me tell you, Aiden went to find you not because he was worried, but only because you’re his wife."
"Is that so?" Hazel Hawthorne didn’t buy it. She stood up and walked over to Raina Lowell, a smile on her face as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind Raina’s ear. She whispered with a grin, "But I’m only Aiden Xavier’s fake wife. Why would he worry about me? Unless..."
Raina Lowell shoved Hazel Hawthorne away and demanded, "Unless what?"
"Unless he’s fallen for me?" Hazel Hawthorne laughed.
Her smile was too dazzling. Raina Lowell couldn’t stand it; she even had the urge to destroy that face. She glared viciously at Hazel Hawthorne. "Aiden will never like you. Don’t flatter yourself. Someone like you doesn’t deserve Aiden at all."
"Oh?" Hazel Hawthorne circled Raina Lowell, tapping her chin. The angrier Raina Lowell got, the more delighted Hazel felt. "I haven’t even told you about the interesting thing that happened last night."
"Your business has nothing to do with me. I don’t want to hear it. Get out!"
"Now, how can we do that?" Hazel Hawthorne returned to the sofa and began her story in a leisurely tone. "Don’t you think that person last night was strange? They kidnapped me, did nothing, and then suddenly let me go after a phone call. I thought about it all night and still can’t figure it out."
"I said, get out!"
Hazel Hawthorne smiled at the enraged and humiliated Raina Lowell. "Someone as smart as you must know why. Why don’t you tell me? What was she after?"
"How would I know? I’m not her."
"True. I guess you’re not that smart after all. I thought you were omniscient."
Raina Lowell’s eyes widened as she stared daggers at Hazel Hawthorne, her voice a shriek. "Get out! Get out of here! I don’t want to see you!"
As Raina Lowell screamed, she started throwing things. The only thing in her ears and mind was Hazel Hawthorne’s sentence, "Aiden Xavier came to Freyburg to find me." Hazel dodged a few items, but a teacup still smashed into her ankle, the pain so sharp it nearly brought tears to her eyes.
’I couldn’t have provoked her this badly, could I?’ Hazel thought. ’I didn’t think I had it in me.’ She walked to the door and glanced back at the crazed Raina Lowell, shaking her head. To get this worked up over a few sentences—it seemed she had overestimated Raina Lowell.
Hazel Hawthorne sauntered downstairs. Seeing Raina Lowell’s misery put her in a very good mood. Before leaving, she even made a point of saying goodbye to the maid.
The maid’s expression, however, was bizarre. Seeing Hazel come down, she began trembling in the living room, not even daring to look at her.
Hazel Hawthorne hadn’t even stepped out of the villa when Raina Lowell suddenly called out to her again.
Raina Lowell, still in her pajamas, had chased her down from the second floor. After stopping her, she quickly rushed in front of her and said viciously, "Aiden will never like you. I’m the only one in his heart. I’m the one he wants to marry most."
"If I follow your logic, then why did Aiden Xavier marry me?" Hazel Hawthorne took a step forward, closing the distance between them. "You’re the one he wants to marry most, but he still didn’t marry you, did he?"
"Because I had to go abroad for treatment!"
"Raina Lowell, think about it carefully. He could have just as easily married you back then, so why didn’t he? Why did he choose to marry me instead?"
"Because I had to go abroad for treatment!" Raina Lowell spat through gritted teeth. "If I hadn’t gone, do you think Aiden would have married you?"
"Well said!" Hazel Hawthorne applauded her. "I just want to tell you, if someone truly loves you and wants to marry you, they would have done it long ago. Why wait until now? He and I have had many opportunities to divorce, but we haven’t. Do you know why?"
"Why?"
Hazel Hawthorne pointed a finger at her own heart. "You silly girl. Because of love, of course."
With that, Hazel Hawthorne ignored Raina Lowell, not even bothering to look at her expression. Behind her, she heard Raina Lowell’s furious screams and the sound of things being smashed.
Before, she might have been too caught up in the fact of her marriage to Aiden Xavier, which limited her thinking. But after mulling it over last night, she had thought of the one thing that would torment Raina Lowell the most.
And that was to pursue Aiden Xavier!
-------------------------------------
When it came to pursuing a man, Hazel Hawthorne could only rely on herself to figure it out. Looking up guides online didn’t seem very helpful, because she knew that her pursuit of Aiden Xavier was doomed to fail. But her goal wasn’t to actually make him fall for her; it was just to show Raina Lowell that her relationship with Aiden Xavier was far from distant.
So, when Hazel Hawthorne learned that Aiden Xavier was working overtime at the company on a weekend, she made a special trip to his favorite bakery, bought his favorite cake, and personally delivered it to his office.
This was a first for her.
When she appeared before Finn Quinn carrying the exquisite cake box, he was completely dumbfounded. "Young Madam, the Young Master is still in a meeting. Why don’t you wait in his office for a bit?"
"Sure. Don’t mind me, I can find it. You can get back to your work."
Finn Quinn had only known Hazel Hawthorne was coming because of a call from the front desk, so he had come to wait by the elevator specifically to see if the information was wrong.
But there she was.
Hazel Hawthorne walked into Aiden Xavier’s office with practiced ease. She had been here a few times before, but always in a hurry, never taking the time to look around.
The office decor was just like Aiden Xavier himself—cold and sterile, with no superfluous decorations. It was all straight lines and right angles. Everything was arranged in an orderly fashion. It was clear that Aiden Xavier had obsessive-compulsive tendencies; every surface was spotless, hinting at a strong case of mysophobia.
She sat in the chair in front of the desk, imagining what expression Aiden Xavier would have while sitting here.
