William winced in pain, his gaze turning sinister as he stared at the wound, but he didn’t fly into a rage and slap her.

His other hand clamped down on her jaw, gripping it with enough force to dislocate it.

Mia Kane was just as fierce. She was willing to let her jaw be dislocated if it meant she could bite down harder and tear a chunk of flesh from him.

The two were like birds of prey locked in a stalemate, each with a grip on the other’s throat.

Just then, Adrian Preston hurried over.

"Mia Kane, let go."
