Adrian’s every word was grim, as if he’d come from Hell itself.

His face was unnaturally pale, and large beads of sweat rolled down his skin.

He didn’t let go. Seeing this, Mia Kane steeled herself and pulled a small paring knife from her sleeve, holding it up to him.
