Everyone soon settled into their seats, enjoying breakfast in relative peace.
Leo was the first to finish and dash off, leaving behind the three adults. Xander, Aaron, and Ivy continued eating, though "peaceful" was slowly becoming an optimistic word.
"Oh, I finished my sandwich," Aaron announced dramatically, as if he had just accomplished something worthy of applause.
Then he turned to Ivy with a bright smile.
"Can you pass me that plate?"
Everyone at the table knew that smile was not friendly. It was the kind of smile that came with trouble... and a little bit of evil sprinkled on top.
Ivy met his gaze with a deadly glare.
Is there any way I can wipe that smile off his face? He’s clearly enjoying this way too much.
Still, she forced a polite smile and passed him the plate.
Aaron casually picked a sandwich and placed it on his plate, looking entirely too pleased with himself.
"Oh wait," he said, as if struck by another brilliant idea. "I also finished my juice. Can you fill it for me?"
He tapped the rim of his empty glass for emphasis, like a king issuing royal orders.
Before Ivy could respond, Butler Rupert stepped forward. "I will serve it for you, Second Young—"
"No need, Butler Rupert," Aaron interrupted smoothly. "I’m sure your madam won’t mind helping me."
That same polite smile remained on his face, but his eyes clearly said, I’m doing this on purpose.
Ivy’s expression darkened by a few shades.
Hehe... are you annoyed yet? Good. Because I’m just getting started.
Aaron had already made up his mind. In his head, he was on a noble mission to "save" Leo and Xander from Ivy. And the best way to do that, apparently, was to irritate her until she packed her bags and left voluntarily.
Butler Rupert hesitated, looking at Ivy with concern.
"It’s okay, Butler Rupert. I can manage," Ivy said with a reassuring smile that did not quite reach her eyes.
The old man sighed internally. When he glanced at Xander, who had been silently eating as if none of this chaos concerned him, he wondered if his master was choosing peace... or simply enjoying the show.
"See? I told you," Aaron continued cheerfully. "Your madam is very kind-hearted."
Then, as if remembering something important, he snapped his fingers lightly. "Ah, your gift. Here it is."
A servant stepped forward immediately.
"I got you a new pair of glasses," Aaron said, handing over a box. "Try them and tell me if you like them."
Butler Rupert opened it, carefully putting them on. The change was instant. He looked... upgraded.
"T-Thank you, Second Young Master," he said, visibly delighted.
"Distribute the rest of the gifts to the staff," Aaron instructed the servant, who nodded and left.
After finishing his meal, Aaron checked his watch and stood up.
"I’ll take my leave now," he said casually. Then, pausing, he added, "And yes, don’t come to pick Leo. I’ll bring him home today."
And just like that, he walked away, leaving behind a storm in human form.
Ivy’s grip on her fork tightened dangerously.
She exhaled sharply, blowing a strand of hair off her face as she looked away.
She had no idea how long she could tolerate Aaron’s antics, but one thing was certain—if he kept this up, her patience would not just wear thin... it would vanish entirely.
I need to do something before things spiral out of control.
Ivy knew herself well enough. If pushed too far, she might end up using her strength to deal with Aaron.
And while that was tempting... very tempting...
This time, she decided she would win differently.
Not with force.
But with strategy.
And when she did, she was going to wipe that annoying smile off his face permanently.
"Ahem."
The sudden sound of someone clearing their throat made Ivy snap out of her thoughts. She looked up, only to realize she had completely forgotten that Xander was still very much present.
Blinking quickly, she composed herself and resumed eating, deciding that the best strategy now was simple—ignore him and leave as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, peace clearly wasn’t on the menu.
"Do you want me to call a doctor?" Xander asked casually.
Ivy paused mid-bite.
She slowly looked up at him, suspicion flashing across her face.
"I’m sure jumping out of a window isn’t exactly harmless. You might have sprained something."
His tone remained calm, but his eyes were sharp, studying her every reaction.
There’s no way she walked away from that completely fine.
Ivy, meanwhile, was still processing the audacity of his statement.
Oh, now he’s concerned? After being the reason I had to use the window in the first place?
She exhaled deeply, clearly reaching the edge of her patience, and placed her fork down.
"About that," she said firmly, "please avoid bringing it up again. I don’t want anyone getting suspicious about... us."
She drew the line clearly, expecting him to understand and, preferably, cooperate.
Xander raised an eyebrow, then chuckled.
"Is that so?" he said, leaning back slightly. "And how am I supposed to stay at ease if you keep appearing in my room? I need some assurance you won’t end up sleeping in my bed again."
Wow. This man is unbelievable.
Ivy stared at him, disbelief written all over her face.
"Sleep with you? Never," she shot back instantly.
Xander remained completely unfazed.
Crossing his arms, he leaned back in his chair with a faint smirk. "But you already did once. And the result is Leo. So how exactly are you planning to guarantee it won’t happen again?"
He was clearly enjoying this far too much.
That’s for leaving without a word that morning.
As much as he teased her, a part of his mind drifted elsewhere.
He remembered how she had almost done the same thing again today. If he hadn’t been awake, she might have slipped away unnoticed once more.
Not that he had slept much anyway.
Every time she had unconsciously snuggled closer, his entire focus had shifted. It had taken far more restraint than he cared to admit just to stay still.
Part of him had enjoyed it.
A lot more than he should have.
But then, another thought crept in—Hunter’s report.
They had analyzed the laptop that was left behind. What they found didn’t directly accuse anyone, but it was enough to raise questions.
Sal had been using a hidden identity, one he only used to communicate with Raven Young—the sniper who had shot Xander.
There were multiple conversations confirming the involvement of the DarkKnight clan in the attack. Yet, frustratingly, there was still no clear information about the man behind it all.
And then came the part that bothered him the most.
Raven had contacted Sal again.
When they tracked the location...
It led straight to the place Ivy had visited with the guards.
Denwood Street.
Xander’s gaze subtly shifted toward Ivy, his expression unreadable.
What had once been coincidence was now starting to feel like something else entirely.
’Does that means Raven is alive and she is keeping an eye on Ivy’
