The Night I Left, He Turned Grey

Sarah Lynch’s nails dug deep into her flesh.

’Impossible.’

’Sean is here for me, not Leila Jennings.’

When Sean Sinclair came up, Sarah Lynch went to greet him, smiling as she called out, "Sean."

Only then did Sean Sinclair notice Sarah Lynch.

He himself was surprised. ’How did I not notice her just now?’

’Whatever.’

’That’s not important right now.’

Just as Leila Jennings was about to leave this place of conflict, Sean Sinclair suddenly called out to her.

"Leila Jennings!"

He walked right past Sarah Lynch.

A look of dejection flashed in the ignored Sarah Lynch’s eyes.

Seeing her expression, a pang of sympathy flashed in Julian Grant’s eyes. ’Should I tell Sarah that Leila Jennings and Sean Sinclair are already divorced?’ he wondered. ’That way, she wouldn’t be so consumed by worry and insecurity, would she?’

The crowd watched Sean Sinclair walk toward Leila Jennings, and they also watched Nathaniel Cole sidestep to block Sean Sinclair’s path.

He sheltered Leila Jennings behind him.

"President Sinclair, mind the occasion," the man said, his voice slightly deep, his sharp, hawk-like gaze warning Sean Sinclair.

Today was The Cole Group’s team-building event. The third floor was filled with Cole Group employees and members of Leila Jennings’s project team, and people were still walking back and forth on the deck.

Leaders have always needed to establish a sense of authority.

It was an unwritten rule among leadership to avoid bringing personal matters before colleagues and employees.

Besides, with so many people coming and going, if Sean Sinclair really caused a scene in a place like this, he would be the first one to lose face.

Because he was the one who cheated.

Sean Sinclair’s lips parted slightly. "Leila Jennings, there’s so much I want to say to you. Let’s go home together after you’re done, okay?"

"No," Leila Jennings replied.

The rejection was so blunt that Sean Sinclair froze on the spot. "There are things I need to explain to you back home."

"Is there anything left for us to talk about? Everything is perfectly clear." Leila Jennings looked at the once-familiar face, a wave of nausea rising within her. "You love Sarah Lynch, so just go on loving her. No one is going to stop you."

That wasn’t quite right, though.

Sean Sinclair’s mother would stop him.

"Leila Jennings!" Sean Sinclair’s pupils dilated instantly. ’How could she say something like that?!’

’I’m her husband!’

In that instant, he was so distraught that his eyes turned red.

Watching this, Sarah Lynch felt as if a knife had been viciously plunged into her chest. Sean Sinclair’s eyes had actually reddened because of Leila Jennings.

"Julian, do you think Sean likes Leila Jennings?" she asked softly.

Julian Grant frowned.

Having witnessed the entire exchange, the semi-invisible Daniel Lane thought to himself: ’Isn’t it obvious? Are you blind?’

He had pretty much figured it out now. Stellaxis Technologies’ President Sinclair’s wife was Leila Jennings, and his mistress was Sarah Lynch. And Leila Jennings was also Sarah Lynch’s former boss.

Daniel Lane felt he couldn’t stay in this spot any longer. He took out his phone to contact Caleb Dalton and Hailey Forrester, asking where they were.

The two, who were on the third floor, came out onto the deck and looked down at the group on the second-floor deck.

Something seemed off down there.

It looked just like two armies in a standoff.

Caleb Dalton spoke up. "President Cole, Miss Jennings, so this is where you were. Everyone’s been looking for you."

Nathaniel Cole lifted his chin slightly, gesturing for Leila Jennings to go up.

Leila Jennings turned without hesitation.

The cold wind howled as Sean Sinclair could only watch her receding figure.

He wanted to chase after her but was blocked.

The third floor had been booked by The Cole Group. How could he possibly get in?

Even though he couldn’t get in, he had no intention of leaving. He thought he would wait for Leila Jennings’s party to end so they could go home together.

He had too many questions in his mind.

Why didn’t she want the house?

Why didn’t she go to the parenting class?

Why did she lie to him?

Why would she say he should go love someone else?

Why... wasn’t she angry at all?

Just now, Leila Jennings had looked at him as if he were a stranger, yet they were clearly husband and wife.

Sarah Lynch knew that Sean Sinclair had fallen for Leila Jennings long ago; he just had never admitted it out loud.

But she still refused to believe it.

’How could Sean’s affections have shifted to someone else?’

"Sean, are you going to wait for Leila Jennings here?" Sarah Lynch walked over, speaking as if trying to deceive herself. "I know you want to explain to Leila about investing in me and lending me money, but it’s too cold on the deck. Why don’t we go back and wait?"

She knew perfectly well she could never repay the money Sean Sinclair had spent on her over the years and had already started changing her story as they had discussed beforehand. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Sean Sinclair insisted on waiting for Leila Jennings on the cruise ship.

Even though he already knew that Leila Jennings was living at Number 20, Norsen, he couldn’t bring himself to go back and wait.

Only by being on the same cruise ship could he feel even a little bit at ease.

"It’s cold out here. You should go back with Counselor Grant later."

Sarah Lynch could hardly believe her ears. ’Sean is telling me to go back with someone else?’

’He isn’t jealous at all?’

Julian Grant also said, "Sarah, when the cruise ship docks later, we should be heading back."

There were too many people on the cruise ship, and Sarah Lynch had her pride. She couldn’t make a scene here, so she smiled and said, "Okay."

However, just as she turned, her gaze fell upon the railing at the edge of the deck.

She moved closer.

A cry of alarm.

With a SPLASH, she plunged into the icy river water.

Julian Grant, who was right behind her, didn’t even have time to react. ’How could a perfectly fine person just fall into the water?’

"Someone fell overboard! Someone fell overboard!"

Julian Grant and Daniel Lane rushed to the railing and saw Sarah Lynch flailing in the water, continuously shouting, "Help! Sean, GLUG GLUG... save me!"

Julian Grant climbed onto the railing, about to jump in and save her, when Daniel Lane grabbed him around the waist.

"Are you fucking crazy? It’s so high, and the water is freezing!"

"Sarah can’t swim!"

"Fuck, she’s not yelling for you to save her! Julian Grant, I saw her jump in myself with my own two eyes!"

Julian Grant was held back tightly.

Hearing the commotion, Sean Sinclair hurried over. At such a critical moment, he didn’t have time to think. He couldn’t just stand by and watch Sarah Lynch drown.

SPLASH!

Another splash erupted.

Sean Sinclair had jumped in. The bone-chilling river water submerged his mouth and nose as he struggled to swim toward Sarah Lynch.

Julian Grant, meanwhile, went to a lower level, calling for people to fish them out.

From the third-floor deck, Caleb Dalton and the others watched Sarah Lynch fall into the river, watched Daniel Lane desperately hold back Julian Grant, and then watched Sean Sinclair jump into the water to pull Sarah Lynch out.

It was a sight to behold.

"Does she have masochistic tendencies?" Caleb Dalton remarked. "To be able to jump into water this cold."

Hailey Forrester watched Sean Sinclair drag Sarah Lynch onto the deck and pat her on the back to make her spit out the water. She couldn’t help but gasp, asking Caleb Dalton, "Do you men all fall for this sort of thing?"

"If you want to curse out Sean Sinclair, then curse out Sean Sinclair. Why are you looking at me?" Caleb Dalton pointed out Miss Forrester’s true thoughts. "You misjudged someone again, didn’t you?"

Hailey Forrester: "..."

The cruise ship, which had already set sail, had to turn back and return to the dock.

Soaking wet and exhausted, Sarah Lynch collapsed into Sean Sinclair’s arms and fainted.

Julian Grant watched this scene with a complicated expression. ’Did she really have to do this? Did she have to risk her own life just to test Sean Sinclair?’

He said to Sean Sinclair, "Get her home first."

Sean Sinclair lifted her into his arms.

The man who had just been vowing to wait for Leila Jennings was now carrying Sarah Lynch off the cruise ship.

Everyone turned to look at Leila Jennings, a hint of pity in their eyes.

But Leila Jennings simply raised her phone.

She snapped several photos in a row, then switched to video recording.

’This is all evidence, after all.’

She had always regretted not saving the items left behind after she found Sean Sinclair and Sarah Lynch in bed together, and even more so, that she hadn’t taken photos or videos.
