"She’s dressed more formally today, but that is definitely Leila Jennings."

Cherry Cole nodded in agreement with her mother. "Given that my brother is either as silent as a stone or has a tongue laced with poison, I’d say his chances are definitely slim."

Ms. Neville also nodded. "I’m already starting to worry for Nathaniel."

"Don’t you worry," Mr. Cole said. "Love makes the silent man eloquent and causes the thorny man to retract his spikes."

Cherry Cole looked at her father, surprised. "Dad, I didn’t know you could be so poetic."
