The Butterfly Effect: I Refuse This Ending

It has been four days since I got the quest.

After accepting the quest I got a book about basic Chinese and I read it like a desperate maniac.

After reading it I understood what that girl said.

She was, in fact, telling me the time and not making fun of me and my appearance.

Chen Shi means a two hour time period in the Chinese Zodiac system which is around 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

I opened the door and looked at the mysterious room then I moved towards the stairs.

After eating I reached the hall on the ground floor. I tried to strike up a conversation with the girl from before.

"Hello miss"

She looked at me.

"What do you want? Hurry up I don’t have time for someone like you"

Someone like me?

"Um.. can you tell me where we are?"

She looked at me with her eyes wide open. Looking a bit surprised but still she answered.

"This is a minor sect under the rule of the Phoenix clan. You oaf."

Why is she so rude?

She looked at me again, angrily this time.

"Are you making fun of me? Or did you forget your place?"

She pushed me.

"Go change in your uniform and come to the ground."

He left.

Everyone ran towards the ground. I looked around for my locker.

Like the room, the locker was also broken. I picked up my uniform and wore it then ran towards the ground.

"Everyone, as you know today is the first day of your official martial arts training." The bald man said. "Your background is of no use here."

"Everyone is equal, so remember if any of you caused trouble" He looked at me. "You will be punished"

Everyone was standing in a line. Moving one after another.

From what I could tell there were categories, The lowest was Foundation Core then Spirit Core then Golden Core then Nascent Soul. Each is represented by a different colour. Or so the student in front of me said when I peckered him from behind.

Suddenly a bright golden light emitted from the crystal.

Murmur rippled through the students.

The teachers immediately secured him and took him to the Main sect building. Which was on the left side of the tower gate.

The rest of the event had no such surprises and it went uneventful.

I stood there and waited.

"Finally" I muttered out.

After waiting for what felt like an eternity, It was finally my turn.

I placed my hands on the crystal.

"..."

Nothing.

The crystal was unresponsive. It emitted nothing. Why?

The sound continues to echo across the barren field.

As I was going back I heard "Stop, You orphan."

I turned back.

It was June, it seemed like she was dumping her frustration on me.

I glared.

I wanted to rip her face off, but neither I had physical power to defeat her in a fight nor I had a backer behind me like her father.

I turned around and walked away.

I was in my room researching the status window. Trying to find any information on how to obtain a foundational core.

There is nothing here.

I closed it.

There were still a few things that I didn’t understand. What did my parents do? What is the use of power stones? But I couldn’t find any information on them.

There were a few things which were weird.

The sect leader who never showed his face. The mysterious room in the corridor. And the biggest elephant in the room, the Tower in the middle.

I don’t know why but these things felt like they were somehow connected.

At that moment I felt a wave of motivation and decided to visit the forbidden room on a whim.

I looked outside the window. It was dark.

Then at the incense table.

Around 3 or 4 am.

I headed towards the piece of wood and opened it. I stepped outside and walked to the end of the corridor. I stood straight. Took a deep breath.

At least I got some information about the quest. Unlike other quests where I have no Idea what are they?
