- Chapter 1: Verso
Swimming out of the temple, Verso looked around feeling a subtle change in himself.
After realizing how impactful his Water Manipulation ability was in the Land of Atlantis, it made him feel like a natural predator in the space.
But again, this statement were hardly true when he was nothing compared to the elite creatures that lived in this realm.
He smiled while reaching into his soul space and as he triggered a manifestation.
A darkish stone spear with a cold, metallic tip materialized in his grip, it was pretty heavy but by using water manipulation he was able to support himself in using it.
This was the manifestation form of the Stone Gargoyle, a spear which was essentially designed for piercing and speed just like the summon itself.
He looked toward the far left side of the temple district. There he saw it. The lone Sea Serpent.
It was always there every time he reset the dungeon, almost like a literal gatekeeper of the ruins.
With a sinister smile, Verso began swimming straight toward it.
When he reached the optimal distance, he pulled his arm back, his muscles coiling like springs before he threw the spear with everything he had.
He then used Water Manipulation to create a pressurized jet behind the weapon to propel it through the water at a terrifying speed.
CLANG.
The spear struck the serpent’s scales, but it was like hitting a reinforced bunker wall. The weapon lost its momentum instantly and tumbled toward the seabed.
Although it did not draw any blood, it still served its purpose.
The Sea Serpent’s head snapped around, its eyes locking onto Verso before it let out a silent, vibrating hiss and charged towards him cutting through the water at full speed.
"Come to papa." Verso whispered.
He instantly summoned a Giant Golem.
As the massive boulders connected in a flash of grey light, the Golem began to sink. But before it could, Verso poured his entire focus into the water surrounding the giant, forcing it to stay afloat.
Somehow It worked exactly like he had practiced as the Golem hung in the water completely defying the laws of physics.
’Let’s see how it takes the nukes.’
Using his manipulation, Verso launched the Golem forward like a slow moving torpedo, directly into the path of the incoming serpent.
And just as the two were about to collide, he triggered the command.
’Self Destruct.’
BOOM.
The Golem erupted into a blinding flash of white light.
But unfortunately, because of the water pressure, the explosion did not create a massive fireball.
Instead, it just produced a crushing shockwave and a dense cloud of pulverized stone and mud.
"Perfect." Verso’s smile widened.
This was a core part of his plan. He wanted the rubble to act as a visual cover against the beast.
The Sea Serpent burst through the cloud of mud, its jaws completely open by instinct, ready to swallow whatever had just hit it.
"Didn’t your parents tell you to keep your mouth closed?"
Verso summoned two more golems in rapid succession.
This time he used his Water Manipulation to rotate them horizontally in the water, lining them up like torpedoes.
The Serpent, blinded by bloodlust and the debris, did not stop in its movements as it swam straight onto the ’delivery’ that Verso had placed.
"It would be a shame if a bomb went off in your mouth." Verso said with a grin.
He instantly commanded both of the golems to self destruct simultaneously.
The first Golem entered the Serpent’s massive unhinged mouth and detonated instantly.
While the second one was chomped down by the beast’s rear teeth, the Serpent’s bite force killing the summon a fraction of a second before it could trigger its self destruction.
BOOM!
The explosion inside the beast’s mouth was horrific.
The Serpent’s lower jaw was almost entirely torn away, hanging by a few shreds of muscles and scales. A thick, dark trail of blood began to cloud the water as the creature’s finally began to slowed down.
’It’s not dead yet...’ Verso watched, completely stunned.
He hadn’t expected an instant kill by blowing its brain off from the side, but seeing the creature still twitching was grim reminder of the strength difference between the two.
The Serpent’s remaining eye which was clouded with red blood was now fixed on Verso. The serpent was now possessed by a form of pure unmeasurable bloodlust.
It accelerated again, ignoring its mangled face. It desperately wanted a round two against Verso.
"Fuck me!"
He no longer had any cleaver tricks up his sleeves.
Doing the only thing he could, he reached for the last of his heavy hitters, summoning all six remaining Giant Golems in a curved wall between him and the charging monster.
"Blow! Now!"
As the six giants began to glow with a searing white light, Verso manifested Lil Bone in its Dark Scythe form in his hands.
Not bothering to look at the explosion Verso turned and swam in the opposite direction at full speed, desperately trying to outrun the impending shockwave.
BOOM!!!
The combined blast of six Goliaths rocked the entire city of Atlantis.
Following the blast, a massive shockwave spread across the water, hitting Verso like a physical punch to the back and throwing him dozens of meters away.
He tumbled through the ruins, his vision spinning until he was able to grab a pillar to steady himself.
He ignored the pain in his chest and stared at the massive cloud of dirt and stone, waiting for the notification from the system.
But all he got was silence as instead, a silhouette emerged from the dust.
It was a nightmare to look at.
The Serpent no longer had half of its face. Most of the scales on its front half had been stripped away as well, leaving behind raw, charred flesh exposed to the salt water.
It looked like a corpse that was moving fueled by sheer spite.
"Well... so much for delivering nukes." Verso muttered, tightening his grip on the Dark Scythe.
His Golems were gone and he had already spent a lot of his mana on Water Manipulation.
If he wanted to put that snake down, then he was going to have to take its life himself.
