Second Genesis

Grey scratched the back of his head.

"Hey, fellas, ladies," Grey chuckled awkwardly. "This really isn’t what it looks like. You know, I’m not a fan of killing women—especially pretty women. Teenage hormone thing, I know. I’m working on it. But you see, this woman—."

An arrow came for Grey’s head.

He dodged, catching the arrow in a sway of his magnetic field, spinning with a palm stretched out, and then hurling it back at double the speed.

It all happened too suddenly. A man standing on a balcony had his head impaled more swiftly than the Goddess’ command had come.

"Now that’s just rude. I was fucking talking, asshat."

All hell broke loose.

"Shit."

Grey turned toward the exit and booked it, only to skid to a stop seconds later. There were already a large number of individuals blocking his way out of that direction as well.

He took a glance at his stamina and cursed. It was topped up well, but he had no idea how long 351—.

Grey’s eyes widened.

’Well I’ll be damned.’

Grey suddenly grinned ear to ear.

"I lied. I killed that bitch, and I’d do it again. In fact, don’t send any more royal or imperial whatever the fuck bitches here again, otherwise I will be liable to suck them dry."

Grey’s body rolled with fiery hot energy. He looked like a dark gold sun standing in the middle of all the raging carnage. He stretched his palms out and his blood daggers slipped into his hands with a satisfying slap.

The world rolled to a slow around him and then he moved.

The senses of his Resonant Frame felt like they had been amped up with steroids. Despite the fact he had activated his Dark Solveign Frame first this time, it was still tens of times more powerful than ever before.

Thanks to it, Grey literally felt like his body was moving on a different timeline.

These people weren’t weak. Zone 234 only had four Vanguards, but this place was teeming with them as though they were ants crawling out of every nook and cranny.

But they fell beneath his blade like they were squawking chickens.

There were only so many people that could attack a single man at the same time, especially when they were an uncoordinated mob. And there were even fewer than could do so when said man was literally a blazing inferno of radiant heat. And somehow, even fewer than that when that man was naturally pulling from the sun that this building was naturally designed to take in large amounts of.

Blood flowed and Grey danced, almost seemingly without any intention of finding a way out.

His eyes darted back and forth and every time he found someone vulnerable, he slashed them to pieces.

He stepped back and out of the way of a pair of spears. Two more came for his back, but he pivoted as though he had eyes in the back of his head, sliding seamlessly between the two of them, spinning out, and then slashing both their heads off.

Grey leapt up, sweeping a kick out. Magnetic pulses made him spin faster, his leg hitting mach speeds by the time he kicked their skulls like soccer balls.

Their brains and bones splattered, the latter spraying out like shrapnel and killing dozens in a pelting rain of sturdy white.

Grey made a move to land, only to find a sea of blades waiting for him.

Just when they thought they had him, he vanished in a puff of smoke, landing in the midst of another sea of people and killing them all in a spinning cyclone before they could even realize the shift and change.

Grey’s laughter filled the air.

"COME ON YOU SONS OF BITCHES! GIVE ME MORE THAN THIS!"

Grey’s blade gutted someone. He twisted his wrist and pulled it out cleanly as inner organs spilled out.

The fear in their eyes was starting to accumulate. As the acrid scent of blood filled the air, the heaviness of death settling in, they realized that the man who had dared to kill an Imperial Princess in the Imperial Capital was certainly not someone laymen could take out.

Grey was a madman, and they couldn’t believe the Established Class aura radiating from him.

Suddenly, Grey came to a stop, exhaling a breath not out of fatigue, but in realization that he actually wasn’t all that tired at all.

A huge circle of corpses lay around him, many of which caught on fire as he continued to radiate dark solar flares that swallowed up any energy that came into contact with them.

The world peeled out into a separate reality, one where Grey stood untouched, and another where his enemies surrounded him from all sides.

Grey let one of his blades rest on his shoulder.

"Well, this was easier than I thought it would be. You guys are kind of pathetic."

Grey was expecting a large number of High Tier Holy Knights or something. But it seemed that even in the capital Holy Knights were a rarity. He had only killed a few in here, and they had all just ranged from lower Mid-Tier to the higher Mid-Tier levels.

But to Grey, the difference wasn’t much between them. He couldn’t believe that bastard Terran had almost killed him.

Though, granted, Terran was a Vector Class and he had been a Proving Class at the time.

"MOVE!"

A roar came from the doors and Grey looked over to find a fiery ball of white gold rushing over.

His eyes narrowed. ’High Tier...’

What he didn’t know was that this was also the man who had been following him from the very beginning.

Apollo.

On a distant building, two men stood.

"Should we help? The value of the Goddess’ favor is great." One of them said.

"Let little brother here feel out the situation. I have a feeling that this won’t be that simple."

"Maybe not. But the others will want a hand at this. We are not the only Duke family, there is another."

"Then let them test things out too. I don’t believe someone so bold will fall so easily."
