Second Genesis

Grey raised an eyebrow and then grinned. ’How convenient.’

Any thoughts Grey had of summoning his fang daggers was slotted away. If he did that, he might even end up an enemy of both sides.

His head spun around until he found where Megan’s sword had sprawled off into the distance. The guards hadn’t bothered to take it away because he had been chained too far from it.

The mohawk man’s blade was also an option, but it had embedded itself so far into a wall, and at such a level of heat that Grey was pretty sure it had bound itself to the stone. He didn’t want to waste time pulling it out.

’Decent weight.’

Grey was a bit surprised when he picked up the blade. It wasn’t exactly a needle blade, but it was very narrow and thin nonetheless. Yet, it had the heft of a slightly heavier than normal sword—maybe somewhere between ten to twelve pounds.

Grey suddenly dove to a side, a beam of crimson nearly taking his head out.

He rolled back up to his feet, his eyes snapping to the king’s position. The man was being half-dragged away by his guards, but he still tried to get a sneak attack in.

All Grey had for him was a middle finger he held up to the skies. But when he saw the flood of Holy Knights coming in, he changed his mind.

At the helm a man with blond hair so curly it formed a tall and proud afro on his head rode in on a white horse with a helm that formed a singular unicorn horn on its forehead.

The man wielded a lance in one hand and a shield in the other, and he was fucking massive, probably only a foot or so shorter than Blood.

’What’s with all these huge people? Fuck it.’

Grey’s Holy energy spilled out from him. He activated his Holy Frame, his white hair dancing with so many rays of gold it practically looked like he had become a blond pretty in a single blink.

"HEY!" Grey roared.

His voice boomed and left no quarter for being ignored.

The giant of a man riding a unicorn looked over, his eyes flashing in surprise.

Grey pointed his blade toward the king. "HE’S MINE."

The man blinked in surprise, wondering how in the hell a Proving Class brat was going to do anything against the king.

However, before the man could speak, Grey spoke again.

"DON’T LET THIS IDIOT FREE!"

After pointing to Blood, Grey bolted.

The man’s eyes widened when he recognized Blood. He had come here specifically to fight that man. There were others who were going to deal with the king and block his escape paths.

Had Grey done that on his own? Impossible.

The man looked back toward where Grey was, only to find the boy literally flying through the skies, laughing uproariously as though they weren’t in the middle of a bloody battlefield at all.

Lines of what almost looked like folding space but were in reality a winding magnetic field pulsed in silver and gold around Grey. His body was ripped forward, lighter than a feather and nearly as fast as a speeding bullet.

He only leapt once, but it was like he could have crossed the entire coliseum in a single bound.

Grey had underestimated just how right he was.

In just the few battles he had fought with his Helion Frame, all of its Abilities had not only been pushed to Level 6 at the worst, but every one of them had reached Active Link already.

He hadn’t realized just how powerful his Helion Frame was just yet because he had been either using it under the moonlight alone or restraining himself so that he didn’t reveal too many of his cards too early.

But the moment he chose to unleash its full brunt, activating his Frame and pulling on Helion Resonance, it almost felt like a rubber band had snapped. No, it was more like he had just let a 50 caliber rifle rip and it nearly took his shoulder with it. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

BANG.

Grey slammed into the lookout box the king had called home, skidding along the ground and slamming against the opposite wall before he could stop himself.

"Holy fucking shit that was sick. Needs some work, though."

Three spears came for his head in response.

Grey seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. He ducked one and then pivoted, his body becoming skinny in relation to the blades.

The two spears passed by his body, nearly impaling the owners of the other.

The guards were well trained and wouldn’t fall for such a simple trick. They were already pulling back and readying a second volley of attacks.

Grey was faster.

His blade danced, an echoing glow of Paladin Spirit forming a ring of gold in his crimson eyes.

His sword swung in an upward arc, colliding against the body of one of the spears. The spear bucked as its owner pulled it back, hooking against the opposing spear before they could both clear out of one another’s path.

Chi.

The two spear wielders found their backward momentum completely stalled by the other, their weapons attached at their hooked points.

As though by coincidence, the third spear thrust right into the path of the two of them, having expected the two to have already cleared out of the way.

Instead, all three interfered with one another, and two of them were yanked forward nearly off their feet. When the third spear collided at their mesh point, they lost their balance completely, falling toward Grey.

"How nice of you to provide your bellies."

In a single swing, Grey disemboweled the two guards with hooked spears, not even watching as their eyes widened in disbelief.

Grey jumped back out of the way of their falling spears, and then launched himself forward.

The last guard panicked, swinging his spear around wildly. He could hardly understand what Grey had just done, but he knew one thing.

He was no match.

And maybe that was why he found his head falling from his body without a single clue how Grey made it through his erratic defense.

Grey exhaled a breath and then looked to find a secret passage to the side.

"What a little rat."

Grey shot toward the darkness.
