The morning came too quickly.

Lilith woke before dawn, her eyes opening to darkness that was just beginning to soften at the edges. For a moment, she lay there in her bed, listening to the silence of the estate as it slept. Then it hit her, the realization that this was her last morning in this room. Her last morning in this place.

She felt a flutter of nervousness mixed with anticipation.

Then someone knocked at the door.

"Come in," Lilith called.

The door opened.

Sera appeared with a tray of breakfast, real breakfast, not the sparse offerings from the early days. Fruit, bread with honey, tea. Behind her came Agnes with Lilith’s original clothes folded neatly over her arm.

"Good morning," Agnes said. Her weathered face held something like approval. "The car is being prepared. You’ll leave within the hour."

Lilith nodded.

She wasn’t surprised. Had known it was coming.

"Thank you," Lilith said.

Sera set the breakfast down with a small smile. "You’re happy," she observed.

"I’m going to see my mother," Lilith said. And the smile that crossed her face was genuine. Bright. The kind of smile that came from knowing something good was about to happen. "I’m going home."

The shower was hot and restorative.

Lilith stood under the spray and felt the tension in her shoulders ease. Her body had healed so much over the past week. The major bruises had faded to pale shadows. The soreness had become manageable. She could move without that constant ache that had defined her first days here.

She was strong again.

Not the same as before, but something fundamental had shifted inside her, something she didn’t quite have words for, but she could feel it that something strong had shifted.

She washed her hair carefully, conditioning it, making sure she looked presentable when she arrived at the hospital.

When she emerged from the bathroom, Sera was waiting with her original clothes laid out on the bed. The grey shirt and black pants she’d arrived in. They looked small somehow. Like they belonged to a different girl. A girl who’d been desperate and broken and willing to destroy herself for her mother’s survival.

She was still that girl.

But she was also something more now.

Lilith dressed carefully. Brushed her dark hair back from her face. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw not the broken girl from the first morning, but someone who’d survived. Someone who’d endured. Someone who was walking out of this place as a survivor.

"You look beautiful," Sera said from the doorway. "Your mom’s going to be so happy to see you."

"Thank you," Lilith whispered. "For being kind to me."

"Always, do take care of yourself" Sera said fiercely.

"I will," Lilith promised. And she meant it.

The car was sleek and black and waiting in front of the estate.

Marcus stood beside it.

"Ready?" he asked.

"Yes," Lilith said. And she was. Every part of her was ready for this.

Agnes walked her to the car. The older woman placed a gentle hand on Lilith’s shoulder, the first purely kind touch she’d received from the staff here.

"Your mother is a strong woman," Agnes said quietly. "She raised a strong daughter. I’m glad you’re going back to her."

Lilith nodded, not trusting her voice.

Then she got in the car.

Marcus closed the door gently and moved to the driver’s seat. The interior smelled like leather and something expensive. There was water waiting in the cup holder. A blanket folded on the back seat.

Through the window, she could see the estate one last time. The massive stone structure that had been prison and something else all at once. The place where she’d learned she was stronger than she’d believed.

The car pulled away smoothly from the front entrance.

Trees began to pass. The long drive toward the gates appeared ahead. Lilith watched it approach with anticipation thrumming through her veins. She was actually leaving. Actually going home. Actually going to see her mother.

Four hours.

That’s all it would take.

Four hours and she’d be at the hospital. Four hours and she’d be holding her mother’s hand. Four hours and she’d be back to her old life.

The car rolled through the iron gates.

Lilith turned to look back at the estate, saw it receding behind her, saw the gates close slowly behind the car. A Chapter closing. A debt paid. A transaction completed.

But not the way she’d expected.

There were no emotional goodbyes. No final moments with the brothers. Just clean separation. A girl released from a contract, driving toward the future she’d been fighting for since the moment she signed that contract.

She smiled as the estate disappeared from view.

And settled back in the seat, anticipating home.

In Nicholas’s office, the brothers stood in absolute silence.

Nicholas was at the window. His silver eyes tracked the black car as it moved down the long drive. His hands were at his sides, but his whole body was rigid with the effort of not moving. Of not running after her. Of not stopping this.

Sebastian stood near the fireplace, his dark eyes fixed on Nicholas. His jaw was clenched so tightly it looked like it might crack. His hands were balled into fists, and everything about him radiated the desire to do something. Anything. To change this.

Lucian paced. Back and forth. Back and forth. His golden eyes were bright and burning, and every few steps he’d pause like he was about to say something, then start pacing again.

The mate bond was screaming.

All three of them could feel it, that cord deep in their chests connecting them to something that was moving further and further away. With every mile the car covered, the bond stretched.

This was what it meant to let a mate go.

"She’s happy," Sebastian said suddenly. His voice sounded almost like a question. Like he was trying to convince himself.

"Yes," Nicholas said. His voice was steady. Controlled. Everything their own wolves were not. "She’s happy to be leaving. Happy to be going to her mother."

"The bond..." Lucian started, "The bond is pulling so hard I can barely think."

"I know," Nicholas said quietly. "Mine too."
