Lilith’s hands were shaking as she packed.

The small bag that had held her possessions when she’d first arrived in omega housing was being filled again, a few changes of clothes, a thin blanket that had become her only comfort. Everything she owned fit into a space that could be held in two hands.

She was being moved.

The words kept repeating in her mind even as she mechanically gathered her things. Being moved. Reassigned. Delivered. Whatever euphemism was used, the reality was the same: she was being sent back to serve the Blackwood alphas.

Dora waited in the doorway, her expression carefully neutral.

The overseer had said very little when she’d come to collect Lilith from Garrett’s office. Just: "Pack a bag. Take what you need." No explanation. No sympathy. Just the delivery of an order.

Lilith zipped the bag and stood on legs that felt unsteady.

"Ready?" Dora asked.

"No," Lilith said, and it was the most honest thing she’d said all day.

But she followed Dora out of the apartment anyway.

The walk through omega housing drew attention immediately.

Omegas moved through the common areas, some heading to dinner, some heading to rest after their shifts. When they saw Lilith being escorted by Dora, conversations stopped. Eyes followed. Understanding rippled through the space.

Emma was near the communal kitchen. When she saw Lilith, her kind eyes widened. She started to move forward, then seemed to think better of it. Instead, she just watched as Lilith passed, her expression filled with a mixture of concern and resignation.

That look, that understanding...hit Lilith harder than anything else could have.

Emma knew. Everyone knew. The omegas understood exactly what being escorted to exclusive guest quarters meant. It meant assignment. It meant service. It meant belonging to someone other than the pack.

Cole was leaning against a wall near the corridor junction. When she saw Lilith, a small smirk played at her lips. Not cruel, exactly, but the expression of someone who’d predicted this outcome all along.

Lilith kept her eyes forward and didn’t respond to either of them.

As they moved deeper into the compound, the architecture began to shift.

The simple, functional corridors of omega housing gave way to more ornate passages. The lighting became softer. The walls became more carefully decorated. The atmosphere transformed from communal and basic to exclusive and luxurious.

With each step away from the omega section, Lilith felt something inside her contract.

This was the compound’s power structure made visible through architecture. The farther you moved from the omega quarters, the more valuable you became. The more resources were invested in your space. The more beautiful and comfortable your surroundings.

And she was being moved to the most exclusive section of all.

Pack members they passed...warriors, staff members, visiting alphas’ entourages, all noticed the omega being escorted by Dora toward the guest quarters. Lilith caught snippets of their reactions as she walked past:

A warrior’s eyebrow raising in recognition.

A staff member whispering something to a colleague.

Two visiting warriors exchanging a look that suggested they understood exactly what was happening.

The whispers would start. The rumors would form. By evening, everyone at the Summit would know: an omega had been assigned to the Blackwood alphas. The question of why would be the subject of speculation across the entire compound.

Lilith’s mind was fragmenting.

One part of her was present in the moment, walking through corridors, following Dora, existing in her body. But another part of her had retreated into memory. Into fear.

She remembered the Blackwood estate. The first moment she’d arrived, terrified and desperate. The brothers’ overwhelming presence. Nicholas’s controlled intensity. Sebastian’s precision. Lucian’s raw, feral hunger.

She remembered their hands on her body. Remembered the way they’d taken what they wanted from her. Remembered the contract making it all legal. Making her body theirs to use.

But that wasn’t what the dreams had shown her.

The dreams showed something different. Something that didn’t match the contract at all. The dreams showed desire. Recognition. Possession born of need rather than obligation.

The dreams showed her body responding in ways that terrified her because she couldn’t control them.

Lilith’s breathing became shallow.

She forced herself to focus on Dora’s back, on the corridor ahead, on anything except the cascade of conflicting memories and sensations threatening to overwhelm her.

They were getting close now.

The corridors were becoming noticeably less populated. The exclusive guest quarters section of the compound was designed for privacy. Important guests, powerful alphas....required isolation from the regular pack activities. Required space where political maneuvering and private business could happen without observation.

Lilith’s heartbeat was accelerating with each step.

The bond was pulling at her now. Not gently. Not subtly. But with increasing intensity, like a rope tightening around her chest. With each step closer to the Blackwood quarters, the pull became stronger.

Her body knew where she was going. Something in her recognized something. Responded to something. Reached toward something.

But her mind rejected it completely.

This wasn’t right. This wasn’t fair. She’d paid a debt. She’d survived Sixteen days. She’d been released. She should be free.

But she wasn’t free. She’d never been free.

They reached the corridor that led to the east wing exclusive quarters.

The space was noticeably different from the rest of the compound. The walls were finished with expensive wood paneling. The lighting was warm and deliberate. The air itself seemed to carry more weight, the weight of power, of importance, of privilege.

Guards were positioned at intervals. Warriors loyal to Garrett, positioned to ensure that guests in the exclusive quarters had security and privacy.

The guards recognized Dora and nodded her through without question.

The door was heavy oak, polished to a deep shine. The insignia of the Blackwood family, three intertwined wolves....was carved into the wood in intricate detail. The message was unmistakable: this space belonged to them. This was their territory within Shadowmere.

Lilith felt the pull of the bond intensify so sharply that she gasped.
