From Yun Zijin’s perspective, Su Mengyao had forcefully pushed her way into a circle of men, taken Sheng Yang by the arm, said something to him, and was now leading him straight toward her.

Sheng Yang’s "Sister Yun" left Su Mengyao and her little follower completely baffled.

’Weren’t they here together for Wu Zicheng’s birthday party? Everyone thought Yun Zijin was Sheng Yang’s date.’

Su Mengyao looked at Yun Zijin, her face filled with questions.

"I told you, we’re not a couple."

Yun Zijin and Su Mengyao answered at almost the exact same time, but their replies weren’t just slightly different—they were completely contradictory.

The first was from Yun Zijin, the second from Su Mengyao.

"We were just talking a moment ago. How can you say we don’t know each other?"

Su Mengyao was very unhappy with Yun Zijin’s blatant lie.

"We just met for the first time today. If knowing someone’s name and status counts as ’knowing’ them, then I guess I ’know’ a lot of people online, too."

Yun Zijin didn’t think the few sentences they’d just exchanged counted as truly knowing each other.

At most, they were strangers who’d made a slight impression on one another.

Su Mengyao was speechless.

"Fine, then let’s add each other on WeChat right now. We can meet up for food and shopping later. Then we’ll know each other, right?"

With that, Su Mengyao pulled her phone from her purse and gave Yun Zijin a haughty look. "Well? Where’s your phone?"

Yun Zijin was silent.

"Hurry up! So many people want my WeChat, and I don’t give it to them. Consider yourself lucky!"

Yun Zijin took out her phone, opened her WeChat QR code, and held it out in front of Su Mengyao.

Yun Zijin and Su Mengyao had just added each other as friends when Wu Zicheng walked over.

"I just finished making my rounds. Figured I’d sneak over to see you guys! Well, well... aren’t you the lucky one."

Wu Zicheng said teasingly, glancing at Yun Zijin and Su Mengyao, who were seated in the lounge area.

"What are you talking about! This is my Sister Yun! You’d better call her that, too!"

’She’s the sole investor in my bar. I absolutely cannot afford to offend her.’

Wu Zicheng looked over at Yun Zijin. He had been quite surprised, in fact, to hear Sheng Yang call her "Sister Yun."

After all, Sheng Yang was the infamous Demon Lord of Mayhem of Dijing. Many people would rather offend the heirs of the four great families than get on Sheng Yang’s bad side.

The title "Demon Lord of Mayhem" wasn’t just for show.

"Miss Yun, why are you having Second Young Master Sheng call you ’sister’? If other people were to hear that, it might cause some unnecessary misunderstandings. That wouldn’t be good, would it?"

Su Mengyao’s follower, Yang Jiaqian, had suddenly interjected with a malicious comment.

Her words didn’t just make Yun Zijin uncomfortable; Sheng Yang found them incredibly grating as well.

"I’m showing my respect for Sister Yun. If your mind is dirty enough to twist that, you should go get your head checked."

Sheng Yang shot back without a hint of politeness. ’Since when does every Tom, Dick, and Harry get to tell me what to do?’

"Yang Jiaqian, if you can’t speak properly, then shut up! If I’d known you were going to act like this, I never would have agreed to bring you!"

’She only got in by piggybacking on my invitation, and she can’t even keep a low profile. She’s unbelievably stupid!’

’What was I even thinking when I agreed to bring her?’ Su Mengyao seriously questioned her own judgment.

Yun Zijin hadn’t even opened her mouth, and someone had already put the girl in her place. She couldn’t have been more pleased.

Her gaze toward Yang Jiaqian carried a hint of mockery.

’Being clever is one thing,’ she thought, ’but using that cleverness to slander others is just unpleasant.’

Wu Zicheng and Sheng Yang’s expressions darkened as well. ’Where did this idiot come from?’ they thought. ’If you don’t know how to talk, you might as well sew your mouth shut.’

When Yang Jiaqian saw that both Sheng Yang and Wu Zicheng were defending Yun Zijin, her face fell. Tears welled up in her eyes, making her look oh-so-pitiful.

But everyone present had seen it all before; her little act wasn’t going to fool anyone.

"That’s enough!" Su Mengyao snapped. "Don’t think a few tears will make anyone feel sorry for you. If you don’t want to be here anymore, just say so. I’ll have someone take you home!"

’Yang Jiaqian was just embarrassing her,’ Su Mengyao fumed internally. ’What kind of wannabe damsel in distress is this? She’s not even that pretty, but she still dares to pull these tricks? She has absolutely no self-awareness!’

"I agree, she doesn’t seem to fit in here," Wu Zicheng said. "Su Mengyao, you should have someone come pick her up."

’The fact that Sheng Yang calls her ’Sister’ proves her importance to him. If I can’t even handle a small matter like this on my own territory,’ Wu Zicheng thought, ’I’ll have to go to Sheng Yang and beg for forgiveness after the party.’

Yun Zijin herself didn’t particularly mind, but since Wu Zicheng was standing up for her, she certainly wasn’t going to undermine him.

Su Mengyao, of course, recognized this as a perfect opportunity to get on Yun Zijin’s good side. She immediately pulled out her phone to call the driver who had dropped them off.
