Upon hearing Ye Xuan’s words, the determined look in Mo Chengtian’s eyes instantly turned to excitement.

"Thank you for your praise, Your Highness. Is there anything else you require? If not, I will take my leave. Should you have any commands, you can call for me at any time. I am temporarily staying here at the Celestial One Inn."

"I only wonder... would Your Highness be willing to accept my humble Mo family? While we lack abundant talent and our influence is not great, we are absolutely loyal. No matter what you ask of me, even if it means walking through fire and flames, I swear I would not be human if I so much as frowned."

Seizing on Ye Xuan’s words, Mo Chengtian immediately pressed his advantage, looking at Ye Xuan with eager eyes.

"Since Patriarch Mo is so sincere, I suppose I can reluctantly accept the Mo family. You are a bit small, it’s true, but I admire your boldness, Patriarch. Rest assured, although your family is minor now, if you follow me, I’ll make sure you prosper. Becoming one of the continent’s foremost powers in the future isn’t out of the question. From now on, I’ve got your back."

Ye Xuan said, his tone self-assured and his expression one of appreciation.

Mo Chengtian trembled with excitement and exclaimed, "Thank you for your patronage, Your Highness! I will give my all and serve you until my dying day."

With that, he slapped Mo Cong hard on the back of the head. "What are you waiting for? Greet His Highness!"

"Mo Cong greets Your Highness," Mo Cong said in a panic.

Ye Xuan smiled faintly. "If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have met Patriarch Mo today. Here’s a Pill. Take it for your injuries. Consider it a sign that I’m in a good mood lately. Otherwise, I rarely agree to take on followers."

Ye Xuan tossed out a Pill, his tone casual.

"Yes, yes! The honor is all mine," Mo Chengtian said, ecstatic. He slapped Mo Cong on the head again, so hard it made him dizzy. "His Highness has given you a Pill! Aren’t you going to thank him?"

"Thank you, Your Highness," Mo Cong said, on the verge of tears. ’I was captured and brutally beaten by Ye Xuan and Jin Lin, and now I’m covered in injuries. The guy gives me a Healing Medicine, and not only does my own father hit me again, but I’m also supposed to be weeping with gratitude. Why is life so damn hard?’

Despite his thoughts, Mo Cong gratefully swallowed the Pill.

The next moment, a potent medicinal energy diffused throughout his body. Mo Cong felt a wave of heat, and the aching pain was replaced by a pleasant, tingling numbness as warm currents flowed through him.

He pushed up his sleeve and was stunned to see that his arm, once covered in bloody cuts and bruises, was now smooth and fair as jade.

’What kind of Pill is this? It’s too damn amazing!’

Mo Cong was utterly dumbfounded. ’It’s only been a few minutes, and my injuries are completely healed.’

Mo Chengtian’s eyes lit up as he watched from the side. ’Holy hell, that’s a divine medicine! It’s not like I don’t have Fifth Grade Healing Medicine on me, but even my best one would take several hours to heal my son’s wounds. Yet the Pill His Highness produced did the job in minutes.’

The Shopkeeper of the Celestial One Inn, along with the inn’s guards, stood a short distance away. He knew exactly why the Mo family had come and had posted his men there to prevent a conflict from breaking out.

The door opened, and Jin Lin, Mo Chengtian, and Mo Cong emerged.

Judging by their expressions, it seemed no conflict had occurred. Shopkeeper Wu breathed a quiet sigh of relief. ’Looks like those two young men know what they’re doing. I wonder how they managed to avoid a clash with the Mo family.’

"Patriarch, is the young master alright?"

Several of the Mo family’s elders hurried over, asking with concern. Seeing that Mo Cong was unharmed, one of them shot a vicious glare at Jin Lin and said coldly, "You were smart this time. If you had hurt our young master, I don’t care what your background is, you would have faced the consequences."

’They must have been the ones to back down,’ they thought.

Mo Chengtian, who had been respectfully preparing to see Jin Lin off, turned pale with fright upon hearing the elder’s words. He whipped around and sent a resounding slap across the elder’s face, knocking him into a nearby wall.

"You bastard! How dare you speak to Senior Jin Lin like that!" Mo Chengtian roared.

’I’ve only just managed to curry favor with His Highness. These elders are so blind! If they anger His Highness and Senior Jin Lin, all my hard work will have been for nothing.’

The elder slumped in the corner, a few teeth knocked out, and stared blankly at Patriarch Mo Chengtian, completely bewildered as to what had just happened.

The other elders, as well as Shopkeeper Wu watching from a distance, were equally baffled.

They exchanged glances, finally sensing that something was very wrong.

’When Mo Chengtian came out, he was beaming, and he was incredibly deferential to that young man named Jin Lin. What’s going on?’

’And Mo Cong, he just stood there with his head down, as meek as a puppy, all but wagging his tail.’

’Meanwhile, Jin Lin stood with his hands clasped behind his back, perfectly at ease, his expression cool and aloof.’

’What in the world happened? Didn’t the Patriarch go in there to forcefully get the young master back? This situation doesn’t seem right at all.’

The Mo family elders exchanged confused glances, unable to make heads or tails of the situation.

"Senior Jin Lin, a disciple of my Mo family just failed to know his place and offended you with his words. Please rest assured, Senior. When we return, I will be sure to teach him a harsh lesson and strip him of his position as an elder," Mo Chengtian said cautiously, terrified that the elder’s outburst had angered Jin Lin.

Hearing this, the elders were completely stupefied. They stared blankly at Mo Chengtian and Jin Lin, feeling like their brains had short-circuited.

Shopkeeper Wu was also frozen in astonishment.

’Who was Mo Chengtian? He was the Patriarch of the Mo family, one of the most powerful families in Black Stone City! A Tier Six Martial Venerable, a man whose stomp could make the entire city tremble!’

’What on earth did those two do to make the Mo Patriarch so respectful and subservient?’

Jin Lin couldn’t be bothered with Mo Chengtian’s flattery and turned back into the room.

"Patriarch... what in the world is going on?" one of the elders asked tentatively after Jin Lin had gone inside. "Didn’t you go in to get the young master out? Why are you being so polite to them?"

"What ’them’ and ’us’?" Mo Chengtian said, his face cold. "Remember this: from now on, those two are the masters of our Mo family. We cannot show them the slightest disrespect. Whatever they command, we must carry it out to perfection."

"The masters of our Mo family?" The elders were dumbstruck. ’What is he talking about?’

Since it concerned a major family matter, the elders ignored Mo Chengtian’s usual domineering attitude and pressed, "Patriarch, what is going on? When did the Mo family start acknowledging them as our masters?"

"We’ll discuss this when we get back. For now, completing His Highness’s command is what’s important." Mo Chengtian waved his hand, offering no further explanation. ’This first task for His Highness must be completed perfectly.’

"Shopkeeper, what was all that about? Since when is Patriarch Mo Chengtian of the Mo family so easygoing?"

The inn guards behind Shopkeeper Wu asked, their faces full of confusion.

"You’re asking me? Who am I supposed to ask? It’s for the best that a fight didn’t break out. You all keep a close watch. I have a feeling tonight won’t be peaceful. If those two have any requests, you are to fulfill them without fail."

A sharp glint flashed in Shopkeeper Wu’s eyes. He was an astute man and knew Mo Chengtian’s character better than anyone—arrogant and domineering. Even disciples from major powers wouldn’t get off easy if they offended the Mo family in Black Stone City. His attitude just now was very telling.

’Those two young men who bought the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil... they’re not simple. Not simple at all.’

Sensing Mo Chengtian and his entourage departing respectfully, Ye Xuan smiled faintly.

"Your Highness, it seems the Mo family is now devoted to serving you. But I don’t understand. They’re just a tiny family within the Human Race. Wiping them out would be effortless. Is there really a need to take them on as servants?" Jin Lin said disdainfully.

Jin Lin had always done as it pleased. It paid no mind to those weaker than itself. It could kill someone like Mo Chengtian with a single slap, so why bother taking them as servants?

"That’s what you don’t understand," Ye Xuan said calmly. "The reason the Human Race is so powerful is its ability to unite all possible forces. Whether Profound Beast or human, an individual’s strength, no matter how great, has its limits. This is why the great powers of the Human Race can endure for thousands, even tens of thousands of years."

Jin Lin was inwardly shaken. ’His Highness’s ambitions are truly lofty, his insight profound.’

Thinking it over, it realized this was true. The reason the Human Race dominated the continent while Profound Beasts and Demon Beasts were suppressed was that humans formed massive, unified powers. In contrast, Demon Beasts and Profound Beasts were constantly fighting amongst themselves, never able to form a cohesive force.

’If all the Profound Beasts and Demon Beasts truly united, would the Human Race still be in charge?’

’His Highness is going to such great lengths for the rise of our Profound Beast race. No wonder he wants to blend in with humans; he must be trying to learn the essence of their strength.’
