"Ophelia Gauss!"

The first name among the final ten candidates was finally called. A silver-haired girl calmly walked forward.

Her long hair flowed behind her, but her eyes appeared distant and emotionless, as though she held no interest in anything around her.

"Honoria."

She casually summoned her monster. A two-meter-tall female humanoid monster instantly appeared upon the platform.

It possessed two large wings on its back and wore valkyrie-like armor along with a helmet, while wielding both a gladius and shield in its hands.

’Finally, the first Rank S monster has appeared.’ Oliver thought seriously.

The majority of candidates who had been selected so far all possessed Rank A monsters. That was already considered an excellent rank.

But Rank S, stood on an entirely different level above the rest.

All the Grandmasters suddenly raised their hands simultaneously. It seemed every single one of them wanted to recruit her into their respective houses.

"Wow! Amazing!"

All the candidates who had already passed the selection were completely astonished. This was the very first time all the Grandmasters and Vice-Grandmasters had raised their hands together for a single candidate.

"Please choose which house you wish to enter." one of the staff members requested politely.

"I choose... House of Seraphyne." Ophelia answered slowly.

"An excellent choice, young lady. My house will provide you with exceptional resources for your growth." Grandmaster Angelique said gracefully.

She possessed beautiful blue eyes and long, straight silver-white hair that enhanced her elegant appearance even further.

The other Grandmasters glanced toward her with visible jealousy. However, since the candidate had already made her choice, there was nothing they could do anymore.

"Next, Gloria Azustera."

Gloria flinched slightly the moment her name was called.

She then slowly walked toward the platform while nervousness filled her heart as the eyes of the highest-ranking members of the Academy Houses focused entirely on her.

’Which monster should I choose?’ she thought hesitantly.

"Ehem!" One of the Grandmasters suddenly coughed impatiently, signaling her to hurry up.

Gloria immediately closed her eyes and placed her hand over her chest.

"Come and shine, Lumikee!"

A bright light instantly filled the platform before a monster appeared and began circling around the hall gracefully.

The monster resembled a tiny girl with four small wings on her back while holding a key-shaped staff in her hand. Its overall size was only comparable to that of a small child.

"So cute!"

Many female students throughout the hall immediately became interested in the adorable appearance of the monster.

Lumikee circled around the entire hall gracefully before suddenly stopping above Oliver. The small fairy-like monster stared at him curiously for several seconds.

Oliver also looked back at it. Then, Lumikee quickly flew back toward Gloria.

"Another Rank S..." Oliver muttered softly. A smile slowly appeared on his face.

"A fairy-type monster!" Nala excitedly raised his hand immediately. However, just like before, all the other Houses also raised their hands at the same time.

"I raised my hand first! That means I should get to recruit her." Nala complained loudly.

"Unfortunately, that is not how this works, Grandmaster Nala." Angelique replied elegantly with a smile.

"Seraphyne! I choose House Seraphyne!" Gloria declared excitedly without hesitation.

"Oh my... thank you, young lady. That is indeed a very wise choice." Angelique said gracefully while covering her mouth with a satisfied smile.

"Tch! I really hate situations like this." Nala muttered while folding his arms unhappily.

The top three houses were simply too dominant. Whenever one of them raised their hands for a candidate, the candidate would almost always choose one of those houses without hesitation.

Although the other four houses possessed larger numbers of students overall, the average quality of their members was undeniably lower compared to the top three.

Soon after, five more candidates stepped forward to showcase their strength. And every single one of them possessed Rank S monsters, each one unique and incredibly powerful.

Out of those five candidates, three were recruited into House of Noctis, while the remaining two joined House of Seraphyne and House of Mythragon respectively.

"Next, Kai Atenza!"

The moment his name was called, a white-haired young man slowly walked forward. Almost instantly, murmurs spread throughout the entire hall as whispers could be heard from all directions.

Oliver looked around in confusion before turning toward Max.

"You don’t know him?!" Max whispered in surprise.

"He’s extremely famous throughout the kingdom. During his Tamer Ritual, his monster suddenly went berserk and killed everyone in his family except for his mother. People gave him many nicknames after that incident..."

"But the most famous one is....’The Boy Without Shadow.’ "

"Boy without shadow...?" Oliver muttered quietly.

He never expected someone with such a tragic background to be present here. To experience something like that at such a young age, it must have been truly horrifying.

Oliver looked into Kai’s eyes as he walked pass him. For some reason, they felt incredibly lonely. They strangely reminded Oliver of his own eyes during the final year of his previous life, when he had been abandoned and betrayed by everyone around him.

The moment Kai stepped onto the platform, Oliver suddenly raised his eyebrows.

"Without shadow? But why I can clearly see his shadow beneath him." Oliver commented in confusion.

However, he quickly received the answer. The shadow beneath Kai suddenly began vibrating violently. Kai widened his stance before clasping both fists tightly in front of him.

"Devour them! Umbragore!"

The instant he shouted, the shadow beneath him rapidly expanded and spread across the entire floor. All the candidates were shocked, and several of them even jumped onto their chairs in fear.

Then, from behind Kai, a monster slowly crawled out from the shadows themselves.

It possessed four glowing red eyes, while its fur was made entirely from living shadows that constantly shifted and moved. Its overall appearance resembled a gigantic hyena standing nearly three meters tall.

Its teeth were incredibly sharp and dripped with thick black saliva. The monster slowly glanced around the entire hall with its four glowing red eyes.

The moment its gaze swept across the area, many candidates and even some students on the upper floors suddenly found it difficult to breathe, as though invisible hands were choking them.

That alone showed just how terrifying the monster’s pressure truly was.

Oliver’s eyes widened completely in shock as he stared at the creature.
