’To reach the fracture point I need to get past the boss’s defense.’
’The boss uses Lira’s defense.’
’Against Lira’s defense I used the fake initiation.’
’The boss already saw the fake initiation once.’
’If I use it again it’ll anticipate it.’
’I need a fake initiation of the fake initiation.’
Kai processed it in two seconds.
He moved — the side kick initiation, the same as before.
The boss began adjusting its weight for the fake initiation, anticipating the elbow would come from the other angle.
Kai completed the kick.
The real kick landed where the boss had left the side unprotected while preparing for the fake initiation of the fake initiation.
The boss absorbed the kick to its side and lost its footing.
Kai entered.
Resonant Impact at the fracture point — direct, with all available Qi concentrated into the smallest possible area.
The fracture didn’t expand.
It opened.
---
The core was exposed.
The same blue point of light the creatures from the previous levels had, brighter now, pulsing at the accelerated rhythm of something that knows it’s in danger.
Kai looked at it.
The boss raised its arm for the counterattack.
Kai was already applying the second Resonant Impact — this time directly to the core, not to the surface.
Not to the material.
To the point of light.
The core stopped pulsing.
The boss halted mid-counterattack — arm in the air, weight forward, its entire movement system interrupted the moment the core received the impact.
And it came undone.
The black material falling in silent dust to the corridor floor, just like Serah and Lira’s bosses.
---
[System — update]
[Resonant Impact — Level 1 → direct core application documented]
[New variation registered: Deep Resonant Impact]

Kai stood still in level 4.
The black dust on the floor. The corridor empty except for him.
Left shoulder with the impact from the counterattack that had landed before the end. Right knee from level 3. Left forearm from before.
Nothing serious.
The opening to level 5 was at the end.
Kai looked at it.
Qi active and stable. New techniques registered. The labyrinth level clearly escalating in difficulty with each room.
’Level 5.’
’After the hardest boss so far.’
’What’s in level 5.’
He walked toward the opening with the stride of someone who has exactly the amount of energy needed and already knows how he wants to use it.
---
POV — Serah / Level 5
The opening of level 5 led to a circular chamber.
No corridors. No internal walls. An open chamber with a twelve-meter ceiling and curved walls of the same black material.
Empty.
Serah entered and assessed.
No visible creatures. No sound of movement in enclosed spaces. No aura of anything with an energy signature.
Just the chamber.
And on the other side, the opening to level 6.
Serah looked at the level 6 opening.
Looked at the empty chamber between her and that opening.
Thirty meters of empty chamber.
The silver markings pulsed — real fatigue, not feigned, the kind that accumulates after four levels of structural ice and claws and primordial aura pushed to the limit.
’Thirty meters.’
’No creatures.’
’The opening to the next level is on the other side.’
Serah crossed the thirty meters in four seconds and entered level 6.
---
Level 6 was also a circular chamber.
Also empty.
With the opening to level 7 on the other side.
Serah looked at it.
’Another level.’
’Another empty level.’
’How many are there.’
She crossed in four seconds and entered level 7.
---
Level 7 was not empty.
It was full.
Not of creatures — of doors. Twenty doors on the circular wall, all identical, all closed. No indication of which led to the center and which didn’t.
Serah looked at them.
Looked at the chamber.
Looked back at the doors.
"Twenty doors."
The silver markings at thirty-five percent.
"After four levels of structural ice."
Pause.
"And two empty levels."
---
[DraconicLegacy: HAHAHAHA SERAH HAS A FACE LIKE SHE CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE]
[RagingMutant: (╬ Ò﹏Ó) TWENTY DOORS AFTER ALL THAT (╬ Ò﹏Ó)]
[Drakeking: the labyrinth wore her down physically and now hits her with a mental puzzle]
[Jack_Moore: perverse design. excellent.]
[Dr_Snow: Serah staring at twenty doors with thirty-five percent markings. that’s real exhaustion.]
[Brandon_Haddan: (╥_╥) Serah deserves a break (╥_╥)]
---
Lira / Levels 5 and 6
Lira entered level 5 with zero percent blood magic available.
She saw the circular chamber.
Saw the opening to level 6 on the other side.
"Ah."
She crossed in three seconds.
Level 6 — empty circular chamber. Opening to level 7 on the other side.
Lira stopped for a moment in level 6.
Looked at the empty chamber.
Looked at her own hands.
’Zero percent.’
’If level 7 has something that requires magic...’
She didn’t finish the thought.
Crossed in three seconds.
---
She reached level 7 and saw the twenty doors.
Saw Serah standing in the center of the chamber looking at them.
The two looked at each other.
"When did you get here?" Lira said.
"Ten seconds ago."
"Which one’s the right one?"
"I don’t know yet."
Lira looked at the twenty doors.
"How convenient," she said.
It wasn’t sarcasm. It was the flat acknowledgment of someone who has reached the limit of what they consider reasonable.
"What if we run?"
Serah looked at her.
"Which one?"
"All of them. Sequentially. The right one will open."
Serah looked at the twenty doors.
Looked at Lira.
"Do you have the energy for that?"
"I have legs."
Serah’s markings pulsed.
"Fine."
---
[DraconicLegacy: HAHAHAHA "I HAVE LEGS"]
[RagingMutant: ┗(°0°)┛ ┗(°0°)┛ LIRA PROPOSED RUNNING TO ALL THE DOORS ┗(°0°)┛ ┗(°0°)┛]
[Drakeking: the most direct strategy possible from a vampire with zero magic]
[Jack_Moore: Serah and Lira cooperating out of necessity. same as at the fortress.]
[Brandon_Haddan: "do you have the energy for that?" "I have legs"]
[Dr_Snow: (ง’̀-’́)ง (ง’̀-’́)ง RUN (ง’̀-’́)ง (ง’̀-’́)ง]
---
They ran.
Not in the sense that an SSS and an SS run when they want to — in the sense that two exhausted entities after four levels of combat plus two empty levels move with what they have left.
Which was still considerably faster than any Aethon hunter.
First door — locked.
Second — locked.
Third — locked.
Fourth — locked.
Fifth —
It opened.
Both stopped in front of it.
On the other side was a short corridor ending in another opening with different light beyond — not the blue of the fortress, something warmer.
"The center?" Serah said.
"Probably."
They looked at each other.
"Alright," Serah said. And crossed.
Lira followed.
---
Kai / Level 5
Kai entered level 5 with Qi active, new techniques registered, and exactly the energy level he had after four levels of creatures escalating in difficulty.
Which was enough.
He saw the circular chamber.
Saw the opening to level 6 on the other side.
’Just a chamber?’
He checked the walls. The ceiling. The floor.
No creatures. No visible traps. Nothing Qi could detect as active.
’Empty.’
Kai set his stance just in case.
Waited thirty seconds.
Nothing.
’Really empty.’
He relaxed.
Crossed to level 6.
---
Level 6 — empty circular chamber.
Opening to level 7 on the other side.
Kai looked at the chamber.
’Another empty one.’
’The labyrinth is giving me two rest levels before the next one.’
’Or it’s saving something up for the next one.’
’Or both.’
Crossed to level 7.
---
Level 7 had twenty doors and a fifth door standing open with fresh marks from two sets of footprints in the black dust on the floor in front of it.
Kai looked at them.
Serah’s footprints were recognizable — the new stride she’d learned since the treacherous floor room in the dungeon.
The others were heel prints.
Lira.
’They already made it.’
’Both before me.’
’Good.’
Kai crossed through the fifth door without stopping.
---

[All three participants have crossed into the final corridor]
