The second room had no visible walls.
Just a floor.
And at the far end, a door.
Between the door and them lay thirty meters of square gray stone tiles, perfectly uniform, perfectly arranged. Five columns. Twelve rows. Nothing else.
"ROOM TWO: The Path Without a Map!"
The announcer’s voice filled the space with the enthusiasm of someone who’d gone way too long without watching anyone suffer.
"The rules are simple! Some tiles support weight! Others don’t! No magical clues, no special abilities, no hidden tricks! Just the floor and your choices! Special condition: powers limited to standard human level, same as before! Good luck!"
Silence.
"You’re gonna need it!"
---
[GarcíaFTW: the treacherous floor. CLASSIC.]
[NocheEterna99: Serah’s got that "I’ll break this in one jump" face]
[StreamerHunter: with powers limited she can’t clear it in one leap. This is gonna be good.]
[xSorinx: Kai’s already looking at the floor. He’s been staring at it for ten seconds without moving.]
---
Kai had been staring at the floor for ten seconds without moving.
It wasn’t hesitation. It was analysis.
The tiles were all the same color. The same size. The same apparent texture. But not the same wear.
The ones with more use around the edges have marks from repeated contact. The ones that don’t...
He took a coin from his pocket — one of the interdimensional gold ones, the heaviest he had — and tossed it onto the tile directly in front of him.
The tile held.
The sound was solid. Dense.
He tossed another coin three tiles to the right.
Different sound. Hollower.
There it is.
---
[NocheEterna99: HE’S READING THE FLOOR BY SOUND]
[GarcíaFTW: he tossed coins to test the tiles. With COINS.]
[StreamerHunter: viewers: 620,000. People came for fights and stayed for a guy analyzing a floor.]
[xSorinx: that’s vibration analysis. Structural engineers do that.]
---
Kai took the first step.
Solid tile. No movement.
Second step. Solid.
On the third, he veered sideways — not following the straight line that seemed most obvious — and stepped onto a tile that was visually identical to the rest.
Solid.
The pattern isn’t random. It has logic.
He moved slowly. Unhurried. Testing with the edge of his foot before committing full weight. Every step calculated, every correction minimal.
Within two minutes, he was halfway across.
---
Serah had been watching him from the start with her arms crossed.
When Kai reached tile fifteen, she stepped onto the first one.
Solid tile. Good.
The second, following the same line as Kai.
Solid.
The third — impatient, with twice the necessary pressure.
The tile gave way downward with a dry crack, and Serah dropped half a meter before the edge of the next one caught her.
She pushed herself back up.
Looked at the broken tile.
Then at Kai, who hadn’t turned around.
"Too strong?" she said.
"Too strong," he confirmed, without taking his eyes off the path.
---
[GarcíaFTW: SERAH FELL ON THE SECOND TILE HAHAHAHA]
[NocheEterna99: "too strong?" "too strong" — Kai didn’t even turn to watch her fall]
[StreamerHunter: a 2300-year-old SSS defeated by the floor. The floor won.]
[xSorinx: the look of wounded pride on Serah’s face right now is historic]
---
"Come here," Kai said.
Serah looked at him.
"To the same spot where you are?"
"Yes. But slowly."
Serah crossed the remaining tiles to reach his position with a level of concentration she’d never needed for anything physical in 2,300 years. She arrived. Without breaking anything else.
Kai turned toward her.
"The problem isn’t your weight," he said. "It’s how you distribute the impact."
"I’m SSS. My impact is what it is."
"With normal powers, you’re the equivalent of a human with a strong build. The issue is you’re still moving your body like you’re SSS." He pointed at her feet. "You step like the floor is something you have to dominate. You need to step like it’s something that can break."
Serah looked down at her own feet.
"That’s what I’m doing."
"No. You’re stepping with the intent to dominate and controlling the force at the last moment. The contact already arrives with too much energy." Kai stood beside her. "Watch."
He lifted one foot. Placed it on the next tile with a movement that began soft from the hip — not from the knee, not from the ankle. From the hip.
"Control starts before contact. Not during."
Serah watched him three times.
Then tried it.
Her foot landed with half the usual pressure.
The tile held.
---
[NocheEterna99: KAI IS TEACHING HER HOW TO WALK]
[GarcíaFTW: a 2300-year-old SSS. He’s teaching her. How to walk.]
[StreamerHunter: "control starts before contact" — this is martial arts philosophy on a trap floor]
[xSorinx: Serah has the expression of someone processing that she’s been doing something wrong for millennia]
[System — Allied Beast]
[Technique Synchronization: 1.2%]
[New category registered: Impact Control — Beginner Level]
[The system notes that Serah learned a basic human skill in under 5 minutes.]
[The system also notes this should not be possible for a primordial entity.]
[The system updates its model of Serah.]
---
"Kai notes that the system is saying pure nonsense... Do you have to overanalyze everything?"
"Sorry?" Serah asked, confused by Kai’s dialogue.
"Don’t worry. I was talking to myself."
They advanced together.
Kai first, testing.
Serah following, replicating.
On the eighth row, Serah stepped on a tile without checking first — out of instinct, not recklessness — and it held.
Kai noticed.
Didn’t say anything.
On the tenth row, Serah stepped ahead half a pace and chose her own tile without following Kai’s route.
It held.
On the eleventh row, she chose another.
It held too.
Kai stopped.
Looked at her.
"How did you know?"
Serah glanced at the tile beneath her feet.
"The sound," she said.
"Same as you with the coins. But with the vibration of the impact from earlier steps."
Pause.
"I can sense the residual echo. The tiles that already gave way vibrate differently than the ones that haven’t."
With her wolf senses, even limited, she can detect micro-vibrations I can’t.
That’s better than my coins.
"Good," Kai said.
Serah looked at him with the expression of someone who’d just received something unexpected.
"Just good?"
"Good is enough."
The silver markings on Serah glowed.
---
[GarcíaFTW: SERAH MOVED AHEAD AND CHOSE HER OWN ROUTE]
[NocheEterna99: and it worked. She adapted Kai’s technique to her wolf senses.]
[StreamerHunter: "good is enough" — Kai has the most austere praise system in the world and Serah lights up anyway]
[xSorinx: viewers: 701,000. We broke 700k watching two people cross a floor.]
[Deral_Bleattler: I just showed this to my physics professor and he’s crying]
[Current viewers: 701,204]
[The system notes that the viewer count continues to rise during a trial that involves no combat.]
[The system considers this significant, not excessive overanalysis.]
[The system also considers that Deral_Bleattler has a very sensitive physics professor.]
[The system does not do this to annoy Kai.]
---
"Oh, so sensitive..."
They reached the door at the same time.
Serah looked at it for a moment.
Then at the floor they’d crossed.
"I learned to walk today," she said.
"You learned to distribute impact."
"It’s the same thing."
Kai considered this.
"Yeah," he said. "More or less."
The door opened on its own.
From the other side came a smell Kai recognized before seeing anything.
Food.
"Congratulations on completing Room Two! Reward: fifteen-minute break and basic supplies! The next event will begin automatically!"
Kai entered without waiting any longer.
Serah followed.
And somewhere between the door and the table with food, without either of them mentioning it, Serah adjusted her stride to match Kai’s — lighter, more controlled, completely different from how she’d walked before.
---
[NocheEterna99: SERAH CHANGED HOW SHE WALKS]
[GarcíaFTW: without realizing it. She did it without realizing it.]
[StreamerHunter: 15-minute break. Kai heads straight for the food. Priorities correct.]
[xSorinx: this is the most quietly important Chapter of the stream so far]
[System — Notification]
[Additional SSS Entity — Current distance: 19 km]
[Speed: unchanged.]
[The system is only reporting.]
[The system notes she’s almost here.]
