Interstellar to 80s: A Scientist's Farming Mission

An Ning made her move.

The child lying closest to her, under a cartwheel, was grabbed by the leg and roughly dragged out by An Ning.

"Catch!"

With a toss, as the crowd’s hearts collectively stopped, the child landed on a pile of firewood.

"AHHH—"

"Surround her!"

"Grab her legs!"

"Grab her waist!"

The group of old ladies, who had just been acting as if they didn’t have a bone in their bodies, now charged over like a herd of stampeding bulls.

Of course, An Ning wasn’t about to be caught so easily. She moved quickly, breaking through their encirclement before they could close in.

Inside the truck, as soon as An Ning rushed out, An Guoming deftly locked the doors and rolled up the windows. His eyes darted back and forth, struggling to keep up with An Ning’s movements outside.

"Yeah!"

"Great hit!"

"Beautiful!"

Inside the truck, An Guoming was even more excited than An Ning, who was actually in the fight.

An Ning stood in the open field, her gaze sweeping unerringly toward several men in hiding.

She beckoned to them with one hand.

They raised both hands in front of their chests and waved them back and forth.

An Ning put one hand behind her back and, with the other, pointed at the branches blocking the front of the truck.

"Hurry up!"

"I’ll do it!"

The six men scrambled over each other to move the branches.

In a flash, the branches were gone.

The six men split into two rows, stood on either side of the road, and came to attention.

They were as docile as could be.

An Ning’s feat of tossing people around was just too shocking.

The six of them were scared out of their wits; they didn’t even dare think about resisting.

Satisfied, An Ning got in the truck, rolled down the window, and waved amicably to the people on both sides of the road, as well as those stuck in the firewood pile.

"Until we meet again."

Outside the truck, the people shook their heads in unison.

’That was a fated meeting they never wanted to have again.’

In fact, starting today, they decided to turn over a new leaf and start fresh.

’This line of work is too dangerous!’

An Guoming stepped on the gas, and the truck sped away, leaving behind a cloud of dust and dirt that made the people on both sides cough violently.

The rest of the journey was fairly smooth.

They just encountered one group of robbers who tried to use force.

An Ning took care of them single-handedly, and the opposing boss knelt and kowtowed, respectfully seeing her off.

After two fights, An Ning was on a high.

"It really is good to get out of the house."

This remark made An Guoming, who was driving, purse his lips.

It was the first time he’d realized his own little sister had latent violent tendencies.

She got particularly excited when she fought.

An Guoming instinctively slammed on the brakes, but An Ning had already jumped out.

An Guoming looked outside. He didn’t see anyone.

’What’s my little sister up to?’

After getting out of the truck, An Ning walked to the edge of the road and looked down.

"What a unique look. Did you pay for that?"

An Ning squatted on the roadside, enjoying the show. Below was an acquaintance.

Jiang Xia.

He was covered in mud, with all sorts of dried weeds on his head. The moment he saw An Ning, he wished he could sink back into the ditch, maybe stick his head in the icy water, and never come out again.

’What kind of damn luck is this!’

’To be lucky enough to finally see a vehicle, only for it to be An Ning’s.’

"Need a hand?"

An Ning had already extended a hand. Although Jiang Xia was mortified, he didn’t try to act tough.

He reached out his hand, and An Ning grabbed it.

The next second, an immense force pulled from above, yanking him up.

"Where?"

An Ning looked around eagerly, trying to find any trace of them.

His embarrassing predicament exposed, Jiang Xia simply dropped the act.

He violently tore the weeds from his head and threw them forcefully on the ground.

"Who would dare rob me? Besides, I may not be able to beat you, but I can still handle a few robbers!"

"Why do I get the feeling you’re actually hoping to run into robbers?"

An Ning, who was still looking around, immediately denied it, "How could that be?"

"You’re not wrong."

An Guoming, who had also gotten out of the truck, spoke at the exact same time as An Ning.

An Ning looked at An Guoming and protested, "Second Brother, don’t slander me."

An Guoming just gave An Ning a look that said, ’You know it’s true.’

"Did you fall into the river? Get in the truck and change your clothes first."

At An Guoming’s words, Jiang Xia thanked him and stood up.

The relaxed and flippant way he spoke with An Ning was gone, replaced by a more serious and restrained demeanor.

An Ning didn’t move. She stood with her back to the truck, observing the spot where Jiang Xia had climbed up.

About fifteen minutes later, Jiang Xia had changed into a set of An Guoming’s clothes. After a few sips of liquor, he finally started to recover.

"Little sister, get in."

An Ning turned and got in the truck.

She sat in the passenger seat and turned to look at the huddled Jiang Xia.

"Your things?"

"How did you know I have things?"

Jiang Xia didn’t beat around the bush and told An Ning where he had hidden them.

"Take a rope. Be careful."

"Don’t need one. I’m not you."

SLAM! The truck door shut.

Inside the cab, Jiang Xia’s gaze followed An Ning’s retreating figure. He asked curiously, "Does An Ning always talk like that at home?"

"I guess so."

An Guoming’s answer was vague. ’He wasn’t about to tell Jiang Xia that his little sister was a bit different when she spoke to *him*.’

’These two are a little strange.’

"Where’s the rope? Let me use it."

Jiang Xia, wrapped in a thick cotton coat, took the rope An Guoming handed him and got out of the truck anyway.

No matter how capable a person is, they’re bound to make mistakes.

Being prepared can reduce the harm caused by those mistakes.

Jiang Xia tied the rope around his waist, hugged a tree by the roadside, and threw the other end to An Ning.
