Inside those two spatial rings, Priam found almost 100 million Black Diamonds, as well as various weapons and 40 severely damaged Pristine Cores.
With the death of those two, that powerful sect of theirs would certainly get in contact and, after discovering that the Dark Peak clan had not killed them, would find a way to investigate what had happened.
As for the tracking beast they had used to find Luvinah, after finding the hiding place, the two had possibly killed that beast without leaving any traces.
’Selling the cores is out of the question,’ Priam reflected. Then he decided he would leave everything in the clan.
Those cores had incredible natural power and were very useful for creating miraculous restorative pills. He would ask Leader Orlaith to use them only when they needed to save someone. That way, the lives of those dead would serve to save another, giving them some purpose.
That leader had always seemed trustworthy to him, so Priam had no fear of leaving this in her hands. She certainly would not sell them or go against what he asked.
It was already night, so Priam slept...
But the images of everything he had seen never dispersed, and even in his dreams, he saw those young ones hugging each other... it was as if the dead wanted revenge on him, tormenting him for not having helped them more.
Priam, who sometimes had those absurdly realistic dreams of his two previous lives, had now unlocked a new type of nighttime nightmare.
***
The days passed slowly, and Priam took his time studying the Celestial Wind Steps.
When 30 days since he left the clan were completed, that was when a change happened in the city.
The demons of that clan began to loosen the surveillance around the inscription. They left the planet’s own natives to handle the surveillance, and the people of the clan returned to their great territory.
From that point on, everything became easier.
Priam searched the city for humanoids with a physical build similar to his; just to be safe. He observed 3 options from afar until he realized that one of them was a young alchemist without much money, who visited every shop and asked about prices, carefully analyzing everything without buying anything.
In the late afternoon, when he left a shop, Priam left together with him and approached him carefully.
He negotiated for his entry emblem to the planet, offering 50 million Black Diamonds for it.
That young humanoid was stunned by so much money. After thinking for a bit, he accepted.
When that young alchemist wanted to leave, he only had to send a message to his master, who would pay for two new emblems and send someone to the planet to deliver them to him. That way, the two would return without any problems.
Obviously, the emblems had the names of the person who paid to enter, but the guards did not memorize that or care much. That young man’s master could pay extra to buy off the person responsible and, that way, get an entry emblem without any name on it at first.
The amount Priam offered in exchange was more than enough to make all the effort worth it. As for the risks, they were minimal. Everyone involved just had to stay silent.
If the people of the demon clan were personally watching everything like before, neither would Priam risk it, nor would the person he tried to approach dare attempt something like that. But now that they had left the natives in charge, money could solve everything.
’Money also has a lot of power... even in this world of Mages,’ Priam murmured internally.
From now on, he had to focus on becoming strong. But getting a lot of money should also be worked on, because that could open doors for him.
With the transaction completed, Priam calmly moved to the inscription.
He handed over the emblem and showed that young man’s alchemist guild disciple card as proof of his identity.
The demon in charge did not even bother to check much. He received the payment to use the inscription, and Priam went to the center.
In his hand was the Primordial Chaos fragment.
’Finally, I’m going back home.’
He sighed when the inscription was activated, and this time the fragment connected to it, as it should.
As he saw the space around him distort, Priam’s gaze turned to the skies. In his mind, everything he had gone through rose like a dark storm.
’I hope I don’t have to go through tragedies like this again.’
---
The space around him stabilized, and the Primordial Chaos fragment disintegrated, becoming only gray dust in Priam’s palm.
The sunlight hit him, rising on the horizon. It was the beginning of a beautiful day. He looked around: he was once again in the heart of the Ylisse clan.
The silence was absolute, but Priam knew his arrival had made the inscription pulse, so they would know he had returned.
He took the first step out of the transport circle.
In the next instant, the air was cut. A gust of wind announced Orlaith, who suddenly appeared in front of him.
Priam froze. His instinct immediately told him that something was wrong; that woman, whose face was almost always a cold lake of neutrality, now showed a tense expression, carrying a gravity he had never seen before.
"Priam... you finally returned," she said, her voice heavy.
He narrowed his eyes. "What happened?"
"Your father... he returned a few days ago," Orlaith took a deep breath, hesitating. "He came back because... your mother..."
Priam’s world swayed. The blood drained from his face, and his heart seemed to want to leap out of his chest.
He did not wait for the end of the sentence. The power of the winds exploded from his body, turning him into a blurred trail as he crossed the clan.
Two seconds. That was the time it took for him to stand before the annex where they lived.
Priam entered like lightning, crossing the corridors until he flung open the door of the room at the back.
He opened the door suddenly.
When he looked inside, his mother was there, lying still and motionless. Her face and skin now had a sickly paleness.
Sitting beside the bed, a man turned around.
Their eyes met.
At first, there was a void in Priam’s recognition. But within seconds, the fragmented and almost nonexistent memories of his childhood began to gather together, forming the face of that figure.
