Two days passed in a blur.

Lys spent most of his time at the new guild building, running errands for Pell, helping sort contracts, and learning the layout of the checkpoint system. Sara and Bezos dropped in now and then, but mostly it was just him.

She sat. "Are you going to start taking missions from then?"

"Who knows, maybe." He turned his cup slowly. "Pell says I need training first. No experience on record."

"But you have experience hunting, don’t you?" she said flatly.

"Not the kind that shows on a guild card."

She studied him for a second, eyes sharp. "I heard the training doesn’t take long. Plus, whatever you know is already in you. Even if it’s not written down anywhere. So, it shouldn’t take much longer for you."

He looked at her, wondering where she had heard it from.

She also looked right back, no softness, just stating a fact she’d heard from Mira about him. Then she opened her book and started reading, still at his table, not going anywhere.

Outside, Elara and Mitsu’s voices drifted through the open window. Mira’s workroom had gone quiet, which meant she’d either fixed the problem or was about to throw something at the wall, like she usually does if something’s not working the way she wants.

Lys stayed sitting for a while. Resting.

The house felt full in a way it never had for his earthly life. This was the happiness he always wanted. Coming from work to these hot women waiting for him.

He got up suddenly, shocking Selene, who was reading a book beside him. He started to walk toward his room.

Selene asked him where he was going. He just said, "Nature calls."
