’This...’

Xylen’s breath couldn’t help but suddenly hitch, his heart thudding against his chest as he read the information, his eyes gleaming under the dark hood of his robe.

’I... I can now see the abilities and loyalty scales of the characters scanned by me?’ His fingers twitched.

’Has my Royal Scan skill leveled up?’ The thought flashed in his mind, but he quickly dismissed it just as fast.

His stats hadn’t shown anything that suggested an upgrade, so how could he have?

Xylen fell into deep contemplation for a moment before ultimately dismissing his concerns. No matter how it happened, he still stood to gain.

With this in mind, Xylen felt a sense of relief. But just then, like a spark in dry tinder, another realization detonated in his mind.

’If I can use this skill on real players and get the same result like this...’ His pulse suddenly pounded, excitement and adrenaline surging through his veins. ’Would anyone still be able to betray me?’

Xylen’s breathing turned ragged, his eyes flashing as he recalled the betrayal from his past life.

But he quickly bit down the rising euphoria. Now wasn’t the time to get lost in daydreams of omnipotence.

He had less than thirteen hours to complete the quest, and every second mattered.

Thinking this, Xylen ground his teeth against each other and snapped himself back to reality.

Royal Scan!

The command thundered through his mind, and in the next instant, 3 mana points dissipated, which was directly followed by another flood appearing in his vision.

’Another poison user...’ Xylen mused, his brows furrowing slightly.

Then he continued scanning the rest of the demons one after the other, watching his MP drain with each use.

Unfortunately, however, the results crashed down like a wave of disappointment.

Aside from the first two Demons, the rest included two Level 2 Infernal Gladiators, while the remaining four barely reached Level 1, consisting of an Infernal Summoner, a Dreadknight, and two Abyssal Berserkers.

Only one thing, however, stayed the same among them—their distrust and suspicion toward him.

Even the most loyal Demon within them barely scraped a double-digit score on the loyalty scale, their eyes burning with thinly veiled aggression and hostility.

But Xylen didn’t flinch.

Why should they even trust and like him?

They didn’t know him beforehand, and neither were they his allies. And truthfully?

He didn’t need their trust. Not for now, at least.

"Even if they’re weak... they’re still usable," he muttered quietly after processing all the information, his words barely audible to himself.

.....

Meanwhile, the eight demons were seething right now.

’Who the hell is this guy?’

’Why has he been sizing us up like we’re meat?’

’He is definitely suspicious to have covered his entire appearance to this extent!’

’He must be from that bastard town leader’s faction...’

’How did he even manage to trick the Mistress into bringing him here?’

Their thoughts buzzed like a hive of enraged hornets, their gazes on Xylen, sharpening to daggers as he continued to weigh them.

Even Lilith, who was currently watching silently from the sidelines, couldn’t mask her confusion.

’What is my Lord doing?’

’Why has he been standing there like a statue without saying a word?’

’Does he not know how to relay his intention?’

Various thoughts echoed through her mind. But just as she was about to nudge him...

"Not bad." Xylen’s voice sliced through the room, casual, calm, and unyielding.

The demons flinched instantly, unprepared for the sudden voice. Then their eyes locked onto Xylen, filled with renewed suspicion.

But just then, Xylen raised his hands slowly and deliberately... then he slipped off his black robe, and in the next second...

The room dropped into stunned silence, and then a second later, eight jaws practically hit the floor.

No one could react until suddenly—

"S-So handsome..." one of them muttered, his voice trembling.

But just then—

[ Warning! Duskhollow’s loyalty scale for you has dropped to 4%. He now views you as a threat due to your appearance. ]

[ Warning! Rendmaw’s loyalty scale for you has dropped to 6%. He now views you as a threat due to your appearance. ]

[ Warning! Venomspite’s loyalty scale for you has dropped to 5%. He now views you as a threat due to your appearance. ]

[ Warning! Rotgulk’s loyalty... ]

Eight different notifications flooded into Xylen’s mind, one after the other, and then... his brain short-circuited.

He almost tripped on his feet, unable to believe the warnings that just flooded his mind, then—

’WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN THEY VIEW ME AS A THREAT BECAUSE OF MY APPEARANCE?!’ His mind screams.

’Is it my fault I’m this absurdly handsome?’ He felt helpless, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

He had heard of people being hated for their weakness, their ugliness, or even their circumstances—but for being too handsome? Never!

He watched dazedly as the Demon’s eyes glinted with renewed hostility, all of them glaring at him as if they were ready to tear him apart.

Xylen swallowed, sweat prickling his spine like ice-cold needles.

Without skipping a beat, he forced a strained smile and took a single step forward.

"Hello, everyone. My name is Xylenia... I am the descendant of your former Baron," he announced.

In the next moment, the room shifted significantly then...

The demons froze; their breathing halted.

And then—shock set in, their eyes suddenly widening, nearly bulging from their sockets.

’Was this why the Mistress had defended him?’

’He... he’s the young Baron who has been comatose all this time?’

Various thoughts raced through their minds, and then, as if seeking confirmation, they turned to Lilith.

She instantly gave a subtle nod, yet this single motion changed everything.

The demon’s heart skipped a beat, and then relief set in.

’So... he’s not a spy?’

’He hadn’t seduced and deceived the Mistress with his appearance?’

’I almost thought he was a major competitor I’d have to fight against for the mistress’s affection...’

Various thoughts flickered through their minds, and although Xylen couldn’t read them, their expressions made it clear—they no longer saw him as a threat.

Just as he concluded this...

[ Duskhollow’s loyalty scale for you has increased to 21%. He now has a reluctance obedience toward you. ]

[ Rendmaw’s loyalty scale for you has increased to 33%. He now has a neutral emotion toward you. ]

[ Embergnat’s loyalty scale for you has increased by 27%. He now has a reluctance emotion toward you. ]

[ Duskhollow’s loyalty scale for you has...]

Notification after notification echoed in his mind, and hearing them, Xylen exhaled sharply, rubbing his temples as bitter laughter threatened to escape his throat.
