Fallen Realm Online: Rise of The Fallen Monarch

Chapter 30 - 0030 – Reaching 5 Levels in a Go

Chapter 30

Sreeeeeltchh!

The Mossling unleashed a feral, ear-splitting shriek, thrashing violently as it launched relentless waves of frenzied strikes at Xylen like a creature completely driven to insanity.

But unfortunately for it, however, its struggle had become meaningless.

Why?

Xylen was no longer the fragile weakling it had nearly crushed to death a moment ago from its mere ambush.

Instead, it was as though he had now been reborn — or even more, possessed by an unstoppable force.

He easily danced through the Mossling’s savage onslaught with supernatural precision, retaliating with brutal counterattacks that continued tearing through the monster’s bark-like flesh as if searing flames through dry leaves.

Huge chunks of negative red numbers continued pilling up in the space above the Mossling’s head, a merciless testament to Xylen’s growing dominance.

The Mossling couldn’t dodge. It couldn’t defend itself. Instead, it continued trashing violently as it kept on trying to take down the opponent.

In truth, it should have long overpowered Xylen...

Its raw strength alone should have been enough to pulverize him into oblivion. After all, a Level 6 beast against a lower-level player was nothing short of a death sentence, and even if Xylen had fought tooth and nail, he should have barely scraped by — battered, bloodied, and barely breathing.

Yet now...

The Mossling had become a plaything.

All its attacks had lost their strength, becoming weak and ineffective. Also, its once-sturdy body had grown so fragile that every one of Xylen’s strikes landed without resistance.

Yet, even in this broken state, the beast’s instincts howled in protest.

What was happening?

It couldn’t understand and wasn’t able to fathom how the fragile, pathetic creature from before had suddenly morphed into a harbinger of destruction.

If only the Mossling could speak, it would have roared in rage and confusion, demanding answers.

It would have asked if Xylen was truly the same ant from earlier, which the Springfox... its live-and-death opponent had terrified half to death from mere aura alone.

It would have also asked if Xylen had been hiding his strength all along.

It might have doubted everything—wondering if Xylen had deliberately waited all this time to deceive both itself and the Springfox, only to attack when it was most vulnerable. But in the end, it was merely a beast with limited comprehension.

At its current level, it knew nothing but survival... relying only on hunches to react.

Yet even now, drained of all strength, the Mossling refused to surrender to death.

It was unwilling...

It refused to accept this result...

It should have killed the Springfox and become victorious....

It should have gotten what it wanted, and it should have lived the rest of its life as a conqueror, but now...

Skreeeeeeeech!

The Mossling unleashed a final, agonized screech and lunged at Xylen in a last, desperate attempt.

Its shattered limbs flailed wildly, sharp twigs glinting as its twisted body lashed out, determined to pull Xylen into the abyss alongside it.

But...

"Die!"

Xylen’s voice suddenly ripped through the battlefield like a war cry.

Without hesitation, he sidestepped the Mossling’s attack with terrifying ease, moving as though he had eyes in every direction, then he brought his weapon crashing down with all the force of a thunderclap.

BANG!

The Mossling’s body slammed into the ground, shaking the forest floor.

Leaves, twigs, and debris instantly exploded into the air as the beast convulsed... then went still.

For a second or so, dead and pin-drop silence enveloped the forest, but then...

"Finally."

Xylen, seeing this bombard notification exhaled sharply, wiping away the sweat pouring down his face.

Although he saw the last part of the notification, he wasn’t sad.

His chest began to heave heavily, his lungs burning like fire.

To an outsider, it might have looked like he had been toying with the monster just now... effortlessly dominating and cutting it down like a god of war.

But Xylen, who had fought this battle knew better.

He had walked the razor’s edge of death the entire fight.

One mistake... just a fraction of a second of hesitation would have meant his end—because if the Mossling had landed a blow on him... just a single blow, it would have followed up relentlessly, leaving him utterly defenseless until his HP was completely depleted.

As the thought sank in, Xylen’s body couldn’t help but tremble, his adrenaline fading as relief washed over him like a tidal wave.

But before he could fully catch his breath...

This announcement—the one thing that felt like the third-best news since entering the game echoed in his mind.

In the next second, Xylen’s eyes shined brightly in anticipation, his heart hammering in his chest as his ears perked, waiting for the next announcement—wanting to see how many levels this new kill would give him.

But even after a minute... nothing came.

"Shouldn’t I have leveled up more?" Xylen muttered to himself in a daze, his brows furrowing.

’I have clearly received an additional 1000 experience points—so why did my level stop increasing?’ he wondered.

Having played this game in his past life, he knew that the higher one’s level, the harder it became to progress, requiring significantly more experience points. But just one level?

Without hesitation, Xylen summoned his status screen, his eyes narrowing as he scanned it.

Done checking the level section, Xylen did a quick calculation in his head, and finally, understanding dawned on him.

"The XP curve... it’s the same as before," he muttered, and then sighing with a tinge of regret, he rubbed his temple.

In this game, the experience points required to level up increased exponentially.

Although Xylen knew this, he had greatly overestimated the levels a 2,000XP could cover.

Ultimately:

"Whatever... jumping from level 0 to level 6 in one go is still pretty good," he thought, and with this, he turned his gaze back to the status screen, scanning his updated stats.

’This...’

Staring at the screen, Xylen’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, his disbelief mounting.

"This... this insane HP!"

"The stamina...!"

"Everything! Even my secondary stats, how... how could they have skyrocketed like this?!"

His breathing hitched, his body trembling slightly with exhilaration and disbelief.

Although Xylen had expected his primary and secondary stats to have increased, he hadn’t anticipated them reaching this level—because it hadn’t been like this in his previous life.

At most, he should have barely cracked 90 or so HP while his secondary stats should have lagged far behind what he now saw on the screen.

For a moment, Xylen couldn’t react, but then something seemed to explode in his mind, and in the following second, his lips parted.

"Could... could this perhaps be another benefit of my hidden class?"

As soon as he muttered this, everything clicked into place, and ultimately;

"Hahahaha! This father has struck gold!"

Xylen erupted into maniacal laughter, the sound echoing through the forest like a war drum, his earlier frustration of being assigned the Demon Race completely forgotten in the wake of his newfound power.
