Abandoned Omega: Wanted by the Bigshots in the Military Academy

The rescue mission had been going on for days. Zoe Pierce, Nathan Lockwood, and the others shuttled back and forth between the rescue point and various locations on Planet C14.

After days of continuous slaughter against the Xenobeasts, the air was thick with the stench of blood.

Piloting her Mecha, Zoe Pierce stood under the setting sun and flicked the blood off her machine’s arm.

The silver-gray Mecha was now caked with the dried blood of Xenobeasts, giving it a terrifying appearance.

Of course, it wasn’t just Zoe Pierce’s Mecha that was stained with blood. The same was true for Chase Shaw’s and the others’.

A thorough cleaning would have to wait until the entire operation was over.

Seeing Zoe Pierce standing motionless, Chase Shaw asked over the channel, "What’s wrong?"

Zoe Pierce squinted at the clouds, which were painted in layers of color by the setting sun. "This rescue mission feels... a little too smooth," she said.

They spent every day focused on fighting Xenobeasts and saving people, with no time for anything else.

Only in a lull like this did she have a moment to think. ’It’s strange,’ she mused, ’I haven’t seen any sign of that Beta Organization.’

She sighed, then immediately thought she was being ridiculous.

’Since when does trouble not find me? It’s almost a shame.’

Ultimately, her uneasiness stemmed from the fact that they still hadn’t found the person in charge of the Terrorist Organization.

Nathan Lockwood and the others chuckled.

Zoe Pierce rubbed her sore neck. Several days of non-stop rescue work were naturally taking a toll on her body.

She flew forward a little farther and spotted a family cowering inside a Hovercar.

The Hovercar had crashed into a Xenobeast, which was now covered in blood and roaring at the vehicle’s occupants.

It wasn’t a particularly powerful Xenobeast, but it was more than enough to make ordinary people tremble in fear.

Wires sparked from the Hovercar’s front end, and the window glass was on the verge of shattering. In just a few more moments, the Xenobeast would tear right through the vehicle.

The driver was unconscious, and soft sobs could be heard from the back seat.

She swatted the Xenobeast aside and ran it through with her Longsword.

Miles Sherman and the others arrived a moment later and opened the car door.

It was a typical family of three.

An Alpha father, an Omega mother, and their Omega daughter.

The car they were in was clearly expensive; otherwise, it wouldn’t have injured the Xenobeast in the crash, nor would it have been able to withstand so many of its attacks.

Seeing their rescuers, the mother and daughter finally breathed a sigh of relief.

They thanked Zoe Pierce and her team through their tears.

It was impossible for all three to fit into a single Mecha, so Zoe Pierce took the mother and daughter, while Miles Sherman took the father.

The moment the Mecha’s bay door opened, Zoe Pierce saw the shocked expressions on the mother and daughter’s faces.

Even though they were safe, the lingering fear of their near-death experience was still etched on their faces.

Zoe Pierce did her best to ignore the glances the mother and daughter kept sending her way.

Their gazes were filled with curiosity, but they didn’t dare to ask.

Most of the conscious Omegas who had sat beside her these past few days had worn the same expression.

An Omega piloting a Mecha on a rescue mission was no longer a novelty.

But in the end, neither the mother nor the daughter was particularly brave, and they remained silent all the way to the rescue point.

By the time they emerged from the Mech Bay, the sky had grown completely dark.

Only the lights of the rescue point burned brightly.

A few days ago, a wave of Xenobeasts would attack every night.

There was no shortage of Alphas in the vicinity. They killed every Xenobeast that came, one by one, two by two, slaughtering them all regardless of their level.

After several days of this, the Xenobeasts learned to stay away from the area.

They had put in enough rescue time for the day and could take a short, six-hour break.

Zoe Pierce found a place to change into a training suit before going to find Nathan Lockwood and the others.

The moment she stepped out of the changing area, she sensed two little "tails" following her. She frowned.

’Could it be someone from the Terrorist Organization?’ she wondered. But a quick scan revealed they were, in fact, just two little tails.

Two children.

She turned and walked toward the children’s hiding spot.

She was immediately met with their helpless expressions.

The shorter of the two, a boy, stood in front of the girl, his beautiful eyes fixed on Zoe Pierce.

"Miss," he called out first.

Zoe Pierce took a closer look and realized it was the child she had rescued from the ruins.

He was all cleaned up and wearing a set of reasonably clean clothes.

Now she could see his delicate features.

’It’s rare for a Beta to be so exquisitely handsome,’ she thought.

’Especially a boy. It’s even rarer.’

The Omega girl, by contrast, seemed rather frail. She was at an age where she was shooting up in height, which, combined with her pale complexion, made her look thin and weak.

Zoe Pierce studied them for a moment before crouching down. "What is it?"

"It’s nothing. I just heard from the medical staff that you and the others were back, so I brought Talia to see you." Despite his young age, the boy spoke with perfect clarity.

Zoe Pierce’s heart ached with pity for them.

’Two children, forced to rely on each other from now on.’

She couldn’t help but think of her own childhood on Earth, and her voice softened. "In that case, would you like to have dinner with us?"

It was almost mealtime at the rescue point, so Zoe was certain they hadn’t eaten yet.

The Omega girl, the one he’d called Talia, now spoke up timidly. "Would we be disturbing you, Miss?"

Zoe Pierce gave her a gentle smile. "Not at all. Come on."

She stood up, took each of them by the hand, and led them away.

Nathan Lockwood and the others had already set up a simple tent at the edge of the rescue point. It was where they would be resting in a bit.

Just outside, a small bonfire was crackling.

The team was sitting around it now.

Most of the Alphas who returned to the rescue point chose to do this. If they were elsewhere on the planet, they would probably just sleep in their Mechas.

The four of them were chatting idly when Nathan Lockwood was the first to sense someone approaching.

He raised an eyebrow. When Zoe Pierce appeared before them, his gaze shifted to the two children she held by the hand.

They all had good memories. Though they didn’t recognize the children at first, it only took a few seconds for it to click.

Zoe Pierce let go of their hands and introduced them to Aaron Xavier and the others. "This is Seth Yates and Tori. They wanted to thank us. They saw me just now, so I invited them to have dinner with us."

Miles Sherman crouched down familiarly and looked at the two children. "Is there anything special you’d like to eat?"

Seth Yates shook his head. "We’ll just eat whatever you’re having."

On the way over, Zoe Pierce had chatted briefly with the children and learned that Seth Yates was the more decisive one of the pair.

Both children came from well-off families, which was evident from the fact that they owned Space Buttons despite not yet being adults.

A single Space Button, depending on its size, cost at least a hundred thousand Star Coins.

When the Xenobeast Tide broke out, their parents weren’t home, leaving the two of them to keep each other company.
