Will of a Prince

"A potential ally? I think we have plenty of those already. Do we really need someone else?"

Squabee pointed to the glasses.

"The person helped us by making this charm that allows us to see a person’s power and many other things about them! It even gives you a description of the power they have and its type!"

Slimo grabbed the glasses off Squabee’s face and studied them.

"That explains how you two figured out your powers so fast, but these glasses aren’t glowing. They can’t possibly be enchanted."

"They said that only bad enchanters keep the hue of the enchantment and that getting rid of it allows it to be much stealthier."

After a bit of hesitation, Slimo put on the glasses and stared at Lidia. Soon after, small words started appearing next to her figure. Slimo’s eyes widened as they glowed next to her.

Name: Lidia Rose

Zalo: Energy Transfer

Zalo Type: Curse

Zalo Description: This user can convert any physical energy done to her and amplify it using their own strength. The greater the energy stored, the deadlier the attack or the more efficient the defense.

Threat Level: Infant Monster

Weakness: Sharp weapons or attacks that don’t allow the energy transfer to occur.

Under all the lines, there was one last one that shined brighter than the others.

Release: After storing enough energy, this user can release all of it in one massive burst. Releasing this much energy at once doubles the power of all the energy that had been stored before its use.

Slimo’s face paled.

"This item... who did you say you got this from again?"

"There was a person down by the gate who lives in a beat-up shack. Sarah told them we will bring them customers, so if you like what you see, I would suggest you come with us before your guard duty tomorrow."

Slimo slowly read the lines appearing next to Squabee and passed out on the floor. Lidia rushed over to him and started fanning his face.

"Slimo? What’s wrong? Are you okay?"

Slimo stuttered under his breath.

"...providence... deity..."

Squabee put her hands on her hips.

"Hey, just because my Zalo is powerful doesn’t mean you have to freak out about it! I mean, look at how far we made it and there’s nothing wrong with you!"

Slimo rubbed his head and sat up slowly.

"It all makes sense. The luck, you not seeing monsters... is finding us a part of your power too?! I have so many questions."

Suddenly, a small idea grasped his heart.

"Wait, put the glasses on and look at me, Lidia."

Lidia grabbed the glasses from his hand hesitantly.

"Are you sure? What exactly am I supposed to see?"

"You will see my name and a description of my Zalo if I have one. For you, it also told me about your release power that you have. I wonder if there’s other things we will see if we grow stronger."

Lidia slowly put on the glasses and looked at Slimo.

Zalo Description: None

Threat Level: Impossible to determine. Do not underestimate.

Weakness: This person is a normal human. Just about anything will do them in. However, underestimating this person will be a terrible choice.

Warning: The creator of this charm advises you to bring this man to him at your earliest convenience.

Lidia stared at the last line carefully.

"What does the warning mean? Did you get that too?"

Slimo looked at her oddly.

"What do you mean? There wasn’t a warning section when I looked through it."

"Well, for me it’s telling me that the creator of the charm wants to see you. What could that possibly mean?"

Sarah and Squabee shrugged their shoulders.

"They seemed like a nice person. I don’t think it would be anything bad."

Slimo slowly grabbed the glasses back from Lidia and put them back on. He stared at Sarah carefully.

"Invulnerability. That’s a really powerful defensive Zalo for someone who wants to avoid fights. Is that how those rocks ended up in your hand?"

Sarah scratched her arm.

"Well, yes. Do you know where Doc is? I was hoping he could fix me."

"He should be in the house next door. We only came into your house so we could have some privacy. Do you mind if I hold on to these glasses a bit longer?"

"You can have them. We got our use out of them already."

Slimo grinned happily and put a hand on Squabee’s shoulder.

"Thank you. And remember Squabee, what you saw today doesn’t leave this room. Seriously."

Squabee nodded.

"I understand."

"Good. Me and Lidia will follow you over. I think I’m going to make it a little project of mine to look at everyone’s powers so I can plan for things easier in the future. I can’t wait to meet the man who made such a masterpiece."

All four of them left the house and walked next door to the other. Doc was sitting quietly at a table enjoying some stew. Sarah walked over and held out her hand full of rocks. Doc looked at it and smiled.

"Figured out your power?"

"Yup. I can turn parts of my body invulnerable, but I accidently solidified my hand around some rocks when I ran out of energy. Can you fix me?"

"No problem at all."

In mere moments, all the rocks fell out of Sarah’s hand, turning it back to normal. Doc looked over at Slimo curiously.

"Interesting. You left my side for hardly any time and already ruined your eyesight! You all need to be more careful!"

"That’s not it, Doc. These glasses are a charm that allow me to gauge the power of other people. It will help us in the future while I make plans to prepare against fights."

"Interesting. I couldn’t think of a more fitting person to wear those than you."

Slimo smiled and read the small lines of text that appeared next to Doc.

Zalo Description: This user can manipulate the body parts of other creatures to an extraordinary extent. This power allows for the regeneration or reshaping of body parts, even among dead creatures.

Threat Level: Elder Monster

Weakness: Given the nature of blessing powers, the best way to fight this user is to stay out of their sight or wait for them to lose all their energy.

Release: When the user releases their power, they are assigning tasks for chosen body parts to complete before stablizing. This can mean a heart will stop beating until the opponent is dead, an arm will keep breaking until the bone’s underneath crumble to dust, or the body will keep growing until it pierces the flesh of other creatures.

Transformation: This user is no longer tied down by human limits. They can create a corrupted amalgamation of any flesh and bone it chooses. This transformation cannot be done to themselves. This transformation is irreversible.
