Kai stayed up all night.

He couldn’t sleep if he tried. Not with Anna curled up against his chest, fast asleep, peaceful as an undisturbed flower.

It felt like he’d been plunged back into those times. The heavy, rough hand forcing him down. The mocking laughter echoing around him. The pain, blood. The sound of his own screams tapering out because he had no more energy left. The suffocating feeling of being owned, being touched, being fucked.

Anna sat up, frowning lightly. He followed suit, watching her with keen eyes.
