Anna chose not to think about the task for now, afterall she had thirty days to complete it. So she got ready and went out to meet Kai and Ray.

"What’s going to happen to this house?" She asked.

"I’ll send word back to Drax," Ray replied. Anna glanced at him, remembering that he still owed her a conversation. She decided not to bring it up now, maybe later when his guard was let down.

She put on a bright smile. "Alright. Let’s go."

"You’re wearing this?" Kai asked, stopping Anna in her tracks. "Cutie, no."

Anna rolled her eyes. "You’re only saying that because Ray gave it to me."

"Believe me that’s not it. Here, I have something better." He snapped his fingers and a man rushed into the cottage with a box.

Anna, startled, stumbled back. "Umm...what’s going on?"

The man bowed in front of her and held out the box. Anna’s gaze travelled between the box and Kai’s energized smile. She even glanced at Ray, hoping that somehow he had an idea of what the heck was happening.

"It’s just clothes, cutie. Try them on, we’ll be late soon."

Anna didn’t know what the heck was happening. But she mumbled her thanks, took the box and went inside the room to get changed.

The moment she opened the box, she saw that it was no ordinary dress. The material was thin, breathable, made from what looked silk but couldn’t possibly be silk. It was a pale blue, fading into rich green at the hems. The fabric shone as if embedded with countless tiny diamonds. Anna stared at the gown, touching it and feeling the creaminess of the fabric.

"Woah. This would have cost ten grand back home!"

To complete the outfit was a pair of simple shoes, but even though they looked simple, Anna wasn’t deceived.

They were expensive too.

What on earth has Kai gotten himself into? She wondered, holding the dress up and admiring its train. It’ll look good if I still had my long silver hair though.

With a soft sigh, she got changed and checked out the dress in the mirror.

It was nothing short of perfection.

It hugged her body just right, showing off the curves she often forgot she had due to always wearing puffy princess dresses. Anna did a twirl, admiring herself with a wide smile.

"Damn do I look good," she giggled, biting the tip of her index finger and throwing a wink at herself. "Okay. Get going now."

She bundled up the previous clothes and carefully folded them into the box. This was Rays gift, and she was going to keep it.

When she emerged from the room, Ray and Kai who had been bickering, paused and turned to her.

"What...what do you think?" Anna asked, suddenly feeling shy.

Ray’s face turned red. "You look...you look beautiful,"

"Thank you," Anna beamed.

"As always, I have excellent taste." Kai said, flicking hair over his shoulder. The movement was so sassy that Anna burst out laughing.

"This is beautiful, Kai. Thank you. Although for a job interview, don’t you think it’s a little much?"

"Yes. Are we going to see the King?" Ray asked, throwing an accusing look at Kai.

Kai walked over to Anna and took her arm, Looping it with his. "That doesn’t matter. All that matters is how lovely you look right now, cutie." He took out something from his pocket. A necklace, then clasped it around Anna’s neck.

The chain was a thin, luxurious silver. And the pendant was a shell with a beautiful pink pearl inside.

Anna’s eyes watered. She hadn’t received such a stunning gift ever, and pearl was her birthstone.

She touched the pendant, feeling how cool and smooth the pearl was. Her eyes watered as she looked up at Kai. "How did you know I liked pearls?"

Kai’s smile softened. "Just a hunch."

[Ding! Kai’s affinity just went up by two points! Congratulations hostie, he’s now curious about you!]

Leila’s ding made Anna blink. Two points? But she didn’t even do anything remotely romantic. Could it be that there were others ways aside from romance to raise affinity?

Anna glanced at Ray, feeling bad that he might be left out. But there was no trace of jealousy on his face. He looked satisfied somehow, and happy. Anna wished she could tell what was going on in his head.

Their ride to the new "employee" was a sports car.

Anna’s brain was scrambled just trying to understand how on earth that was possible. She was used to the practical military cars of the palace that she didn’t even think maybe other cars existed.

She felt like a billionaire heiress on her way to spend a hundred and fifty thousand dollars shopping for luxury clothes. She’d be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy the fantasy.

And there was drinks too!

Drinks that tasted way better than they did in the East.

"System, how the heck is there no solid food here but alcohol exists?"

[Science and innovation.] Leila replied with a cheeky smile. Yes, these days she was no longer a disembodied voice in Anna’s head. She remained in her chibi form all the time, vanishing when she wasn’t needed and popping back up when Anna said anything. Thankfully, only Anna could see and touch her. She didn’t want imagine explaining how she got hold of a floating...thing.

"Here we are!" Kai exclaimed, bubbling with excitement as the car pulled up in front a massive, two hundred feet, terrifying iron gates that looked like they guarded the pathway to hell.

"Um..." Anna poked her head out of the window, staring at those gates. There was some inscription on them, something Anna couldn’t read. "Kai, you’re not taking us to have our organs sold for cash, are you?"

Kai laughed. "Of course not, cutie. You mean too much to me for that. Ray however, I can’t promise same."

"Asshole." Ray muttered, loud enough for them both to hear.

Anna chuckled.

The car stopped and they all stepped out. Well Kai jumped out first, held the door open for her, and when Ray was about to come out, Kai slammed the door in his face.

"Hey!" Anna faced him. "You need to be nicer to Ray, okay?"

"I’ll try and find the time." Kai replied with a charming wink.

Anna rolled her eyes, she seemed to be doing that a lot lately, and grabbed the doors holding it open for Ray.

"Thank you," he muttered, his cheeks dusted a faint pink. He rose to his full height, looking down at Anna with a gentle expression. In the soft morning sun, Ray looked ethereal. His dark hair fell over his darker eyes, giving him a mysterious allure. And his skin shone with life and vitality. Anna hadn’t noticed how soft and pink his lips were...her heart skipped a beat as she stared at him, admiring his soft features and his beauty.

She touched his arm, mirroring his smile. "It’s nothing," she said.

Again, I didn’t do anything!

It was starting to dawn on Anna that these men weren’t the kind of men she was used to. Normally if she wanted to make a guy like her, the methods always veered sexual. Even in her past life whenever she spent time with her boyfriend, it always ended in the bedroom. So Anna assumed that was a measure of how in love they were. Surely if he wanted to touch her all th time then he loved her right?

And now she’s having to face affinities going up where she didn’t do anything sexual at all.

This is giving me a headache....

[Hostie, you really need a lesson in love and romance.] Leila sighed, face palming like a disappointed parent.

"Hold my hand?" Anna asked Ray, extending her hand for him.

Ray blinked, shocked, as if she’d hit him or something. Then he slowly took her hand, threading his long fingers with hers and squeezing softly.

Anna’s heart did a flip. A back flip. And she had to bite down her tongue to prevent her from squealing out loud.

But when she turned, she came face to face with Kai.

Again, her heart skipped. And skipped. And forgot how to beat properly. She would have died, but it wasn’t her time yet.

Imagine it. Dying from how handsome my husbands are! What an ending!

Kai was dressed like a young prince. Anna still wasn’t used to seeing him in normal clothing but today was different.

His shirt was a blue and green, matching the shade and pattern of her dress. Loose flowy shirts always fitted him best, the way they draped around his body and accentuated his lean and slender build. His hair was tied back, some strands framing his delicate face. And his eyes, Anna could stare into those ocean blues forever.

He was glowing. Like a fallen angel.

"Trying to make me jealous?" Kai asked, a smirk tugging on his lips.

Thinking he was joking, Anna was about to play along when Leila popped up in front of her.
