The Blind SSS-Class Final Boss Is Obsessed With Me

Chapter 23: Sweat... Because it’s Hot!

Sitting cross-legged on the floor inside a small room, which was originally Cian’s room in the academy, I placed all three things—the regeneration magic book, the potion, and the rusty dagger—in front of me.

As I glanced over the things and kept thinking about what uses they had, Seraphina, who was standing beside me, moved and also sat on the floor in front of me.

"So... What are... You gonna... Do...?" She asked and also began to ’look’ at those three artifacts while touching her chin as if she was also thinking about what I was thinking.

For a moment, I stared at her as she kept her face toward the potion and the book.

"Something that even I don’t understand completely," I answered as I grabbed the dagger and began wiping its rust off with a clean cloth.

"You... Don’t... Understand...?" Seraphina asked and tilted her head in confusion as she turned her face toward me.

"Yeah, I just hope it works."

I said I didn’t understand what I was going to do, and that was reality. Because this was really, really dangerous. If I remember it clearly, at the beginning of the novel, the protagonist, Kaelen, somehow found a guide to gain something that later helped him get freakishly strong.

But it was also mentioned that it was a one-in-a-thousand chance that it succeeds. And if, by any chance, it fails, then it will cost the life of whoever was trying to do that.

"Okay then, let’s start."

With that, I grabbed the potion and drank it down my throat without leaving a single drop.

The first few seconds, nothing happened. I felt just like before. There was no sudden surge of power or any kind of pain.

’Why is nothing happening?’

I thought and looked at the empty vial with slightly narrowed eyes.

’From that Head Alchemist’s words, I thought I would hurt like—’

"ARRRGGGHHH!!!"

Suddenly, intense pain shot through my whole body, and I fell onto my back while clutching my chest.

"ARRRGGGHHH!"

"Cian!"

Seraphina immediately moved closer to me and grabbed my face with both of her hands.

"What happened?!"

She was clearly concerned about me shouting and writhing in pain.

"Why... are you... suddenly screaming?"

Subconsciously, I moved my hand and grabbed her wrist hard. I don’t know what was happening, but it was really painful.

Seraphina moved my face and placed it on her lap as she clutched my head closer to her.

She was going to use her magic to stop whatever was hurting me, but I stopped her, saying, "Don’t..."

"But..." She wasn’t going to do what I had told her. She raised her hand, and soon it was shining with dark aura.

However, before she could do anything, the pain inside me stopped, and I was feeling even better than I had ever felt after coming to this world.

"Huff... Huff..."

Though I was still breathing heavily.

"Sera..." I let out weakly as soon as my gaze fell on her tear-filled cheeks and drenched cloth covering her eyes.

"C... Cian?"

That... That was the only word she said. And that was the only thing she could say before she embraced me into a hug.

"What... What... Happened... To... You..."

She said as she sobbed a bit. Moreover, her grip on me was a little too tight, and it had started to hurt.

"I-I thought... I would... Lose you... again..."

Again? Seems like she was forcefully separated from the real Cian, and that moment must have left a scar on her soul.

"It is nothing, Sera," I said as I moved and pulled myself away from her embrace. "Look, I am fine now."

She went silent after that and didn’t speak up. But there was still a little bit of trembling in her body that hadn’t left yet.

"Were you crying?" I asked as I looked at my shirt, where the fabric was slightly drenched from her tears falling. "For me?"

Seraphina immediately turned her face away and wiped her cheeks with the back of her sleeve. Then, after cleaning the remains of tears, she turned toward me again and began speaking.

"Crying...? Who...?" She raised her arm and began to blow air on her face with her hand. "That was... sweat... This... Room is... Hot..."

Well, if she doesn’t want to talk about it, then I will leave it as it is. But her remark about the room being hot wasn’t entirely wrong either.

This room was actually really hot. But not to the point where even her blindfold should be drenched in sweat.

For some unknown reason and without me realizing it, a small smile spread across my face.

’At least, I have someone who cares for me in this life.’

"Okay, if you weren’t crying, then I suppose I don’t have to pat your head."

"Huh...?" She let out in a surprised tone. "No... Wait..."

"Yeah?" I leaned in closer to her.

"I... I... Was... For you..." She murmured in a low voice, and even though I heard her clearly, I still wanted to tease her a bit because she looked really cute right now.

"What? I couldn’t hear you clearly."

"Crying... Weeping... Tearing down... Yes... I was..."

Hearing her talk like that, I raised my hand, and noticing it, she leaned her head closer. But I didn’t pat her head. Instead, I grabbed the book from the ground.

"You should have agreed the first time I asked."

"What..?"

She was so embarrassed that she quickly grabbed my arm and patted herself with my hand.

"What are you doing?" I raised an eyebrow at her actions.

"Can’t you... See? You are... pat... my head."

Soon after saying that, she let go of my hand. But instead of pulling my hand back, I gently touched her cheek and asked.

"Happy now?"

She didn’t answer me and only responded by nodding her head.

"Okay, now that you are happy. Should we focus on the thing at hand?"

I opened the book and began reading it from the first page all the way to the last page.

"Hmmm... So that is how it works."

"Hmmm... Yeah," Seraphina repeated after me.

"Did you understand anything?" I asked, and she just shook her head. "I can’t... read..."

She can’t read? I guess her senses don’t allow her to read something. Also, I don’t think she needs to read. Her existence itself is a force of nature. And unlike humans, her powers aren’t something she learned or trained to get; she herself is the force of magic.

But that is only limited to her, not me. So I need to read it and use that dagger to gain what Kaelen had gotten for himself...

A System!
