The violet mist moved like a restless sea. Thick. Lamia dissolved into it again and again, reappearing a few meters away, barely avoiding each attack.

But she didn’t counterattack. She couldn’t.

A heel sliced through the air where her neck had been.

Abby gritted her teeth. She kept firing fireballs from her fingers.

"Just do it already!"

But Lamia didn’t move. Her eyes were locked on her.

On what remained of her daughter.

Another attack. Another cut that passed inches from her face.

And she dissolved into smoke again. Escaping—but not responding.

Retreating.

Always retreating.

A layer of ice spread across the area. Sudden and unexpected.

She heard something nearby.

She took another step. Then another.
