Regression of the Manaless Sword God

Chapter 20: Battle of monsters

"Even that won’t be useful in the Abyss. A single rift was enough to ruin an entire continent. Even the weakest of the weakest monsters there are far stronger than me."

He rested his head on the seat and sighed deeply.

’It’s really a bad decision, no matter how I look at it. Even if I regressed, it won’t change the fact that I am weak.’

Knowing the future doesn’t make him invincible.

What’s the point of knowing a demon king will invade the planet if you don’t have proper strength to stop that from happening?

He then slowly closed his eyes and opened them again. A radiant blue screen appeared before him.

NAME:- ETHAN (LEVEL 10)

CHOSEN PATH:- ’PATH OF SWORD’.

AFFINITY:- NONE

MANA:- NONE

EXTRA SKILL:- BATTLE SENSE (Lv. 8)

PERSONAL SKILL:- SEVERANCE (Lv. 1),

CLEAVE (Lv. 1)

ULTIMATE SKILL:- NONE

PHYSICAL STATS...

STRENGTH: 6

AGILITY: 6

ENDURANCE: 7

VITALITY: 6

WILLPOWER: --

’Severance and cleave are the only skills I have. My stats are horribly low. I don’t even know how many stats I had before I regressed.’

His battle sense was good at perceiving monsters, but to fight, he did not have much.

Severance is strong, which is his only good skill here. Cleave was something he developed on his own after swinging his sword tirelessly for decades.

’I don’t see sword intent here; is that not a skill? I still feel I can use it though. It didn’t show what it was before either; maybe it’s something different than skills then?’

His trump card here was definitely his sword intent.

"Why is there nothing on willpower?"

He asked, but there was no one who could answer that for him.

Sighing again, he looked outside from the window.

The deep, vast ocean was in his field of view. He stayed silent for a while.

He had gotten long used to being alone. No talk, no interactions with anyone, just his thoughts alone.

’At least I can improve my skills now. That’s what I need to do before going any further into the Abyss.’

He can try to go to the depths of the Abyss using his advantage of not having mana, but if he did that, he would die for sure.

It is far too reckless for him to even think of doing that right now.

There was a reason why he had asked for Eleanor to wait for him. It could take months or even years.

’I need to level my skills up as much as I can. My physical constitution won’t change until I get my sword back. I need to train before I even think about going inside.’

His priority after landing will be to level up as quickly as possible.

He could have simply stayed in the Black Horizon guild and increased his skill levels, but an artificial training program will never be the same as real survival.

He had done this for decades, so he could do it now. The only difference... he doesn’t have his source of strength.

He lay back and closed his eyes. Soon, he would need to survive the hell; he needed as much rest as possible.

Screech~~~

He had only just closed his eyes when he heard a deafening screech from outside.

Alerted by the noise, he immediately looked outside the window but couldn’t find anything in sight.

’Where is it?’

His face tensed up, his heart beating rapidly. This wasn’t a scream of a normal monster; it came from so far away that he couldn’t even sense it.

Even then, it was loud and clear. For the roar to be so loud, it only meant one thing: a battle between monsters was taking place nearby.

He tried to look for it again and again but couldn’t see anything. Then the voice of the pilot from the cockpit came through the speaker.

"There is a dragon before us."

It was justifiable to call that a scream. The fear was clear from his voice.

Ethan immediately ran towards the cockpit, pulling the door open. He found the horrified sight of both the pilots, who were going insane with fear.

However, he did not have time to look after them right now. There was a much pressing issue before him.

His jaws clenched tight; his fear was right- it was the scream of the wyvern.

A gigantic monster that was even bigger than the aircraft they were in right now.

Probably one of the, if not the strongest, monsters to come out from the Abyss of Origin.

It spread its wings wide, threw its head back, all set to launch its most destructive attack.

Eternal Inferno.

Breath of fire so big that the ocean began to boil. Even from such a distance, Ethan could feel the heat that was coursing through the air.

The entire area around it burned bright with its ultimate skill.

That was a wyvern.

’No, no, no... it won’t come out here without any reason.’

But even the wyvern wasn’t the most concerning thing here. The important question was, why was it out here in the ocean?

There could be only one answer for that.

Ethan did not wait around and went to control the aircraft.

If what he thinks is true, then there is no way they will survive if they don’t move from here.

At the same time he took control of the plane, a dark shadow appeared beneath the ocean.

It was small at first, but grew so big in an instant.

The shadow was so huge and long that its end couldn’t be seen at all.

A sharp chill ran down his spine when he saw the monster he feared the most coming up.
