Regression of the Manaless Sword God

Meg looked at him for a second, baffled by his decision. However, she didn’t question him. She had seen her fair share of morons in her life, and two of them were standing alongside her.

"Fine by me."

She shrugged her shoulders, not caring what happened to him.

It was his choice in the end.

"There." She pointed at the screen. "These are all the information we have about the Abyss of Origin."

The screen showed a list of monsters that have been spotted in the Abyss of Origin, as well as the location where they are found the most.

"Do keep in mind. This information is old and incomplete, so there might be many more monsters there."

"How old is this?"

"A week old. 5 of our S-rankers went there to assess the situation and see if there were any changes, but only 3 returned. They mentioned that they saw dragons there, which weren’t there before."

"The rift there is still open, so monsters keep on pouring out without stopping. That’s the reason why there are so many different ones. However, it is strange that this rift is the only one from where various monsters come out. It isn’t the case for other forbidden zones." Joah added after Meg.

Ethan gave a slight nod and kept on reading about the monsters and their location.

The information about dragons did not surprise him, as it was something he already knew.

It became sensational news cause that was the first time this world had witnessed a dragon.

’Dragons? They mustn’t have killed one yet. If they had, they would know it’s a wyvern. If an actual dragon were to get here... no one would be alive by now.’

As the one who was alive for the longest time on Earth, he knew about everything that would happen, though he only had the brief knowledge, not complete knowledge.

After Aurora went to the Abyss and killed the dragon, only then did they all realise that it wasn’t a dragon but a baby wyvern.

Dragons are creatures that are simply out of the league for the current Earth.

He, with his peak strength from his past, failed to kill a Demon King, so it goes without saying how powerful dragons will be, who are known as one of the, if not the strongest, mythical creatures inside the tower.

Their tales of their strength were well known inside the tower.

Ethan remembered as much of the information as he could. He only needed to know what kind of monsters were there; anything else, he had to rely on himself.

In the end, it all comes to his own abilities; he won’t live even if he knows everything about that place if he doesn’t have anything to protect himself.

"I am done. Let’s go." Ethan said and closed the tab of information.

"This fast? Well, follow me." Joah was surprised, but he also didn’t press anything further.

He only needed to do his job.

Following Joah, both soon reached the departure port where many modern aeroplanes were placed, all equipped with automated guns.

They were battleship which is used outside the rift to kill monsters faster.

For some unknown reason, they cannot be operated inside the rift or even in the tower, but they are useful when killing monsters that are outside the rift.

Though, they are still not enough to kill every monster. Some of the monsters are far stronger, so much so that even putting a dent or scratch on them is an almost impossible task.

They still are handy, though.

"You may find some other hunters there. Either from our guild or from others, so try to stay together. You might survive. Well, get on it; the ship will return after dropping you there."

Ethan nodded his head and boarded the plane.

"One suggestion from me. If you do encounter a monster you cannot kill, don’t be stupid enough to jump into the ocean thinking it’s safe there. Etch this into your mind: do not go into the ocean. You might survive on land by sheer luck, but you will die for sure there."

The gate closed for the plane. Ethan lay back comfortably as the engine roared.

"I wouldn’t go there even if you didn’t say anything."

The continuous flow of monsters from the rift was an issue for sure. But that wasn’t an issue for humans alone; it was for monsters too.

Each monster will terrorise a part, so it’s bound to run out sometime.

What does that leave for those who couldn’t take it?

Ocean.

However, there was a twist.

’I heard Ellie froze the ocean with her ultimate skill, and even after that, lost almost 10 S-rankers just to defeat that. That’s not something I can face on my own just yet.’

His priority right now was clear. To retrieve his sword.

The ship took off, flying at the fastest speed that it could at around 20,000 km per hour.

It would take a few hours for him to get there even with that high speed.

’Along with all the drawbacks that I have for being unawakened, there is one single thing that was in favour of me.’

The single advantage of being an unawakened.

Beside him, no one else knew of this.

Humans were used to looking at things with their eyes.

Since they awaken mana at all latter age when they are grown physically, they still use their sense organs to feel and see the things around.

Though that wasn’t true for monsters who already had a strong physical foundation.

They were used to mana from either their birth or very early on. So they rely on mana a lot.

Rarely, they won’t use mana to sense their surroundings.

With that being the case, Ethan being unawakened helps a lot.

No monster that uses mana to sense and see can find him.

Even if he were to stand right before them. It’s not foolproof, as he isn’t invisible, but it was something that helped him survive in his past.
