"What?" Collin boomed. His voice could have shattered the roof if it had the ability.

Luke and Andre did not raise their voices, but they were equally stunned. They had all qualified to enter the academy and their father had pulled out his sword threatening to cut off their legs.

His exact words had been, "Let me see how you will hunt with no legs."

That had been the end on all talk of Mayfair children ever entering the academy. Things had changed, it seemed, and the cause was understandable.

Phoebe was just the same as her brothers. Her father's words sent shock wave through her, she could not believe what she had just heard. She had assumed that no matter what was said, her father would not change his stance on his children entering the academy. Her especially, in her condition [pregnant!!].

Was her father speaking from a point of excitement? A frown them creased her brow, she did not know how to respond because maybe he was testing her. Even if she said yes now, what if he changed his mind later and forced her to drop out because something else had gone wrong in the family? Her eyes moved around in search of everyone else's reaction, especially Maureen's.

The rest of the family stared in equal disbelief, for a moment no one spoke_ only wide eyes stares exchanged.

"So, Edward, let me get this straight." Maureen scrambled to her feet. "You want Phoebe to get tested to discover if she has the gift of magic...why? Do you plan to allow her to be a licensed, registered supernatural hunter and future guardian?" The questions spilled out, clumsy and rushed.

"Mmm." Edward nodded.

Her hand flew to her open mouth when her brother nodded.

Everyone exchanged glances, even more stunned than the last time.

"It is a bad idea." Rekha's voice slashed through the silence.

Phoebe twisted her face. "What do you mean? You know how long I have wanted to get a chance to go to that school!" She pointed at finger at Rekha. "Do not ruin this for me Rekha." A smile replaced her frown before shifting her eyes to her father.

"You know why Phoebe, or you should know why. Have you forgotten that you were levitating above those mountains of....." Rekha folded her lips, she had already said more than enough yet the knowledge about the crystals at the tower and Phoebe's possible identity of a grand guardian was supposed to remain confidential.

In that hesitation, everyone guessed that there was another secret which had not been shared. Luna even rolled her eyes to the roof. If any family liked to superglue their lips shut about important things, it was the Mayfair's.

Maureen inclined towards her brother, recalling what had happened at the tower. "Shit, Rekha is right, she cannot do that. Phoebe has a connection to those damn pure magic crystals and there are some In the academy. It will not be a good thing if other people realize it, especially the traitors." Her voice dripped with unspoken fear.

"Pure magic." Luna whispered.

"I will explain later." Luke whispered to her.

Meanwhile, a wince came from Edward's lips as he understood too well what crystals Maureen was speaking of. They were like the holy grail for every magic user, evil witches and warlocks would do anything to get their hands on them. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

He did not ask further questions, choosing to believe them. "If that is the case then she can just stroll around the school whenever she pleases. It would not harm her to look around, take a few classes and meet other hunters because she will cross paths with them eventually as long as she is in the business of hunting.

Uncle Rufus said that capable commoners are going to start getting enrolled in the school and non-magic folk with extraordinary speed, strength and will power. So, no one will ask questions about a Mayfair when a few commoners are in the mix." He relayed to them.

"Great!" A gleeful roar erupted from Andre's chest. "That means that I can finally join the academy as well, I was so jealous when I found out that aunt was a guardian." He rubbed his hands.

Rekha released a chuckle. "Perhaps you shouldn't, or have you have forgotten about how scared you were of that deity in the Silver nation?" Her voice dripped with mockery.

"Deity, what deity? As in a god!!!" Jennie asked, a strangled inhale caught in her throat.

"I cannot believe this, Edward prevented everyone from enrolling there back when it seemed safe. And now that we know it is dangerous, the Mayfair's are rejoining it. I do not know whether to be happy that you have finally came around brother or to worry that my idiotic nephew Andre is going to follow his sister there." Maureen blew exhausted air out of her mouth before sinking back into the chair.

Collin rose up. "It's not just Andre that will be joining; I will be doing the same." He announced.

Andre was the adventurous one, nobody was shocked when he volunteered. Collin on the other hand...his decision had every brow in the room raising curiously.

"I do not want to sound like I am objecting but son, someone has to watch over our businesses, we cannot leave them unattended. There is a reason as to why some children in the family go into the academy and others go into business. If everyone is fighting demons, who will make the money that pays hunters and funds the academy?" Edward appealed to his logic, laying down the facts.

The founding families and founding council contributed millions to the academy every year. Every family had a fixed amount to send in per year and it was decided according to the financial strength of the family.

Some families paid more than others, but they also got more benefits than others. The Saxon's were at the top of the list as were the Montgomery's, the Castille's and the Mayfair's.

Despite leaving the academy, they had continued making the payments because it was a requirement or law for all founding families.

Nodding his head, Collin agreed. "Okay but if you ever need me to do something do not hesitate to ask of me. I will be taking some night classes and maybe weekend classes with my wife. When our child comes, he will enroll at birth. On that note, goodnight, everyone, I need to find Shanna." He addressed them entire group, retiring for the night.

He left behind an astounded family that was wondering why he was registering his baby at birth. It was not as if the academy was running out of places.

By the end of the conversation, Luna and Luke had made their intentions to join the academy known, which was not a surprise. Those two were shady.

A groan escaped grandma Mayfair and she rose. The rocking chair in which she had been sitting creaking in protest. "Ah, that is my queue. I am exhausted and therefore retiring for bed." She declared.

"Mother before you leave, I am requesting that we meet here in the morning. Maureen, Rekha and Phoebe too." Edward requested politely.

Jennie's curiosity exploded like fireworks. "Why? And why am I being excluded? I am tired of all the secrets." She complained.

"Yeah why?" Maureen questioned too, brows knitting.

Edward let out a soft sigh. "Because you are on my team." A simple answer came from him.
