Rebirth: My CEO Husband's Thoughts Are Too Shameless

Chapter 19: I am missing you

Chapter 19

A car slowly came to a stop in front of a modest two-story house.

Clara stepped out first and stood quietly at the gate, her eyes fixed on the familiar home.

A flood of memories washed over her. Some brought warmth to her heart. Others made her eyes sting.

This was where she had spent the happiest years of her childhood. It was also where she had watched her mother slowly lose her battle with illness.

"I’m home, Mom." Clara took a slow breath before smiling softly.

Just then, another voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Young Madam..."

Clara turned around to find Lily and Silvia standing beside the car, both looking utterly confused.

"What exactly are we doing here?" Silvia asked cautiously.

Clara raised an eyebrow. "I thought the two of you were curious about where I was going." She smiled innocently.

"Well..." She gestured toward the house. "This is the place."

She clapped her hands once. "Now, enough standing around. The two of you can start by helping me clean the house."

"..."

"..."

Lily and Silvia stood frozen. Their mouths slowly fell open.

They had imagined many possibilities. Following Clara to a café, a shopping mall. Perhaps even another Sterling property. But never... cleaning an old house.

Lily stared at the dusty windows before looking back at Clara.

Is she serious?

Clara nodded as though reading her mind.

"Completely serious."

Silvia nearly fainted. The Sterling Estate alone was larger than some hotels. Now they had been dragged across the city...only to become cleaners.

Meanwhile, Clara had already unlocked the front door and stepped inside. Although the house had been empty for years, it was still exactly as she remembered.

A warm smile appeared on Clara’s face.

Last night, after Dominic agreed to let her work, she had asked him for one more favor.

She wanted to reopen her mother’s old house. Not as a home...but as a bakery.

This was where her mother’s dream had begun. And this was where Clara intended to fulfill it.

Meanwhile outside... Lily finally snapped out of her daze. She rounded on Silvia.

"This is all your fault!"

Silvia blinked. "My fault?"

"Yes!" Lily pointed dramatically toward the house.

"You just had to ask where Young Madam was going! Now look where that curiosity got us!" She looked at the dusty entrance in despair.

"How are two people supposed to clean this entire house? My arms are still sore from carrying all those suitcases yesterday!"

Silvia folded her arms. "Excuse me? I was doing my job." She lowered her voice.

"Young Miss Hannah specifically told us to keep an eye on Young Madam. How was I supposed to know she’d drag us here?"

She looked through the window at Clara, who was already opening cabinets and making a list of things that needed replacing.

Silvia narrowed her eyes. "...She’s definitely doing this on purpose."

Lily nodded vigorously. "I think so too. I swear she smiled when she told us to clean."

Just then... Clara suddenly turned around and looked straight out the window, leaving the two maids instantly stiffened.

A bright smile spread across Clara’s face.

"Girls!" She cheerfully waved at them.

"Come inside! We’re already behind schedule."

Lily forced a smile. "C-Coming, Young Madam!"

Clara added another sentence that nearly made both of them collapse.

"Oh! After we’re done cleaning...we’re going grocery shopping."

"...What?!"

Lily and Silvia shouted in perfect unison. Neither of them had expected today’s mission to include house cleaning...followed by carrying bags full of groceries.

Without another word, the two exchanged a look of mutual despair before sprinting into the house.

"Quick!" Lily whispered frantically. "If we finish cleaning fast enough...maybe she’ll forget about the groceries!"

Silvia nodded seriously. "Don’t jinx it. Knowing Young Madam... she’ll probably remember halfway home."

The two immediately got to work, silently mourning the peaceful lives they had enjoyed before Clara became the Young Madam of the Sterling family.

Meanwhile, Clara watched them bustle around with a satisfied smile.

If they’re going to follow me everywhere... they might as well make themselves useful.

Meanwhile at Heaven International, Dominic sat behind his desk, calmly signing a stack of documents when Mark finally broke the silence.

"Boss, are you sure you want to let Madam work?"

Dominic paused, his thoughts drifting back to the conversation he had shared with Clara a few nights ago.

She had insisted on working, refusing to stay at home any longer. In the end, he had agreed. Once he gave someone his word, he had no intention of taking it back.

Besides...

She had agreed to kiss him in return.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"Yes," he answered simply before returning to the documents in front of him.

Mark hesitated before asking the question that had been bothering him ever since.

"But, Boss... what if Madam tries to escape again?"

This time, Dominic looked up from the papers.

"She won’t."

His voice was calm and unwavering.

"She promised."

Mark fell silent.

It was difficult for him to share Dominic’s confidence.

After all, Clara had quite the history of running away.

She had escaped during their wedding.

She had slipped away during dinner.

She had even disappeared in the middle of one of their dates.

Mark still vividly remembered the chaos that day. Dominic had mobilized nearly everyone they knew to search the entire city. They had checked hotels, shopping malls, parks, cafés—every place Clara might have gone.

Hours later, they finally found her kneeling before her mother’s tombstone, tears streaming down her face.

Even now, the memory remained fresh in Mark’s mind.

He couldn’t understand why Dominic continued to trust a woman who had broken his trust time and time again.

From the very beginning, Clara had made it painfully clear that she never wanted this marriage. Every chance she got, she tried to escape him.

Yet Dominic never stopped believing in her.

And now...

He had not only agreed to let her work, but he also seemed completely convinced that she would keep her promise.

Mark couldn’t understand it.

Still, he knew better than to question his boss further.

Instead, he reached into the folder he was carrying and pulled out a glossy brochure.

"Boss, these are the latest gown designs for Madam."

Dominic accepted it and flipped through the pages.

The elegant evening gowns had been specially selected for Hannah’s engagement banquet.

After Dominic declared his complete faith in Clara, the elders of the Sterling family had finally stopped objecting to her attendance. His father was the one to believe him, followed by his mother and grandfather.

And to prove that Clara was truly trying to change, Dominic had personally decided to bring her to Hannah’s engagement party.

Only then would everyone truly believe that their relationship had improved.

Dominic studied the designs one after another, wondering which color would suit Clara best when his phone vibrated on the desk.

His gaze shifted to the screen.

Clara: Are you missing me, darling? Because I’m missing you.

For a brief moment, Dominic simply stared at the message. Then, without realizing it, the corners of his lips curved upward into a smile. However Mark, who had been standing quietly beside him, nearly dropped the brochure.

No way... Boss is blushing again.
