Primeval Couple

After enjoying themselves to their heart’s content, the couple finally left their luxury room and departed toward the guild, as if she did something to avoid people’s attention on them, the couple walked toward the guild in peace.

The moment they walked through the giant door, they were welcomed by Elfie who seemed to have been waiting for them.

The couple nodded before following after her, they walked through the thong of curious adventurers ogling at them, wondering what all of this was about.

They passed through a door, then through a portal to appear in another dimension, a small pocket world with a giant arena in the middle, the test site seems to be this place.

They saw a giant man standing with his arms crossed, naturally, it was the guild master Basil.

’’Oh? Looking at you closely, you’re sure of something. Aren’t you afraid of flaunting your relationship so openly? Are you asking for death?" He couldn’t help but ask them as soon as he saw them, he had a certain standard before meeting them but they shattering it, they both have top grade appearances even if they tried to somehow conceal it, a demon and an angel together, both powerful at that, it reminded him of a past history he heard, it happened more than thousand years ago, Basil shook his head to focus on the couple awaiting their reply.

It was Lilith the one who answered Basil’s question.

’’Why should we care? Why would we hide? We just have to crush anyone against this union. Kill them if they don’t want to see us together, it’s as simple as that.’’

Basil felt a chill down his spine as he watched Lilith calmly uttering those words.

To her getting rid of anyone trying to stand in the way of their relationship was simple as breathing, normal even, he felt like she was the type to take pleasure in slaughtering anyone standing their way, she’s that dangerous, Elfie could feel it too, both exchanged a look, their expressions serious as they thought as expected of demon maybe the man as angel would be more tamer, gentle. In anticipation of this, they looked at Gabriel who was smiling.

’’Of course, my babe is right, crush anyone, rip them apart.’’

They felt chill down their spines as their expressions crumbled, having noticed this Gabriel smiled more gently, his expression benevolent.

’’Don’t worry I was joking, maybe not.’’ The last part was said lower than the first half sentence but they still heard it, well, he made sure they did.

’Fuck, both are lunatics.’ the guild and vice guild masters concluded with their expressions hardening, already foreseeing a troubling future for this world.

’’Cough! Let’s focus on today’s matter.’’ Basil decided to quickly get over the matter and send those lunatics away.

The couple nodded, eager to start the test, fighting powerful individuals such as them would give them a general idea of their strength.

The couple nodded in understanding and Basil continued.

’’Before we begin can you tell me your Life rank, I mean your level? Don’t worry it will not be disclosed.’’

Facing the guild master’s question, the couple shrugged their shoulders and calmly declared.

’’We would like to know as well.’’

Basil felt his temple throbbing, if weren’t for the seriousness in their eyes he could have sworn they were messing with him but he was certain they weren’t which raised the question from which hole they crawled from? Not knowing something so basic. Well, someone has to fill them in and he wasn’t the one to take on this endeavor.

Elfie glared at him for a moment before she heaved a long sigh.

’’Life rank is the universal system created by the primordials to gauge every race’s strength, your profession (class) doesn’t matter, everyone follows this universal system. It is divided into twenty ranks and as you must have guessed, the higher the rank the stronger you are. Those at a certain life rank can impose their will on the lower life rankers.’’

The couple nodded as they absorbed the general knowledge Elfie was sharing and the latter mood improved when she saw how well they had been listening to her explanation, she continued.

’’The first threshold: the Mortal Rank:

°1-9 Life Rank: From 1-6, this is the Novice Rank, from 6-9 you are called Master.

The second threshold: Transcendance

°10-14,

Life Rank 10-11 are called Grandmasters, those who are about to shed their mortal self completely. From 12-14, you’ve become Transcendent, something beyond mortal.

And lastly the last threshold: Beyonder

Naturally, it’s divided into three essential parts.

°From 15-17- Mystic Rank, closer to godhood yet still steps away.

°From 18-19- God Rank, you’re fledgling Gods, still not complete.

And finally Life Rank 20: the Divinity Rank also known as True God.

Rumor has it that since the First Primordial war more than ten thousand years ago, there haven’t been any more True Gods. You should note that each race can only have one True God. I leave the rest to your imagination. For your information both that muscle head and I are Transcendants. We are considered pretty strong because Transcendants are far between in the mortal realm, Mystic Rank is the limit and those could be counted with one hand, you will understand later. To understand what Life Rank truly is, you must seek the answers yourself.’’

The couple nodded, grateful to have learned something useful, the rest could be found as they explored this world.

Meanwhile, Basil chuckled at Elfie’s cheap provocation to get back at him before taking out a golden monocle and putting it on.
