Infinite Dungeon Evolution in a Game-Like World

The men turned when they heard the sounds, only to be shocked right to their core when they saw two goblins headed their way.

"Hey, I thought you said there were no monsters this way," one said with a shaky voice that almost seemed like he would break into tears.

"There wasn’t meant to be any," the one that was asked confirmed while his heart raced at the moment.

One hobgoblin, sure, maybe they could deal with that, but two armed and ready-to-go ones, they had not a lick of a chance. Their hearts sunk, but desperation burnt hotter.

They pulled their weapons and got ready to fight.

"Even if you manage to survive these two, you’d still end up dead when I’m done with you. Futile," Kael said as he watched them.

The first hobgoblin lunged at full speed, and the second followed behind. The men all planned to go together, well, that was until one of them shoved the other right into the arms of one of the goblins. The blade of the goblin came down fast and slashed right into his neck, and blood splattered in every direction.

The one that had done this saw it as a way to create a distraction so that he could run away. So he bolted in the next moment, running for the exit with all his strength, only for the exit to suddenly slam shut. He ran in headfirst.

BAM!

As for the one that was left behind, the two goblins attacked him together. His guttural screams echoed off the walls, and their blades stabbed into him multiple times, and his body was left there on the ground as a mass of disfigured blood and flesh.

After they were done with him, they turned their attention to the traitor, and fear immediately gripped him. He backed up against a wall, the same way a kid who was running from an abusive parent would.

"Please, please," he cried as snot fell from his nose and tears from his eyes. His body trembled uncontrollably.

"I... I have a wife and kids," he managed to spit out, as if that would be enough to save his skin.

"If that’s the case, then your children are better off without a disgusting pig like you," Kael, who was watching, said in anger. The goblins closed the gap and then butchered him right there until his body stopped moving.

The goblins left the body after they were done, and they immediately turned their attention to the lady that was there, wanting to go after her. She trembled in fear, thinking that now that they were done with the men, they would come for her, but in the next moment they turned and walked away as a passage opened, and they walked in, their footsteps growing distant until they vanished and the passage closed.

She was stunned when this happened, but too scared and shaken up to even react. Kael opened the original path for her to leave. She looked at it and somehow knew it was for her. She grabbed her rags that could barely cover her body, and she limped out of the place, but when she got to the entrance she stopped and turned. She looked inside the space that she had been in, and then she spoke.

"Thank you." Her voice was quiet and sweet, but for some reason it struck a chord in Kael. It was only words of appreciation, yet it made him feel good about it all, the actions he had committed. He felt he had done the right thing to save her.

"You are welcome," he replied, one that she would probably never hear. He changed his attention away from there immediately after. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Meanwhile, as the lady walked, she heard a whisper right into her ear.

"You are welcome." Her eyes widened when she heard it. She knew she could not be hallucinating. She was certain about what she had heard and what it had said.

At this point of the day, the map craze was on another level, with everyone eager to find the treasure. The third and fourth floors were now filled with a massive number of adventurers.

To be honest, this was good. Well, it would have been good if only they knew what they were doing. Many of them that were down there were overambitious adventurers, and in the third and fourth floors, that would not get you through.

He watched a group walk together on the fourth floor, one mage and two young men. He could see the direction that they were walking, and he knew that if they kept going that way, they would for sure run into a group of evolved kobolds that were sleeping there, so he sought to help them and then quietly formed a wall to block the path.

"Oi, was this wall here when you scanned?" one of the swordsmen asked.

The mage turned. He stretched out his staff, and a light formed from it, touching the wall ahead.

"No, this isn’t meant to be here," he replied.

"Tch, you are not going to tell me the structure of my own freaking dungeon. Just use another route, for goodness’ sake."

"I bet the dungeon is trying to hide some good stuff," the second swordsman said.

"No, I am not. I’m trying to keep your sorry asses from dying," Kael said. If he could facepalm, he would.

"I say we break it down," the first said.

"No, no, don’t do that, you idiots. Use another route," Kael nearly screamed. He wanted to create another wall behind it to make it thicker, but when he saw his operational energy, he stopped. If he did that, he would enter forced sleep, and he did not want that.

"Shit, these assholes are going to get themselves killed for sure, even when I tried to help."

The mage stepped forward and pointed his staff at the wall. An orange magical formation formed in front of the staff.

"Heed my call, mana. Hear my voice, chaos. Give me flames, oh Ignis. Take down this wall that stands before me, EXPLOSION!"
