For a moment, Jianzhen didn’t know how to comfort his young master.

He had just seen the mother and son interacting in the room. On the way, Jianzhen had heard his prince say that he wanted to find the lady who sold the plum blossom cakes. He hadn’t understood why His Highness would seek out a common shopkeeper, but now, he had a few suspicions.

Jianzhen glanced up quickly at Ming Lingyi. He blinked, thinking she looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t place where he might have seen her before.

In the end, it was Li Yan who couldn’t hold out any longer.
