After saying goodbye to everyone at the family celebration, Caleb and I lingered at the Thorne estate while Walter supervised the cleanup of our private reception. Caleb had planned to drive me back to my apartment, but his encrypted phone buzzed with an urgent message from Sawyer, his trusted contact who managed our Boston territory operations.

"Tesoro, would you mind coming with me to the corporate office for this call?" Caleb asked, his expression growing serious as he read the coded message.

"My feet are killing me," I groaned, wiggling my toes in relief.
