Doomsday Pillars

The hovercraft, which measured 20 by 40 meters and resembled more of a battleship came to a halt in the middle of the desert. Despite the fact that it had come to a complete stop, it was still continuously shooting its cannon toward the cloud of dust.

From afar, the roar of the chimera could still be heard.

"Why that thing not dead yet!! Urgh!! Such an unfortunate thing to find a chimera in such broad daylight!!" Said a uniformed old man toward a bald strong-looking man standing next to him.

The old man went on to say,

"You have killed one before, right Lieutenant Winter? You and your team?"

The bald man was no other than Captain Winter, who was at the time considered to be one of the most powerful American spirit enhancers in existence.

"Tell me, Winter, will these cannons be enough to kill the monster?" The old man inquired.

Winter, on the other hand, chose to remain silent and did not answer the old man’s question. Instead, the man looked toward a young Asian girl who stood next to him, waiting for her answer.

The young lady put her finger on her head and said,

"No, captain, you are able to keep him under control, but I can tell he doesn’t get hurt."

Even though the captain was a little hesitant about the words of a young girl, Winter reassured him by adding, "I will listen to her if I am you, she’s the most talented spirit enhancer sensor I have ever known."

After he heard what Winter had just said, the captain quickly told his men to keep firing toward the cloud dust. He also ordered the men to speed up and pick up the armored car as soon as possible.

"I am going to head to the back to see if anyone needs help," said Winter, who was followed by the Asian girl.

The hovercraft came to a halt, and a huge door opened as it was ready to receive the advancing armored car.

As soon as it enter the hovercraft, a young man stood in front of Winter and said,

"Lieutenant Winter... It’s me, Glen Grom... I am sorry... my brothers... I mean my commander was still on the second vehicle, please help him, sir."

Glen exclaimed, a bit shaking with fear in his voice, yet he tried his best not to look panic.

Winter was familiar with the Grom from a previous encounter in which the two had fought in a doomsday pillars level together.

"Yes, I will do all in my power to help," he kindly replied.

A split second later, the backdoor of one of the armored vehicles opened. Soon after the door opened, a dozen civilians came out of it, including General Daniel Campbell who was found among the civilians who had now walked out of the vehicle shortly after it had been unlocked.

Lieutenant Winter was approached by the general, who gave him a salute as soon as he came into contact with him. After that, the general said to Winter,

"Please help! There are other civilians in the second vehicle."

Winter sternly said, "Yes, general. We will hold on for as long as we possibly can."

Not long after from the open gate, they could see a few figures coming out of the dust cloud and running toward the hovercraft. Glen was particularly taken with one of the individuals in the group. It was his brother, Rob.

However, it appeared that this was not the only thing that came. Unfortunately, hundreds of hellhounds were chasing after them from behind as well, alerting them to the fact that they would have to prepare for the battle against the abyss creatures.

After realizing the situation, Winter swiftly turned his attention toward a few figures who had been standing patiently for quite some time.

"Flea, you know what you’re supposed to do!" Winter exclaimed as he gave an order to Flea.

"Yes sir!" He responded in a forceful manner.

As he already knew what he needed to do, Flea took out a strange looking rifle that measured 2 meters in length. That particular weapon was a newly created energy sniper rifle that had been developed.

He instantly got down on his knee, in a position ready to pull the trigger when the moment came. He aimed his rifle at the incoming figures and started shooting at them.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Like an eagle-eyed sniper, Flea accurately shot down all of the closest hellhounds, as well as the one that came close to catching the running figure.

Winter then turned to face the Asian girl who was standing next to him and asked, "Is there anyone else?"

In answer, the Asian girl gave a shake of her head. As soon as he realized the situation, Winter immediately ordered the men to start closing the huge gate door.

Glen was hysterical when he heard the loud siren sounding to alert him that the gate door was about to close. He was in a state of fear since he had not seen his other brother yet.

"No.. sir.. no.. there are more of them behind... my other brother.. we must wait!"

Winter did not need to explain to Glen as a minute after, just when the door was ready to close completely, the dozen figures who were running had safely entered the steel gate. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Winter spoke quickly using the radio on his hand, and said

"Captain, all packages have arrived. All clear to go!"

Glen jumped toward his brother Rob and Winter could see that Glen was in hysterics when he heard the news of his brother.

"No.. Rob.. no.. you promise! You said you will save them.. No...!"

Glen even went so far as to punch his brother before the two of them hugged each other in sorrow.

This was a scenario that Winter had seen way too many times before. As a result, when he witnessed the event of the two brothers, he could only let out a sigh.

The Asian girl who was standing next to him said,

"Lieutenant, if you didn’t save us before, we would have ended up in the same situation."

"It’s all part of the mission, Miss Daisy, and nothing will stand in the way of that," he explained.

A moment later, the hovercraft began to move again away from the landing location.

The voice of the captain, on the opposite hand, could be heard over the radio.

"Lieutenant Winter, we are running out of ammo, please ask your friend if the creature has died yet?"

Daisy focused on her power for a brief moment, and afterward, she shook her head.

"No... it’s hurt, angry, and chasing after us right now."
