9:10pm, Alpha Heirs Haven

After the brief meeting with Lysandra and the others... Everyone left. Everyone except Silas and me.

I sat on the desk, my hands resting on either side of it as I watched my legs slowly swing back and forth. My thoughts were consumed by many things.

For a moment, all I could think about was Azrael. The distance he’s been giving me since that random evening before I left for the Hybrid trials.

The pain I felt when I thought he was dead was something I didn’t want to experience again. Ever.

So why was someone I had such a bond with giving me space?

And while we’re still on that, how about we temporarily shift to what could be THE most mind-boggling thing we discovered today.

I knew she was capable of despicable things. But casting a love spell on Luther? The first man I ever loved and one of my mates. Simply because she was... Jealous of my life?!

"How am I even supposed to feel now?" I rubbed my right hand across my face, sighing. "On one hand I want to strangle out whatever wicked juice they fed that bitch growing up. On the other hand... Luther—"

"There will be no strangling tonight, love." Silas’ amused chuckle made me snap my neck to him. He wore a broad smile, walking to me from the fridge with a metal tray.

The tray had chicken skillets, two glasses of sparkling wine and mango slices on the side.

Mangoes—

"You..." Heat flooded the back of my ears. "You remembered my favourite fruit is mango."

I’m pretty sure I never told the guy when I was dating his brother. I couldn’t stress enough how distant Silas and I were back when Luther and I dated.

And I mean—what were we supposed to talk about then?

"Oh, this?" Silas pointed at the mangoes when he dropped the tray on the desk. "Nah. They’re just the only fruits available here. And I wanted to give you something close to a balanced diet."

The heat on my cheeks turned into embarrassment really quickly.

Well... Ouch.

"I’m just messing with you, love." He laughed, picking up a slice. I blinked, about to scold his terrible use of sarcasm when he placed the slice inches away from my mouth. "Here." Came his calming whisper.

I didn’t hesitate, taking in the juiciness before me first. Then—I bit, closing my eyes at the explosion of sweetness on my tongue. "Golly!" It stung the sides of my gums slightly. "It’s been a while. My mom used to stock our house with lots of them. Then I plucked them from our garden."

Silas grinned, sitting beside me. "House? Or a mansion?"

The slice fell down my throat as I shoved his shoulder gently. "As if you didn’t grow up in a mansion too. Mr business savvy Beta."

We both chuckled, shoulders brushing against each other.

Across the room, mounted on the wall close to the door was a clock. It ticked, each second seeming excruciatingly long. Because it was.

Fuck, twelve AM couldn’t come soon enough.

"Anything in particular bothering your mind?" He asked softly. "Maybe... Our little kiss out in the Expanse earlier?"

I smiled so wide my cheeks hurt. So I grabbed a chicken skillet next, trying to distract myself from his pinning gaze. "That kiss was anything but little."

"Yes—so it got attention, didn’t it?"

"Pretty sure the entire school was talking about it before we left," I paused, chewing the skillet and swallowing first. "Blood Eye is probably going to be buzzing with it throughout tomorrow."

Silas shrugged. "That and maybe the beast attack... And all the gossip surrounding Lysandra."

My neck suddenly ached, making me grit my teeth as I tried rubbing it. He noticed, placing his hands on either side of it, fingers trailing down my collarbones.

"A massage, perhaps?" He drawled deliberately, moving off the desk. A tender shove got me off the desk, letting him sit on it again—only this time, he made me lean onto his lap. "You seem so... Tense."

His warm breath on my neck made me shudder. "You? Massage me?"

"Is anything wrong?"

"N–No, it’s just... We don’t have any ointments or oils or—"

When his fingers moved, targeting muscles I never realised had so much tension—I let out a relieved breath, nearly melting into his touch.

"You’ve got nothing to worry about, love." His lips grazed my neck, lifting to my earlobe too. "Just relax."

I should be doing that. I should be feeling nothing but relaxed right now. Yet every touch, every rub that went dangerously close to places they shouldn’t—or should—be...

... All of those sensations made me feel like I was seconds away from losing my mind.

A reckless moan slipped past my mouth when his fingers moved to the front of my neck. He grabbed my chin between his thumb and index, kneading delicately. "Should I stop?"

That question had to be a felony in some regions. "N–No..." I shook my head without a thread of hesitation. "Don’t."

Fortunately, that seemed to be the trigger that shifted the entire tone of the "massage". Into something much steamier.

He opened his legs, giving me space to sit between them. His warmth on my ass made me bite my bottom lip.

Steadily, I rocked my ass on his already pulsing bulge, throwing my head back. His fingers left my chin while his other hand caressed one of my boobs with no shame. No more hesitation.

"S–Silas..." A broken sound left me. "Is... Is the door—"

Bundles of my hair got pulled back, leaving my neck bare. His mouth dove, planting kisses before it turned into more aggressive sucking and nibbling.
