Ascension of the last Celestial

Chapter 20: Sun and Cosmos

A maid was walking down a marble floor. She had shoulder-length brown hair and emerald-green eyes, she had pointed ears and facial features that would be considered attractive by human standards, yet are nothing out of the ordinary among elves.

She walked with a nervous stride and a face betraying her unwillingness to do what she was sent to do.

’Why do I have to do it!’

’Is her highness punishing me for something? But I don’t think I did anything wrong.’

The reason the maid was so nervous was because she was sent by the empress to retrieve the princess. And if there is one thing everyone in the palace knows, it’s that the princess HATES to leave her room. When she was younger, she would even go as far as using magic to make the maids flee or just straight up push them out of the room.

That’s why it became a universally hated task to try to bring her outside. As the maid got closer to the door leading into the princess’s room, the more nervous she got.

Until finally, her walk ended and she stood in front of the door. She raised her nervously shaking hand to knock on the door.

Knock, knock

"Your Highness, her majesty the empress asks for your presence to meet the guests that are here for your birthday."

There was no response.

"Your Highness, the empress says it’s very important for you to meet the guests since they are the royal family of the Solaria Kingdom."

Still no response, but before the maid could speak up again, she could hear movement behind the door and most definitely what was a stack of books being knocked aside, followed by a curse.

The door was thrown open and the princess of the elven empire stood in the doorway with an annoyed expression.

Past the princess, the maid could see into the room of the genius of the elven empire, and to describe it with one word, the room was utter chaos. She could see the stack of books she knocked over while walking to the door, as well as dozens of other books about magic sprawling in the room. Each of these books was of the highest level of magical studies, something someone five times her age would only dare to look at, yet there were dozens of them. Some of them even looked like they were thrown away after she was done with them. The room was dark, only illuminated by flying orbs of mana that either were there for light or another one of her experiments. The walls were full of large posters of runes that only she would know the use of.

"Why are they here already? I thought I still had more time until the party starts."

Even though the princess didn’t look pleased at all at the situation, the maid couldn’t stop herself from staring at her.

Her face was like it was personally carved by the goddess of beauty herself. With a small nose, small perfectly shaped lips, and high cheekbones, her face could only be described as perfection. She had burning golden eyes that looked like a miniature sun and mesmerized the maid with one look.

She had long, platinum-blond hair with soft pink tips. Her hair reached all the way down to her calves and was messy and undone, yet still looked like a mixture between spilled gold and moonlight. Her pink tips gave it a mystical feeling while also framing and even enhancing the beauty of her face. She had a slim body that was well-endowed, in all the right places, for someone her age, and clearly showed that when she grew up, she wouldn’t just be the embodiment of beauty with her face, but also have a sexy edge. Her perfect, soft porcelain-white skin was without blemishes and gave her an innocent look, like that of a doll.

She wore baggy, loose clothes that one would wear when they are completely alone and don’t have to wreck their nerves about what others could think.

Caught off guard by the sudden opening of the door and being met with the perfect face of the princess, the maid lost her train of thought for a second before gathering her wits and answering her question.

"It seems that the prince of the Solaria Kingdom is a powerful space user, and thanks to him, they could arrive here with a portal directly from the Solaria castle. And he is even your age, Princess!"

At the mention of "powerful space user", the elven ears of the princess perked up.

The princess was obsessed. She was completely and utterly obsessed with any kind of magic. It had always been that way. As someone that is [Loved by Mana], she was surrounded by it since she was a child, and when she finally awakened at eight, neither she nor her parents could stop her from practicing and studying magic. Her obsession with magic reaches an entirely new level with unusual magic like space magic.

Space magic was technically like any other affinity, but someone that had as much knowledge as she did knew that it wasn’t so simple. Space magic belonged to a subcategory of magic known as conceptual magic, because it didn’t govern an effect like fire or water that were created with magic. It was always there, and by using space magic, one manipulates a conceptual part of reality.

’A human prince that is apparently extremely skilled at the usage of space? That shouldn’t be possible. The mana channels of a human can only handle the pressure of folding space after reaching the Ascendant rank, but that can’t be since he is my age.’

"And I managed to take a look at him, and let me tell you, he is absolutely drop-dead hot," the maid leaned down and whispered into the princess’s ear. She seemingly forgot or didn’t care that the one she is so shamelessly talking about is only 15 years old.

"So? I’m ’drop-dead’ gorgeous as well?" the princess answered with a raised eyebrow.

The maid did not dare to continue this conversation, because she knew that the princess was right.

"Give me a few minutes to get ready."

After that, she closed the door faster than the maid could ask if she needed help to put on a dress. Inside, the princess rummaged through her clothes to find something that wouldn’t give her mother a heart attack.

Standing in her messy room, she snapped her fingers and her mana came to life. Water appeared and washed her hair in seconds before a warm breeze completely dried it. Then the wind brought her a dress from her wardrobe, while her current clothes were sucked into her spatial ring to put on once she can go back into her room.

The dress began to hover in the air, waiting for her to step into it. Once she put on the dress, jewelry began to float towards her and interwove itself with her hair that was being braided by another wind spell. She didn’t put on any makeup since her natural beauty was more than enough to take away the breath of anyone looking at her.

After 10 minutes of waiting, the door opened and the princess stepped out, only this time she actually looked like a princess and not like an overly beautiful beggar.

She wore an elegant, off-the-shoulder white gown with sheer, detached draped sleeves, intricate gold embroidery, and a long, flowing court train that trails gracefully behind her.

She wore her long platinum-blonde hair in a loose, half-up style, with delicate braids woven into a gold circlet adorned with amethysts. Soft strands frame her face, while the rest of her hair falls in gentle waves to her calves, fading into pale pink at the tips.

Faced with a beauty that countries would go to war over, the maid only had one thought.

’How the hell did she dress up so fast!! Has she created an extra spell just to put on a dress fast and braid her own hair?!’

As the princess continued her walk down the marble hallway, her thoughts drifted back to what the maid had said.

’So the prince is a powerful space user? Wait, I don’t remember reading that the Solaria Kingdom had a prince. Didn’t they only have a daughter? And something about "drop-dead hot"?’

Her shoulders dropped in a sigh at the thought of an overly confident and arrogant human prince.

’Please be normal, at least.’

While making her prayers that the prince won’t be unpleasant, she reached the entrance to the tearoom where her parents, older brother, and guests were. It was guarded by two elven guards that wore the same armor the ones on the teleportation platform were wearing.

She took a deep breath and readied herself.

’You got this. It’s just a bunch of nobles and fake smiles.’

At that, she took a step forward, and the guards, understanding her signal, opened the doors for her to enter.

A servant standing at the side of the door spoke with a loud voice that immediately took the attention of everyone in the room.

"Her Highness, Princess Seraphine Luna Verdantia, of the Verdantia Empire!"

The second the doors opened and the people sitting on soft sofas were revealed, her eyes locked with beautiful, cosmic, slitted purple eyes. It was like their eyes were attracting each other like magnets, because those purple eyes couldn’t seem to help but look deep into hers. There was something unnatural, something deeper in the way they both couldn’t break the gaze of the other. Her burning golden and his cosmic purple stared into each other, and time seemed to stand still.
