The Xirang held its head high, wrinkled its nose, and added, "If you’re willing to form a contract, we can help each other. We might even be able to achieve ascension in broad daylight!"

"If you’re not willing, then forget it. Plenty of people want to form a contract with me!"

As an Innate Spiritual Object, it possessed inherited memories from birth. It was well aware of how precious it was—its appearance in the world would incite a mad scramble.

The moment the Xirang finished speaking, the temperature in the cave plummeted even further. Bai Yang’s face darkened as he glared at the Xirang, wishing he could shut its mouth.

’This is his Master! How could he allow a mere Spiritual Object to underestimate her?’

Beside him, Song Wanning’s expression was also complicated. Although she had expected this, actually experiencing it still sparked a flicker of anger within her.

Most Innate Spiritual Objects were arrogant and wouldn’t choose a master easily. This Xirang clearly wanted to leave this place, yet it was extremely averse to her. Though she didn’t know why, it still irritated her.

A faint smile played on Song Wanning’s lips. She cast a cool glance at the Xirang, then gave Bai Yang a meaningful look.

Bai Yang blinked in understanding before speaking. "Alright, I can take you out of here."

"Oh?"

The Xirang’s eyes lit up. Finally, a chance to get out.

But it maintained its lofty demeanor, clearing its throat before saying, "Hmph. In that case, let’s form the contract. But after we do, don’t even think about forcing me to do anything I don’t want to!"

As it spoke, the Xirang flew towards Bai Yang.

Bai Yang nodded and quietly waited for the Xirang to approach.

Just as the Xirang got close and prepared to burrow toward his Dantian, a bottle materialized out of thin air and trapped it inside.

The Xirang, caught completely off guard by Bai Yang, found it was too late to escape.

It tumbled into the bottle. After a moment of shock, it tried to escape, but the bottle manifested a barrier, trapping it inside.

"What is this? How dare you trick me?"

Realizing Bai Yang had tricked it, the Xirang flew into a humiliated rage.

’I already said I’d form a contract with him, yet he still tricked me! What is he thinking?’

It couldn’t understand at all.

Bai Yang, however, gave it a cold look and replied flatly, "My Master is the person I revere most in this life. By insulting her, you are insulting me!"

He seized every opportunity to display his loyalty, constantly trying to curry favor with Song Wanning.

But these words only sounded nauseating to Song Wanning.

’That wasn’t what he said when he was accusing me of being vicious and petty.’

The Xirang quickly recovered its wits, its contemptuous and disgusted gaze falling upon Bai Yang from the bottle’s opening.

’So he’s just an idiot!’

"Hmph! I thought you were someone special, but you’re just a spineless coward. Thank goodness I didn’t form a contract with you; that would have been a complete insult to me!"

"Let me out now!"

It vented its anger on Bai Yang, giving him a thorough scolding as well.

Bai Yang quietly watched and listened, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

"Heh, whether you acknowledge a master or not isn’t something you alone get to decide!"

’Since Master was able to lead me to the Xirang, she must know a way to make it submit.’

With that, he turned to look at Song Wanning.

Song Wanning’s eyes were unreadable. She didn’t respond, merely held a faint, mysterious smile.

"Hmph, don’t be ridiculous. We Innate Spiritual Objects must be willing in order to acknowledge a master. Don’t you even know something so basic?"

The Xirang’s disdain for Bai Yang grew. ’Good thing I didn’t form a contract with him,’ it thought.

Hearing this, Bai Yang’s face fell, and he looked at Song Wanning with concern.

’If Master doesn’t know how to form the contract either, then capturing the Xirang was pointless!’

The Xirang was the very essence of earth. It could grow anything, and whatever was planted in it would flourish without any need for specific soil or water.

However, when it made its offer, the pair didn’t react with the delight it had anticipated.

Song Wanning in particular—the smile on her face was rather unsettling.

Just as it was feeling confused, it heard Song Wanning say pointedly, "Who said I wanted to form a contract with you?"

Her voice was melodious, yet tinged with malice.

The Xirang’s heart sank. It asked subconsciously, "Not form a contract with me? You think I’ll believe that?"

The expression on its face screamed, ’Do I look like an idiot?’

A flicker of confusion crossed Bai Yang’s mind as well. ’Didn’t Master look for the Xirang so she could plant Spiritual Medicine?’

"Whether you believe it or not is unimportant."

Song Wanning’s lips curled into a faint smile; she had no intention of explaining further.

"However... as for that field of medicinal herbs you mentioned, I don’t mind taking it all!"

"We really have you to thank for that. If you hadn’t told us, we never would have known. Hehehe..."

’Trying to fob me off with a few stalks of Spirit Grass? And acting like it’s some great gift?’

’How ridiculous.’

Without another word, she sealed the bottle and swiftly placed it in her Storage Ring.

The Xirang was completely dumbfounded.

After shouting for a long time with no response, the Xirang only grew angrier the more it stewed.
