The Billionaire's Revenge Wife

Chapter 31: Death

"As I said earlier, Arianna and I are married but not because she’ll be used to avenge Mother’s death. I came here to warn you to stay away from her. What you pulled earlier is punishable by death and if you cross the line once again..." He paused, watching the smile falter from his father’s face. "I don’t think I’m going to be lenient on you."

The living room went silent for a while, only the sound of Frederick flipping the magazine pages could be heard.

Mr. Langford stared at his son with a dumbfounded look on his face, unable to believe his ears.

"Can you even hear yourself, Daemon?" Nicole questioned, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "You’re threatening to punish your father for no reason. What kind of spell did that bitch place on you for you to think you can threaten father like that?"

Slowly, Daemon’s gaze left his father and landed on Nicole who immediately shrank back into her seat.

"What did you call her?" His voice was low and threatening, the one that made it obvious that if she dared say the wrong thing, even if it was my mistake, he might actually hurt her without holding back.

Nicole didn’t dare speak.

"I think I need to make myself crystal clear from now on. I’ve been way too lenient on every one of you who disrespect both me and my wife and think you can walk away freely." Mr. Langford was still dumbfounded as he stared at Daemon. "Arianna is my wife. She’s now a Langford, and I expect every one of you to respect her like so. If any disrespect is thrown at her, then you’d better get ready for the punishment. A disrespect to my wife is a disrespect to me also." Then his gaze landed on his father. "Have I made myself clear?"

Mr. Langford’s lips tightened as his teeth gnashed against each other.

He had so much to say, but he was forced to swallow his words.

He was the former Pakhan of the Bratva, which means that he was no longer in control especially after handing down his rule to Daemon and retiring.

He still had authority, but not enough to command the real Pakhan himself, Daemon. And from the look on Daemon’s face, he would protect Arianna from him and get him punished if he did anything to her.

"Have I made myself clear?" Daemon snapped, his tone harsher now.

Nicole stiffly nodded against her will.

"Yes," she managed to say.

Mr. Langford forced a curt nod, his fist clenched tightly by his sides.

"Very well," Daemon said before he turned to Frederick. "Come with me."

As if he’d been waiting, Frederick closed the magazine and quickly followed Daemon out of the mansion.

Meanwhile, Mr. Langford was fuming.

Even though it was only his daughter and son who were present while Daemon forced him to answer him, he felt greatly embarrassed.

Outside, Daemon brought a cigarette from his pocket and lit it up with a lighter.

He took a puff and exhaled, feeling relieved.

"Did you find anything?" He asked.

Fredrick shook his head. "Nothing. I checked the invitation list for Griffin’s anniversary and his name didn’t show up once. It’s either he used another name to make the list or he came uninvited."

Daemon paused for a moment, the cigarette hanging between his fingers. "He couldn’t have been invited. The anniversary is solely by invitation. No invitation no entry."

Frederick nodded. "That’s right. So he must have used another name then."

However, how he made the guest list wasn’t what worried Daemon. It was his connection with the Griffins.

Daemon had already done a background check on that family, and they seemed clean, not too clean since they were involved in the underground business once in a while, not deeply involved. And the person they were dealing with came from a totally different level.

If they were deeply connected, then that’s not good news.

Daemon took another puff of his cigarette, trying to take his mind off the situation.

If he’d returned to take his revenge, then all he needed to do was be ready to counter every attack. Or so he thought.

His mind found itself thinking of Arianna.

She’d been so stressed earlier when everyone pointed a gun at each other.

The situation had been stressful, but thankfully, it didn’t turn gruesome.

"Get all the men who were present during the meeting earlier at the dungeon. I’ll deal with them later," he said.

They may have forgotten that he was their leader and dared to go against his words, but he needed to remind them.

They dared point a weapon at him and believed they could go scout free.

It was extremely laughable.

Frederick nodded, his face looking distant.

Daemon noticed it and tapped him on the shoulder.

"What’s the problem?" He asked.

Frederick turned to him, pondering if he should say what was running through his mind.

Nevertheless, he gave up and parted his lips.

"You’re my big brother, and I want to believe that you know what you’re doing by getting married to the daughter of the man who killed our mother." Daemon’s lips instantly turned thin. "As always, I’ll always support you, but I really hope you have a very good reason for everything you’re doing."

At that moment, Daemon wished he could tell Frederick what had happened that night but he couldn’t.

No one knew, and he planned to keep it that way until he couldn’t anymore.

Daemon placed a hand on Frederick’s shoulder, a smile creeping to his lips. "You’ll understand everything eventually, but for now, I can’t tell you anything."

Frederick didn’t insist.

He didn’t want to question Daemon’s decision even though it was very questionable. But then again, he was Daemon so he trusted that his brother knew what he was doing.

"I understand," he responded. "But I hope you’re careful around her. She looks like she wants to kill you."

Daemon didn’t need to ask to know who Frederick was talking about.

His smile widened. "I’ll be honored if that happened."
