- Chapter 1: Starting From Letting My Family Down
Several hours had passed, and Blood Trial Valley was already seeing hell. A considerable number of territories had been destroyed and taken down, and it had been a job well done by the two separate groups.
So far, the group with the Good Sisters and Rena had taken down a total of eight territories, while the other group of the Tank, the Spearman, and the Swordsman had taken down a total of eleven territories!
In no time, the outer region of the valley, and whatever was left at the entrance of the mid-region, was already wiped out.
What was left were the remains of the territories that once stood, with the monsters already disappearing... Gone to utter extinction.
The wrath of the Tyrant Slayers had descended on the valley that had terrorized Blood Trial Outpost, and even at that, it didn’t seem like they were done or stopping anytime soon.
It was a rampage.
...
On one side, it had only been Rena doing almost all the jobs herself, with Melissa and Melisandra helping out only when they needed to. They weren’t exactly mixing up at this time, but at least, the malice was no longer like in the beginning.
Rena seemed to be having a lot of fun until they arrived at a territory where it didn’t look like she was going to have any more fun.
[Location: Dread Ranch.]
[Inhabitants: Iron-horned Dread Buffaloes.]
[Chances of survival: 30%.]
They didn’t need to be told that it was an Extraordinary Monster territory, because at that time they had gone quite far into the valley and were already reaching the extreme edges.
Rena didn’t turn or even try to alert them, but they already knew that there was no way she would do this alone, so this was when the Good Sisters showed themselves.
[Profession: Trickster.]
[Profession: Trickster.]
Twins with the Trickster Profession was already a crazy start, and even Rena herself was amazed.
There was no theory that guaranteed the obtaining of the same Profession for twins; however, it now looked like that was likely to happen. At that point, what Rena became interested in was their Talent.
If they could get the same Profession, getting the same Talent shouldn’t be exactly shocking, right?
Rena didn’t go about asking, because she didn’t want to act captivated. And well, the Good Sisters weren’t exactly concerned with whatever was in her mind.
Because the most interesting part of this mission was about to begin.
[Monster Name: Dread Buffalo Defender.]
[Rank: Level 6 Extraordinary.]
[Traits: Aggression. Horn Jack. Strength.]
[Life: 100%.]
About five Dread Buffalo Defenders had gathered at the entrance of the Dread Ranch, and before another minute passed, another five had already joined the defense line.
It was the first time Rena was getting to see an Iron-horned Dread Buffalo, but it was not the first time she was having to picture one.
Back in the academy, hunting bull-type monsters had been one of the topics she had always enjoyed, and she once killed three real bulls back at the training ground.
Since that day, she was nicknamed "Bull Slayer" by her mates, and she had been called that name till the Day of the Red Zenith.
If she could really kill three bulls without a single magical power, then why wouldn’t she be able to take down a couple of Iron-horned Dread Buffaloes with some really amazing Profession and Talent?
She might be nervous, but sure, she knew she could take them on.
After all, she was still the same person who kicked the Four-headed Iron Godzilla’s ass in Terror Lake...
Melissa and Melisandra had stepped forward, and mathematically, they weren’t the favorites to face off with the buffaloes.
"Ten against three. Oh, I like the odds," Melisandra gave a sharp smile as she tightened her grip on the small axe she held.
Melissa held a sword, and she only smirked at what her sister said, ready for the showdown.
But then...
It all looked like they were on the same page to face the group of monsters until they suddenly saw Rena charging at one of the Buffaloes.
"Hey, what are you...!"
BAAAM!
It was fortunate that she wasn’t hit by the iron horns. The Buffalo’s terrifying muscular leg was the force that sent her flying several meters over, and in the next moment, they both saw her lying flat on the other side of the field.
[100 Damages Sustained!]
[40 Damages have been channeled to Strength.]
[60 Damages have been channeled to Energy.]
[Both values have been multiplied by a hundred.]
[Strength: 4000.]
[Energy: 6000.]
"Okay, the party begins here."
As usual, she must always start as the losing side to gather as much Strength and Energy as possible, and whatever happens is hers to talk about.
Rena was already up before the Good Sisters bothered coming, and when they noticed she was fine, they seemed to have let out a sigh of relief.
"What was that for?" Melissa asked with a curious look on her face, her brows furrowed.
"You’ll see."
Rena stepped forward, activated [Energy], and channeled it toward the exact same monster that had attacked her.
BOOOOOM!
In a second, several buffalo pieces of meat had scattered around the region, flesh and blood plastering their bodies, and even the rest of the Buffaloes weren’t left untouched.
Imagine having the flesh and blood of your brother painted all over your body.
That was the best way to describe what had just happened there, and even the Buffaloes couldn’t believe it, even if one couldn’t read their expressions for certain.
MOOOOOOOOH...!
MOOOO~!
Getting the monsters upset was already expected, as the trio formed a group right away.
"That stuff you just did. I want to see you do it again," Melissa told Rena right before the Buffaloes started charging.
However...
"I can’t promise you that," Rena said. "Or else you’re going to have to see me getting knocked out again."
It was clear that both Melissa and Melisandra were stunned by what she had just done. Surviving a big blow from the Buffalo was already a big case to talk about, and then she came up with yet another crazy impression by slaughtering the Buffalo into shreds?
The Good Sisters were captivated.
The truth was that they had no idea what her Talent was, but they already knew it was not one to joke about.
Rena already continued the battle with her Assassin Skills, even though she still had four hundred units stored in [Strength].
With [Phantom Shift] activated, it wasn’t exactly challenging to make safe moves around the enemy.
It was clear that the Iron-horned Dread Buffaloes were very sensitive and calculative, but it was not guaranteed that they’d be able to predict her every move, even if they could use almost all parts of their body.
They were Extraordinary Monsters, which justified the odds favoring the Buffaloes’ side against an F-ranker like her; however, you wouldn’t say the same for the Good Sisters.
While Rena was taking it step by step to take down one Iron-horned Dread Buffalo Defender, the Good Sisters were having fun doing their thing.
They only needed the expertise of their Profession Skills. And that was already enough to get them where they wanted.
In the middle of the chaos of play.
"Come on," Melisandra threw a striking glance at the three Iron-horned Dread Buffaloes facing her, and when they really did come on...
Her move started with [Stance Change], where she tricked the first buffalo charging with immeasurable speed by changing course, as it went straight without pause, crashing into a tree at the side.
Its terrifying horns pierced the tree, and the tree just happened to collapse the very next minute, crashing right over two other monsters at the spot.
At that moment, three monsters had already been taken down, and it was just a minor move from Melisandra that had resulted in that.
The two other Buffaloes coming from the other side were suddenly obstructed by Melissa.
A sword slash cut through the throat of one of them, while an axe suddenly flashed from the near distance, striking the forehead of the other, and before they knew it, it was five.
Melissa stared at Melisandra, and they both nodded as if they had agreed on something.
They immediately set up and faced the other three monsters coming their way.
Melissa rushed, and at the point of meeting the monster, she made a complete slide, going just under the Buffalo to cut its entire belly apart.
Intestines and shit poured out, but at that time she was already out.
Melisandra preferred to break off the horns of the Buffalo attacking her, and even though it didn’t mean she had completely weakened it, it had just saved her from getting pierced after making a jump.
BAAM!
She landed on its back, and she let the axe do a good job of smashing the back of the monster, shattering what appeared to be the backbone, disabling it at once.
As for the last one, it faced the combined wrath of the Good Sisters, who launched their attacks from different sides, and it was only a matter of seconds before it went from being one monster to two monsters.
Split into equal halves.
They sighed and turned to the Young Mistress of the Steel Empire, who was just about to display another amazing move.
There were supposed to be two Iron-horned Dread Buffaloes left, but she had already taken down one, and only one was left.
Rena was carrying the last Buffalo with her bare hands, raising it high over her head like it weighed nothing, and in the next moment, the Buffalo was sent flying high into the air, and soon it wasn’t seen.
Then again...
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!
After what looked like eternity, the sound of the landing was heard aloud, more like a peaceful explosion, and the Good Sisters had their eyes widened.
"What... Kind... Of... Strength... Is that?"
.
