- Chapter 1. THE BOOK THAT BLED
The car driving through the night, the streetlights flickering past. Viella leaned her head against the cool glass of the window, her fingers tracing the outline of the gun beneath her dress. Waiting for the right moment to strike.
And then it arrived-
"Young Lady, I think we are being followed!" the driver gasped, his eyes darting to the rearview mirror.
Viella’s lips curled into a sharp smirk. "Finally," she whispered.
Behind them, two black sedans drifted out of the shadows. They weren’t hiding anymore. They were closing the gap, weaving through traffic with high speed.
The bodyguard in the passenger seat frantically reached for his radio to call the main estate.
"This is Unit 4, we are under pursuit! Requesting immediate-"
"Put it down," Viella commanded, her voice cold and commanding.
The guard froze, the radio halfway to his lips. "But young lady, we need to inform Lord Lucian! If we don’t get backup, I am afraid this will become-"
"I said, no need to inform anyone," Viella interrupted, her eyes glowing with killing intent.
"Now, turn left at the next intersection."
The driver blanched. "But... the Grand Hall is to the right, miss. If we go left, we’re heading straight into the abandoned industrial district. It’s a dead end. It’s dangerous!"
"Do as I commanded," Viella said, her tone dropping to a zero chill that left no room for argument.
This was exactly what she wanted. She didn’t want a public scene at the party, not yet.
She wanted to lure Elias’s dogs into the dark, where she could test Original Viella’s memories and movements.
The driver swallowed hard, his knuckles white on the steering wheel. He had no choice but to obey. With a screech of tires, he yanked the wheel to the left, plunging the car into the the warehouse district, with the two pursuing cars behind them.
The man in the pursuing car hesitated for a second, his foot hovering over the brake. "Is this a trap?" he muttered, glancing at his partner.
They scanned the desolate warehouses, but then they both shoved the thought aside. They were Elias’s highly trained man. There was no way they couldn’t handle one spoiled girl and a single bodyguard.
Viella’s car suddenly screeched to a halt in the middle of a literal graveyard of rusted shipping containers.
The two black sedans stopped, boxing her car in from the front and back. The doors flung open, and six men stepped out, their heavy boots crunching on the ground. They moved towards Viella’s car with guns on their hand.
Viella’s car sat perfectly still. No one moved inside.
The lead guard approached the driver’s side, his finger hovering over the trigger.
"Lady Viella! We know you’re in there. There’s no other way out, so it’s better for you to give up and hand yourself over nicely, or else-"
He reached out and yanked the door open.
The guard froze. His jaw dropped as he stared into the cabin.
There was no one inside.
He lunged toward the back door, ripping it open, and then checked the passenger side. Empty. The driver’s seat was pushed all the way back, and a heavy brick was jammed against the accelerator, held in place by a clever rig of wire that had clearly been cut the moment the car stopped.
"How- how did she fool us?!" he roared, slamming his fist into the roof of the car so hard the metal dented.
"She was just here! We saw the reflection through the glass!"
Suddenly, a soft, mocking laugh echoed from the top of the shipping container above them.
"Looking for me?"
The men snapped their heads upward. Viella was standing on the edge of the rusted steel box, the moonlight fell over her face and her dress. A smirk playing on her lips.
The leader stepped forward, raising his gun with both hands. Even from above, she could see the tremor in his grip.
"Lady Viella!" he barked, trying to sound firm. "This is your last warning. Come down quietly, or we will—"
"—or you’ll what?" she cut in, tilting her head. The movement was slow and Curious. Almost cute.
Her eyes weren’t.
"Shoot me?" she continued, smiling faintly. "Then shoot."
A pause. No one moved.
She sighed.
"Ah... so disappointing." That was when it happened. She jumped straight down.
"SHOOT—!"
BANG.
The gunshot cracked through the yard. But it wasn’t theirs.
Viella landed lightly on one heel, her body folding into a graceful crouch.
Behind her-
The leader’s body stood frozen for a second. Then his head snapped back. A clean hole stared out from his forehead.
He collapsed.
Viella rose slowly, spinning the silver revolver once before settling it in her grip. The metal gleamed under the moonlight, cold and elegant—just like her.
"One," she whispered.
The others snapped out of their shock.
"FIRE!"
Gunshots erupted.
Those men took position and started firing at her.
But Viella wasn’t there. She had already moved.
Her heels clicked sharply against the gravel as she slipped behind a rusted pillar, the edge of her dress brushing the ground. A bullet grazed past her shoulder
"Too slow" She muttered.
She stepped out again, calm as ever, as if she had all the time in the world.
"Is that it?" she asked, almost bored.
BANG. BANG.
Two shots.
Two bodies dropped.
One man clutched his throat, choking as blood poured through his fingers. The other didn’t even get the chance, he fell before his scream fully formed.
Viella walked forward, unhurried. Each step echoed.
Click. Click. Click.
The remaining three stumbled back.
One of them fired wildly, panic overtaking his aim. A bullet tore through the air
Viella tilted her head.
It missed by inches.
She raised her gun lazily.
"Careful," she said, her voice dipping into something darker. "You might actually hit me... if you close your eyes and pray hard enough."
BANG.
The man’s arm jerked violently as the bullet tore through his shoulder. His gun clattered to the ground as he screamed.
Viella closed the distance in a blink.
Her heel came down hard on his chest, forcing him onto his back. She crouched, pressing the barrel of her revolver under his chin.
Up close, her smile was terrifying.
"No," she murmured. "That won’t do."
BANG.
Silence swallowed his scream.
She stood, brushing an invisible speck of dust from her dress.
The last two broke.
"You... you’re a monster!" one of them shouted, his voice cracking as he fumbled with his weapon. His hands shook so badly the gun slipped right out and hit the ground. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Viella stopped.
For a moment, she just looked at him.
Then she laughed.
"Monster?" she repeated, tasting the word. "No..."
She stepped closer Slowly.
Her eyes glowed faintly under the moonlight
"I’m exactly what you paid for."
She raised the gun.
"The Villainess."
BANG.
The second-to-last man dropped instantly. The final one turned to run. He didn’t get far.
Viella moved like a shadow. In a second, she was behind him. Her arm slipped around his neck
He froze.
A quiet click sounded beside his ear.
"Running already?" she whispered. "We just started."
"P-please-"
Creak
His body crumpled at her feet.
Silence returned.
The only sound left was the faint echo of her heels as she stepped through the pool of bloods. Bodies lay scattered around her. The metallic scent of blood hung in the air, mixing with the cold night breeze.
Viella exhaled softly. Her body was perfect Not even a scratch.
She glanced down and frowned.
A dark red stain had crept onto the tip of her heel. And few drips of blood were on her dress.
Her expression immediately soured.
"Aish... seriously?"
She lifted her foot slightly, inspecting it.
"You had one job," she muttered, nudging the nearest corpse with the side of her shoe. "And you still managed to die messily."
A faint shuffle came from the shadows.
Her bodyguard. Still frozen.
Viella didn’t even look at him as she spoke.
"Stop gawking."
Her tone snapped like ice.
"Bring the car."
A pause then hurried footsteps.
By the time the sleek black car pulled up, Viella had already reloaded her revolver. She slid into the backseat, crossing her legs elegantly as if she hadn’t just took down six professional men with villainess’s favorite gun.
The gun rested on her lap, still warm. She flipped open the vanity mirror.
A loose strand of hair had fallen from her bun.
She tucked it back in place, adjusting it with calm expression.
Her lips curved.
"It was so fun to take them down one by one. No wonder why original Viella loved to kill so much. The pleasure came from inside this body"
__________
Elias entered the hall, his presence cutting through the chatter. He wore a bespoke charcoal suit that screamed old money. His aura was chillingly calm, yet every eye in the room landed on him with a mixture of awe and admiration.
The whispers began almost instantly. "He’s the son of the richest man in the country," a socialite breathed. "He’s so handsome... like a prince from a dark fairy tale." A lot of girls started staring at him.
It was a striking contrast. If Dante was a cold beauty then Elias was a charming beauty, yet no one knows the mask of warmth that hid the predator beneath.
Elias walked straight toward Dante, his stride confident, and extended a hand for a shake.
"I didn’t expect you to come, Mr. Elias," Dante said shaking his hand, his voice calm, though his eyes remained guarded.
"Hah! How could I not come to my business partner’s wedding party?" Elias chuckled, though the sound didn’t reach his eyes.
He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a low murmur that only Dante could hear. "It’s such a huge event for you... or should I say, for us?"
He pulled back, a sharp, knowing smile playing on his lips.
Dante merely smirked, his grip on Elias’s hand firm. "Quite important indeed."
Dante’s gaze flickered momentarily. He looked at Alina, who was watching them with a hungry intensity, then his eyes darted toward the grand entrance, searching the empty doorway, before landing back on Elias.
"Looking for someone?" Elias asked casually, though the glint in his eyes gave him away.
Dante said nothing.
Elias stepped a little closer again, lowering his voice.
"I heard the roads are quite dangerous tonight," he continued, almost thoughtfully. "Accidents... delays... unfortunate incidents..."
A slow smile spread across his lips.
"You never know who might not make it."
Silence.
Dante’s hand finally slipped free from Elias’s grip.
When he spoke, his voice was calm.
"You worry too much."
Elias raised a brow. "Do I?"
Dante leaned in this time, closing the distance between them.
"You should be more concerned about yourself," he said quietly. "After all... it’s easy to get lost in a place like this." A pause. His eyes darkened.
"Especially when you walk in uninvited."
Elias chuckled, though there was a flicker of irritation beneath it.
"Uninvited?" he repeated. "That’s bold."
He adjusted his cufflinks, glancing down briefly before meeting Dante’s gaze again.
"Last I checked," he added, "everything you have... has my name somewhere on it."
Dante’s smile turned sharper.
"Not everything."
Another silence.
This one colder than the last.
Elias exhaled slowly, then stepped back just enough to create distance but not peace.
"Relax," he said, lifting a glass from a passing tray. "I’m not here to ruin your night."
He took a slow sip.
Then added
"Unless you already did that yourself."
Dante didn’t respond immediately.
His gaze drifted again to the entrance.
Still empty.
When he looked back at Elias, the smirk was gone.
"Enjoy the party," he said.
Elias smiled again, wider this time, but there was nothing warm about it.
"Oh, I will," he replied. "Trust me... I’m very interested in how tonight ends."
